So I forgot to mention that I did infact find a new job. It is called JRVisuals (the place I filled out that questionnare for the other day) --->
http://www.jrvisuals.com/ .
In other news...hmm...not too much I guess? We finished 99% of our Christmas shopping, all we need now are Matt's grandmom and step-grandad, and his Aunt Diane. They don't really exchange gifts with all of the other aunts/uncles because there are just too many (Matt's mom has
9 brothers and sisters and Matt's dad has
5), but his Aunt Diane always buys the Malecki kids gifts every year so they get something for her too. She lives in NYC, is single (dating though I think) and is responsible for getting hot musicals from Europe over to the United States, NYC in particular. She makes pretty good money and likes very random posh fancy things so sometimes it's hard to figure out what to get her - she lives in NYC so her apartment is like a square foot for 80 billion dollars a month so she only has so much room for home items...it's tough. We'll think of something.
I bought Matt a 10" miter saw...I have to think of something else to get him to go with that. He also wants a wet saw but I can't get him 2 different kinds of saws for Christmas, that's lame. Even though we'll be needing it. I'm already trying to make a list of things we are going to be doing to the house once we get there. The closing date of December 29 is still apparently all going according to plan, so that's good.
- Kitchen Rennovation: Tear up carpet (yes...lovely brown carpet...in the kitchen..), lay tile or linoleum, move sink & gas line for stove
- Bathroom Rennovation: Knock out interior wall, increase size. Remove ALL fixtures except toilet and replace (sink, tub), lay tile, remove accordian door and replace with real door, make entrance in hallway near bedroom instead of in the middle of the kitchen (seriously...wtf)
- Dining Room: Tear up green/teal carpet to reveal hardwood beneath (I CANNOT understand this....we have looked at over 100 houses, all 80-110 years old...beautiful woodwork and people cover it up with the ugliest shitass carpet imaginable. Why?!?!?)
- Outdoors: Remove chain link fencing & put up stained privacy fencing on neighbor-facing side, back & front, perhaps keep chain link on garage side
Today I'm waiting for the FedEx guy to arrive with my over-the-air antenna I purchased. We decided HD programming on Dish blows around here because they do not offer local channels in HD, just the specialty channels like Food Network HD. While that was nice, I can only watch so much Food Network, and for $40 a month extra for the HD lineup just wasn't worth it. So we down-graded our package back to a regular satellite line-up and I will be using the antenna to receive the locals in HD, so we can all sit down in front of the fireplace that is going to be installed here next week and watch Heroes in HD. Right now my TV can pick up Fox and UPN in HD without any extra antenna connected, so I'm hoping to be able to get NBC, CBS, ABC and maybe even some Toronto stations like CBC with the antenna. It's indoor/outdoor...I'm going to leave it inside for now, and when we get to the new place we can mount it on the roof. Score.
In other news, it's been a record 2 weeks since Merlin has pissed on anything. He still hits the poor dog in the face on a regular basis. *throws a party*
