One more week
Another week has passed so quickly. Here's a brief rundown:

  • July 13: Took a scenic lunch cruise on Steamboat Natchez along the industrialized Mississippi river delta. Looked around the Mardi Gras and Historic Voodoo museums. Went to a unique club.

  • July 14: Tried the famed French beignets. Drove through the morbid Louisiana swamps and the vast Texas ranches. Saw a beautiful thunderstorm. Unsuccessfully attempted to use our simple GPS to navigate around Dallas, but only found a Hooters.

  • July 15: Had some excellent Texas BBQ. Visited the deeply moving Sixth Floor Museum about the JFK assassination. Took a walk around the perfectly laid out but virtually empty downtown. Stopped by a sculpture garden. Went to an impressive Mesquite Championship Rodeo show. Had a few drinks at the revolving lounge atop the Reunion Tower. A wet day.

  • July 16: Looked around the Deep Ellum neighborhood. Embarked upon a 600+ mile drive through oil fields, an occasional camel farm, and literally nothing else. Had a brief encounter with traffic police. Stopped in Amarillo, TX. Arrived just short of Albuquerque, NM.

  • July 17: Visited the casino and a crafts market in Sandia Reservation. Saw the buffaloes. Took the World's longest aerial tramway up into the mountains. Drove through the ever changing landscape of New Mexico and Arizona.

  • July 18: Paid an obligatory visit to the majestic Great Canyon, which turned out to totally deserve its claim to fame as the most impressive landmark in North America. Walked along the "Rim Trail" and stayed a little too long in the sun. Visited a Navajo Reservation and had a dinner there. Drove all around the Canyon to St. George, UT.

  • July 19: Lost and found A.'s camera. Went to the Zion National Park in 110+ degree heat. Took a hike along the "Riverside Trail." Came back totally exhausted.

Before I mentioned this steakhouse - it's all-you-can eat meat.

No Angel's Landing hike? ;)

If you're not in Vegas yet, drive through the Valley of Fire on the way there, it's cool

In this weather, hiking 4 miles in the open sun could be quite literally deadly.
