When I was 10 years old, I was totally addicted to G.I. Joe, the movie, even if I had never watched the regular series or read the comics or even know what a G.I. Joe was, other than American herooooes! I could never forgive my brother when he deleted it to videotape Karate Kid instead.
Two years later, after going hunting and even dreaming with thorough searches of videoclubs and videostores, that dream came true in a random storehouse with mail delivery service. Now I even own the DVD in English, purchased a few years ago in London at a very reasonable price. But I think I prefer the Mexican dub, for nostalgia, even if the character of Jinx, who rocks, changes her voice in the middle of the movie for that of the baddass Pythona.
Now I really want to watch G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, even if it ends up sucking. 2009 has already a few interesting releases. |

| No Kiss Is Too Short |
[Oct. 3rd, 2008|12:12 am] |
This short clip of an elevator kiss had me addicted for a while, until I decided to go after the movie, No Night is Too Long. I haven't had the time to watch it yet, but you can find a copy from TV at isohunt.com, and if you want to get spoiled about the plot, check the Wikipedia entry on the novel it's based on.
They both look good, but I had already thought the blond (Marc Warren) was cutely hot when I watched Wanted, where he was the Repairman. Although he didn't exactly repair people's bodies but the exact opposite...
There's a funny thing about Wanted, where they hired stars like Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie, I assume, to promote the film with their famous faces. But they must have paid them for just the one face, because both use only their cool-intimidating pose, no more, in the entire movie, regardless of the situation. Perhaps Angelina was too busy taking care of her Benetton family and Freeman gave interpretative preference to Batman TDK, where he had to compete with no less than Michael Caine, for starters. The movie itself felt like a sort of a kind of coctail between Matrix and Minority Report, and probably more films that I haven't seen but the screenwriters must have.
And now for something completely different, the 4-minute movie that serves as a Pantene commercial: The deaf violinist girl. With Pachelbel! (¡Gracias, Lore!) |

I love Inui's innocent face as he so inconspicuously pours poison in Kaido's drink. Kaido's Cromagnonish face is to be noted too. As is, for the opposite reason, Tezuka without glasses. I LOVE the latest OAV's ending!

I'll stop making a "daily" logo for the time being and for it being untrue. This is a Seigaku covers dump. I bought these for the covers and they proved to... have a nice wrapping, the only thing worth keeping. Scanned.

| VERY OLD Shonen Jumps and a WTF blog |
[Sep. 18th, 2008|02:03 pm] |
Shonen Jump, 1984 & 1985 There are eight of them, bought in the Mandarake of Fukuoka for about 300 yens each. I tore the cover and the chapters out, enjoyed the old-style fashion of the adds inside, and then threw them away with the latest issues of both JUMP and AFTERNOON. I would have loved to see the face of the people in charge of recycling when they saw the year. Some would probably lynch me for the heresy, but hey, space is limited!
English: there is a blog in Spanish that posts WTF? pictures everyday. Most of the time the visuals cannot be understood without the language, but there are international exceptions like Mr. and Mrs. Vader. |

| [MASTER POST] Doujinshi Scanlations, Translations and Explanlations |
[Sep. 17th, 2008|04:09 pm] |
LEVIOSA'S DOUJINSHI SELECTION ALL STARS
I like it when fanfic writers make indexes of their works by fandom, year, pairing, etc., so I have decided to do the same with all the doujinshi I have worked on from the beginning of my Live Journal experience. You can even see my ::ahem:: evolution at cleaning and editing, which has not improved much in the last year, as time doesn't allow for scanlations anymore. That is why these days I am sharing mostly covers and maybe just a few sample pages from inside. However, those basic, random samples are not included in this compilation.
Here you can find all the doujinshi I have ever posted with scanlations, translations or at least summary explanations. They are sorted by fandom and by year. The pairing and the circle information is briefly mentioned between brackets. This master list will be linked to from my journal's link list and updated every time I post a new contribution, ::ahem:: IF or WHEN.

It's KANCHO time!!
Kancho (カンチョー, kanchō?) is an act often played out in Japan; it is performed by clasping the hands together so the index fingers are pointing out and attempting to insert them sharply into someone's anal region when the victim is not looking. ...More or less what Mondays do to us every week.

| A Doujinshi Cover a Day (PoT) |
[Sep. 10th, 2008|07:01 pm] |
makaioh posted the second SanaTezu duet: The Elephant's Scanties.
scant·ies (skan′tēz) Etymology: blend of scant and panties. Date: 1929 very brief underpants, esp. for women (Google Images)
The first duet was "the tears of the banana". They are getting there. Wherever that is.
*I "think" this doujinshi was by Misa Iwashita, who also does Oofuri (AbeMiha & Hanabe). Remember that if you click on the pic you get the real, bigger size cover. |

Lamb with apples and kimuchi. I wonder if the little (plushie) goat is just for decoration, and Fuji intends to just eat Jiro roasted: "Oh yes, boy, you can stay over at my place. I have a very warm and comfy place... in the oven."
Here be the backcover with the data.
Speaking of random couples, here is an interesting post with random myu couples from magazine scans (¡Gracias Maye!), and also a Code Geass and Saiyuki cosplay (or myu?). Oishi and Bunta is a curious couple, but my favorite is the Masa-Baba holding hands picture. I really like them together. I can't believe they did a TezuAto on stage and got so sensually close at some random moment in DL5, I think I saw it on the backstage. It was the stage on the far side of the arena, that's why I couldn't catch it live, if they did it more than once.
Also, this time they didn't include in the DVD all the different scenes in the different shows. I went to the first show in Kobe, Saturday afternoon. ( And what I saw... ) |

| A Doujinshi Cover a Day (Oofuri) |
[Sep. 8th, 2008|09:41 pm] |
The lyrics on the cover of last week's My Favorite Things doujinshi were from the movie The Sound of Music, see the full scene here.
This time I added the lyrics myself. This is the same doujinshi I got my icon from and also this team picture. The song is Blue by Eiffel 65, and you can watch the original video or another version by Spongebob & friends.
But Blue reminds me of Yukimura (although with all that color-naming this soap-opera is starting to sound like Hellboy), and there is no better remedy for Blue sypmtoms than the Sengoku song, Lucky. Read the lyrics first and then click on the video. I think the videoclip could have been so much better with other characters. It's a bit like Rihanna and her Umbrella. Nice, encouraging lyrics but stupid girl or flesh-showing video. I like the song, though. And some of you might like their fashion styles from all decades since last century.
Speaking of flesh-showing, apparently my swimsuit was the most conservative in the entire beach. Even grannies were showing more back skin than I was. Also, can you believe it? Only two days of beach in the whole year and I get my period, with cramps, on the second. And an alert of jellyfishes, with small samples thrown to the garbage. TALK ABOUT LUCK :D But the motto was: Everything's gonna be alright... with sangria!
Btw, would you like a rabbit to open your mail? |

| A Doujinshi Cover a Day (Oofuri) |
[Sep. 6th, 2008|01:18 am] |
My Favorite Things, a doujinshi. I think I found it in Nagoya. This kind of findings amuse me to no end.
I'll be going to the beach for the weekend. It's been AGES since I last bathed in the sea. I hope the weather is nice. I had to buy a new swimsuit. I just lack summer jackets. You don't use jackets in Japan during the summer, because it is always so hot until October. But here the wind blows and howls already! Autumn is coming. But somehow I don't feel I had any summer holidays, so this weekend might count as those? We'll see... |

Eyeshield21. I am soooooooo far behind in the manga. But I'd rather read the full game in one sitting and feel my heart about to burst from the excitement. And then post about it.
( In the meantime, have some doujinshi covers. ) |
