After much deliberation... Aug. 4th, 2005 @ 12:36 am
The jury has reached a decision.

Friendships are alot like drugs. Short lived highs are followed by painful periods of withdrawl.

Everything is conditional, no matter how much we dislike the notion, and attempt to live in a utopian world. And yet I remind myself how boring such a world would be. Imagine if life was perfect. Where nothing was out of line. And there lies the problem. The paradox. Chaos and Order are inter-reliant upon each other. You cannot have the concept of either without the balance that its opposition provides.

Women are much the same. For a period, things are good, then they come crashing down, until you get so sick of it that you stay away. And then in your solitude you recall good times you've had, and desire them once more. Only this time you'll do things different. This time you'll have higher standards. And so you find another, with a new set of problems that starts the cycle anew. This was the way of things with my first and second wives. Yes, I've been married twice. I've seen enough crap in relationships to take a long breather. A year or so perhaps before really thinking about a new one.

The cycle. Life. A neverending stream of peaks and and valleys. At both ends of the spectrum we find ourselves in the happiest and saddest of times, with no particular endpoint having dominance. For when we reach a peak, we want more, feeling as though we've plateaued. And so we seek it. And in our darkest hours, we remind ourself that things could indeed be worse, and even sometimes dive in deeper. Its the journeys between these peeks and valleys that give us true purpose. Those periods of life that we actively strive for something different.

So here I sit, not knowing if I'm at a peak or a valley. Not knowing what tomorrow will be like. Who knows what the tide will bring. But I do know this... life is always changing, and I like it.

I've also made some other decisions. Some goals really.

I want to save more money.
I want to lose more weight.
I want to perform more miracles.
I want to exercise more.
I want to find some time to do nothing.
I want to finish reading this book.
I want to stop bending over backwards.
I want to play video games.
I want to fix my xbox.
I want to dream when I sleep.
I want to go back to college.

For now, I'm going to work on that sleeping one.

Good stuff this is..

Lyrics to Rotten, as I hear it anyways.
Can't seem to find them on the `net.

Dress her up in baby blue.
Let her wear her diamond shoes.
Doesn't matter whatcha do
 .. She's rotten

I have seen it all before.
She ruins everything and more.
And if she knocks, don't open the door.
 .. She's rotten ... to the core!

Let it roll.
Let it roll.
Let it roll
  till all of time unfolds

Baby you have always been
rotten, but i love to dream
Baby you have always been
  .. Rotten.

You were young and very fine,
the sweetest woman on the vi~ine.
I dont know what happened,
  I had forgotten... yea.

Everytime comes to mind.
It's rotten.. .. yeaaaAh!

Let it roll.
Let it roll.
Let it roll.
  till all of time unfolds

Baby you have always been
  rotten.... yeeeaaA.

I wont be a downbeat lover,
took all my time to recover.
Used to dream,
  but i dont bother now.

Leave those wishes in the clouds,
it's easier now.. let it roll

Let it roll.
Let it roll
  till all of time unfolds

Baby you have always been
  .. Rotten

Let it roll.
Let it roll
  cause i know time unfolds

Baby you have always been..
  (rotten)
Baby you have always been..
  (rotten)
.. rotten but i love to dream ... yea.

I love to dream ..

Baby your rotten..
.. but i love to dream.

Sympathy Pains Aug. 1st, 2005 @ 10:44 pm
Lately I've been feeling pretty down.

A friend of mine is going through a rough time on just about every front, and my ability to help has become very limited. I feel guilty because if I had made different decisions during the past year, I could have been of more help. Friend is emotionally drained, and seems depressed.

I'm drained and depressed just listening to the dilemas. It's the first time in awhile that my productivity at work is on an uptick purely as a result of me trying to distract myself from all the problems in the world. But even work can be exhausting. Analysis, analysis, reading, reading, thinking, designing, thinking, planning. I left tonight not getting everything done I wanted. My eyes were starting to bug out where spots go unfocused. Maybe its time for another eye exam. It's been 2 years since my last one, and vision issues tend to run in the family. I guess I can count my lucky stars, since as yet, I'm the only one without glasses.

Enough sadness.. I got a shipment from BMG today with 4 cds. Two Pearl Jam ones, one Live, and one by U2. I'm gradually adding to my collection, and at the same time, this too makes me feel guilty. Spending money on luxuries. I must be more frugal.

I also got another package from my job today. - Last week they sent me a box of stuff with my new business cards, including a ceramic mug, lanyard pens and more. The company is trying to upgrade its image. I must say... I rather like the new business cards. They have a very clean, precise type of technical, yet global look to them. The previous cards had a dark blurred bleeded edge on top with the logo, and partial flag. They still looked decent, they just didnt convey the type of image I think the company should be portraying. So the new cards are definately much better in that regard. Todays package is more of a recruiting tool. Its a folder with information about the company, and testimonials from a handful of people. People I work with. Good stuff. Maybe I'll pass it by my brother.

When you gonna grow up ... Momma always said
Are you gonna walk around with a silly grin
and a bubble on your head

A spaceship landed by the mall.
There was a big parade, everybody got laid
And they burned all the books and the Chevrolets.
They grow so fast they never crawl

If you get tired of satellite flyers
and fame has let you down...
Under the wire and over the moon .. I'm around

When you gonna grow up ... Momma always said
But I just wanna walk around with a dollar bill
And a coat that never sheds.

A spaceship landed on the water.
It was a holiday .. for the underpaid
Everybody got a haircut and lemonade
And they smiled just like it was their father

Play me a groove one for my radio one for my love
That came and went

So many stories, hey man I'm sorry.
... this is just a song to pay the rent.

» mmm... Chess
This evening I decided to start brushing up on my chess skills again. It's been awhile since I've played a good game. Yesterday at work I played a coworker and found myself making a handful of stupid errors. So I checked into FICS and downloaded a client. Went to login, and found that I had forgotten my password from a year ago. Logged in as guest, contacted someone in help, and within minutes, my password was reset. Gotta love great customer service.

So I've since played 4 games. Lost 3 of them. Alot of work needed here. Nice thing is, there was this LectureBot on teaching some strategy. I think it has alot of lessons, but what I looked at tonight seemed more on the endings aspect. What I really need is a primer on the openings, and some basic pin and skewing type strategy overview.

ok. boring post. sorry.

» London Calling
Yesterday, news of London winning the bid for the Olympics in 2012. I was contemplating last night whether I should plan another trip over there when the time comes. This morning, I wake up to hear talk on the radio of some bombings that occured during rush hour. Apparently, right after I went to sleep last night.

It saddens me to hear of such atrocious acts. Currently, I don't know whether it's another attack from the IRA, or if its something like al Qaeda, or what. It's similar to the horrific situation in Madrid last year, but at the same time, the IRA has gone into a when-you-least-expect-it type of attack mode. What bothers me most is not who did it, or why it was done, but whom paid the price.

Common folk. People like you and me. Riding to work, on public transportation. People that cant afford or choose not to pay $20+ per day to pay for petrol, congestion charges, and parking in high priced fancy sports cars. People who are the backbone of society, making it work.

I dont think it was any type of crazy retaliation from the French over the Olympics. I dont think it had anything to do with the timing of the G8 Summit. I do think our leaders should separate the issue. I'm betting that by the end of the week, we'll hear the words G8 and Terrorists in the same sentence more then 100 times.

What we should be doing is focusing on a few basic issues. First and foremost, ensuring that our neighbors across the pond are ok, and doing everything we can to provide aid in their, no scratch that, our time of need. Why do I say 'our'? Because it effects everyone on this beautiful planet. Not just the English, Not just Americans, Spaniards, Iraqis, Palastines, Israelis or Afghanistanians, etc. Everyone. Let's be a little bit more caring for our fellow human. Secondly we've got to find out who did it, and a more precise motive. I swear if in the next few weeks I hear some crazy stupid shit like the Iranians, Chinese, Koreans, or any other country currently under our radar having anything to do with it, I'm going to be highly skeptical. I also hope the American public is smart enough to realize that Saddam Hussein didnt do it. And as for Osama, I still think he's buried under a pile of rocks, but who knows. Lets find out really who did it. Third, determine what can be done to protect public infrastructure. Believe you me, in a city like London, public transportation is exceptionally vital to the city's well being. We take it for granted here in the states, but over there it is a way of life. It is necessary. And it will be here when our cities grow for another couple hundred years.

Let's get these guys, but Let's not give up our freedoms

This post is in the present, but since it'll be appearing above the multi-part weekend posts, consider it an interlude...

Visited a friends blog and she had a link to this song called Goth Girl by Lazy Lane. I liked it. Reminds me of a girly version of Mazzy Star, without as much emotion or refinement. The girl has talent.

ok.. now back to our regularly scheduled program in progress ....
» Part 3
This is the third in a series of posts revolving around this past weekend. I'll back date them accordingly for continuity. June 24 - 26 '05 will be written in history books as one of my many enjoyable travels. This weekend I was able to meet with a friend of mine, a next door neighbor from years back, whom I havent seen in 14 years or so. With that said, here is a recap of Saturday afternoon...

Where did I leave off... oh yes, mtv and my missing brother.

Something I forgot to mention in the previous post for Saturday morning: I had a big bowl of those multi colored crispy things and cocoa crispies.

Soon my brother comes back. He explains how he thought we walked up the street because we were talking about going to the store or some tarot reading place. We show him the pictures we found. A little time passes and we decide to meetup with Joe at the pawn shop.

I change into a pair of shorts and one of my new T-Shirts that says 'If you can read this I'm eating your pussy' upside down.

On the drive there I see some guys across the road hawking those tiny bottles of deer park, the kind you get in a 24 pack for $4. They are selling them for a dollar. Normally this obvious rip would annoy me, but I was thirsty. While I'm waiting for the light, the guy comes over, so I decide to buy one. I hand him a golden dollar coin. It takes him some persuading, but eventually he realizes that yes, it's real money. The joy of this is that the tool probably thinks its rare and wont spend it, and/or will accidentally use it as a quarter someplace else.

Anyways, we head on into the plaza where the pawn shop is and meet joe outside. Its now that I wish I had bought a few of those bottles of water. He is getting severely dehydrated outside. We block the sun for a few minutes while perusing CDs. I pick up five of them and pay for them inside. I got some Marcy Playground, Silverchair, Tiachovsky, and the soundtracks for Starship Troopers and City of Angels. It's my third time buying that CD as I've lost it in both custody battles.

I throw my stuff in the car and head over to Roses, a rundown department store that looks like a K-Mart, just 10 times more depressed. I look at the few grills they have and then im in pursuit of a plunger. No dice on the plunger. In the meantime while walking around, I'm getting all these interested looks from girls that I pass by. I guess they like the shirt. I grab a grill and some charcoal briquettes, we all get in line, pay and put the stuff in the car. Say goodbye to Joe, and check whether he has a ride or if we're picking him up later. He says he'll get a ride from Frank, the owner of the place. We then goto Wal-Mart to pickup Sean, another friend of Stacy's.

Sean gets off work at 4, and we have him paged. In the meantime, we find a plunger, and I ask my brother to go pay for it. Figuring $2 wouldnt kill him, since I just dolled out for a grill. As he starts to walk away, I realize maybe that isn't such a good idea considering his recent money woes. I ask him if he has cash, and he says yes. I let him go and return back to customr service to wait on Sean. A few minutes later, he shows up, but he has to closeout or something. So Stacy and I are up in the isle where we met him. In the meantime, my brother apparently gets through the checkout, and goes out to the car to wait.

We get Sean and go back to customer service, and realize Lewie isn't there. Uh-oh.. not again. We quickly spreadout and start searching. I opt to check the car. I go out to the lot, and scan the area, but apparently not good enough, as I didnt see him. I go back inside, express my loss, and continue looking around the entrance of walmart. I decide to try the car again and find him. Yay. We go back inside, meetup with Stacy and Sean, and then we had back to the car and head home to Stacy's.

Now at this point, everyone is getting tired. I take the grill out of the trunk and head around back. I go up the steps, knock on the door cause its locked, and nobody comes, so I walk around front. Everyone is in the front room, except Stacy, who looks like she's checking email or something. I figure no biggie. I go and unlock the door. I then grab my toolkit from my car, go out and start putting the grill together.

At this point, Lewie lays down to try to take a nap, and apparently fails. Stacy gets a few moments of shuteye in, and I think Sean leaves. about 90 minutes later, I get the grill put together. Stacy wants it up on the deck for convenience. I note my concern for local ordinance and fire safety, but alas, we put it up there. We start prepping the grill and I explain how we light the charcoal, let it go out and then cook over the heat. Stacy puts aluminum foil over the grill The charcoal burns for about 20 minutes before they stop flaming. We put my veggie burgers on one side, some cow burgers in the middle and hotdogs on the other end. Stacy starts the fries in the oven. My brother comes out to tell me that he is going home. I ask him if everything is ok, and he says he needs his meds and hes tired. I ask him if he wants to stay for dinner, and he declines. He's off on his way home, and we start to worry about him. When he gets home, he calls Stacy to let her know he got home safely.

Joe arrives and the food is just about done. We each have burgers and fries. Afterwards, we all get in the pool. The water seems a little cold still. Its nice to have a pool. Her pool is one of those quickie inflatable ones, that is almost 3 feet deep, and looks about 8, maybe 10 feet across. Enough to get wet in, float, doggie paddle, etc.

Later we decide to goto Crossroads because Moe is playing there, and Brewnettes. We get to Crossroads, park, and go inside. A few minutes later, Moe's band starts up. I can't remember the name. They have talent, but they seemed to be playing slow. Noticeably slow. Slow as in maybe between 3/4 and 7/8 normal speed. We leave and go over to Brewnettes. I think Joe just wanted to go see Unbroken, and was using talking to Michelle (the owner) about Sunday as cover to get us in. In any event, we were only there for maybe 15 minutes. Brewnettes is a nice place. The band Unbroken was fucking awesome. Alot of enthusiasm. I can see why they are popular. Eventually we left and I think we went back home.

We talked some more and watched a little of dawn of the dead or something, and eventually crashed. At this point, it's 2 am in the morning, so I'll continue this post in Part 4.
» Part 2
This is the second in a series of posts revolving around this past weekend. I'll back date them accordingly for continuity. June 24 - 26 '05 will be written in history books as one of my many enjoyable travels. This weekend I was able to meet with a friend of mine, a next door neighbor from years back, whom I havent seen in 14 years or so. With that said, here is a recap of Saturday morning...

Where did I leave off... oh yes, the boat.

We're on this boat and I get offered a drink. I ask if they have Michelob.. a Michelob light, heck, and Ultra light (I still had to drive back). What do you know, they actually have some onboard. Awesome. So I'm there drinkin my beer, layin back in one of the seats just chillin, and this girl comes up the ladder, and starts kissing her boyfriend or something leaning over. Now the nice thing about this, is what she was wearing. A very short pair of shorts. So short that I had a nice view of her ass as she leaned over. About a minute later, she pretty much sat on me. Very nice. Turns out that Eric, the camera guy, gets a few nice pics of this girls ass. If I can get a hold of some, I'll see about posting them.

Time passes, and we go and grab the rest of the band stuff and head to the car. We leave the inner harbor, and goto meetup with Lewie, who is going to be waiting for us at Target. Twenty minutes later, we find Lewie, and direct him to follow us to Denny's. Joe rides with him to ensure he doesnt get lost 2 blocks down the road.

At Denny's most of us eat French Toast. I don't remember now what everyone had, but we pretty much ordered a loaf of French Toast. French Toast is good and tasty. I had a coffee at some point I think, and eventually we make our way back to Stacy's. I arrive at Stacy's to find my spot out front was taken, so I head around back to Alley 29 (Yes, they actually name the alleys like that in Baltimore. Personally, it sounds like a band name to me) Or at least that part of it. We open the gate, and Stacy goes and has my brother move up a few feet so I can get in. I squeeze my big honkin car through the gate, park, and we go inside. By this point, its like 3 or 4 in the morning or something.

Joe goes and crashes, while Lewie, Stacy, and myself start talking a bit catching up on old times, and talking about new and intriguing subjects. All the sudden, its almost 9 in the morning, and Joe is getting up for work. He showers up, gets dressed, and what I think was some mixup with a cab (like, the cab is coming way to late to get Joe there on time), I drive us off to his day job. Joe works at a pawn shop. We drop him off, then head to the grocery store to pickup food. I grabbed some soy milk, boca burgers and fries. We also get some cow burgers, coke, hot dog and hamburger buns. We head back to the house and put food away. We start talking again.

At some point, Im outside, and Stacy comes out and tells me she has some old pictures downstairs. So I go down and look through them with her. These pictures are old. There were some with me in my classic crappy shorts. These shorts I was wearin in this pic were Uuuhhh-Glee. They looked like someone took a bunch of dead leaves, laid them on top of each other, took a picture, and used it as a print pattern. I always hated them. Other pictures were of Stacy's graduation. While we were down there, my brother apparently thought Stacy and I walked up the street to the store. So he heads off in that direction unbeknowest to us. We come upstairs to find that Lewie has disappeared. We look around, but eventually conclude that he went on a walk and would be back later.

We talk some more, and watch MTV videos. At this point, its mid day Saturday +/- an hour or two.
» In The Beginning
In the beginning, I drove 3 hours through rush hour traffic to a pre-planned destination. This is the first in a series of posts revolving around this past weekend. I'll back date them accordingly for continuity. June 24 - 26 '05 will be written in history books as one of my many enjoyable travels. This weekend I was able to meet with a friend of mine, a next door neighbor from years back, whom I havent seen in 14 years or so. With that said, here is a recap of Friday night...

[Disclaimer: I've not had a normal amount of sleep over the past few days, so I may have some facts or figures wrong. Please bare with me, and do not use this data for operational purposes]

I left the office at 4:00 PM figuring I'd need the time to get there before things got started. It's a good thing I did I guess, because it ended up taking 3 hours to get there. Traffic can be such a pain during rush hour. I may have to seriously consider flying in the future. On the other hand, I just checked out flights on expedia, and not a single airline goes between Dulles and BWI. I wonder how much it would cost for a charter flight. Anyways, I drive up, end up on 895 going north, realize my directions are flawed, and give Stacy a call. About half an hour, 15 miles, and two tolls later, I show up at her place. I get out, give her a hug, and she starts obsessing about my car. I kind of felt bad at this point, because she's currently without a car.

Now the first thing I notice about Stacy, is that she still, honest to goodness, looks just like she did back in 1990. I dont know how she pulled that one off. Women must have some secret. As far as attitude, she voices whatever is on her mind. When I knew her from childhood, she was like a social butterfly. She also babysat me and my siblings a few times. At times, she was that proverbial girl next door.

Anyways, we start chatting and go inside. She gives me the grand tour. The place is clean. I actually commented to her that she keeps her place cleaner then the average American. It wasn't spotless, but clean, organized. Soon Joe (Guitarist on left) and Pete (Vocals) show up. Joe looks like the type of guy that contemplates things in a very efficient manner. He's a leader type. A take-charge command kind of guy. The type of guy you want on your side. Pete seems more like a care-less kind of guy. He puts alot into his singing, and gets all the chicks. I don't know much about Pete, other then he and Joe go way back, to like when he was 5 or something. We get changed and head to Hard Rock Cafe.

Background: I dont know if I blogged any of this before, but here goes... Stacy operates Big Time Entertainment. The band with Joe (Lead Guitar), Pete (Vocals), Alan (Bass Guitar), and new drummer Larry is mda. Their songlist is comprised of alot of popular stuff from the past 30 or so years.

So as I was saying, we head to Hard Rock Cafe at the Inner Harbor. We manage to get on 895 by accident again, and pay the toll again hehe. Turn around on Church or Childs Street or something, and find our way down to the harbor, pier v parking garage. We park, take the lift downstairs and walk about a block around the corner to the restaurant. I haven't been to a Hard Rock Cafe since I went to California about 11 years ago. Nice place. Good lighting. Music volume is just right. Interesting entertainment. While Stacy and I waited for the band to setup, we ordered a bite to eat, and started on what I think I'll call Patriotic Shot Series. I'm sure this has been done, but nobody has ever introduced this to me. - Patriotic Shot Series are shots that are red, white (can be substituted with clear), and blue. Our shots of choice would end up being Amaretto, Vodka, and Hypnotiq. (Apparently there is such a thing as Patriotic Jell-O Shots)

Miscellaneous other tidbit at this point. - My brother leaves his place at 6. We call him on occasion to find out where he is, and direct him to just meet us downtown at the harbor. Park anywhere, etc. He's on his way.

Finally, the band is about to go on. We mosey on out to the deck outside where they are going to be playing, and snag a table up front. The band starts playing, and end up going through 30 some songs through the night. I think Joe said they did like 38 or something. It seemed like alot. Now at this time, the drummer was Frankie. There was some falling out over the weekend as I guess Frankie was flaking out and couldnt play Sunday. So, Joe used the op to take on Larry for Sunday night's gig as like a band practice. Sitting so close I thought it was a tad loud, but it was still quite enjoyable. Pete seemed to be off on occasion. I figured it was nervousness as it's the first time the band has played Hard Rock Cafe (I base this on the quality of Sunday nights 'practice' which I'll post about later).

An update on my brother - Throughout the night, I'm calling my brother to figure out how things are going with his approach. He eventually turned around and went back home. Then around 11:30 he calls my cell to tell me hes going to try to come up again. Kind of sucks that he missed the Hard Rock showing, but we decide to meet him either at the Cafe, or back at Stacy's.

The band eventually wraps up the long set, and start packing up. We take a few minutes on a boat, with what seems to be a bunch of kids in they're mid 20s to early 30s, acting like kids. Alas, put a bit of liquor in anybody and they're gonna act nutty eh! I'll pick up on this in the next update.

It's all about the fun.
» I was sitting, waitin, wishin
you believed in superstition, then maybe you'd see the signs...

What an interesting weekend this has been! Friday evening I went for a bike ride. I couldn't figure out where to go, so I decided to ride to Wal-Mart since I haven't done that in over a month. I managed to make it up the hill on Van Dorn that crosses 495 without having to stop and rest this time.

I get to Wal-Mart, and look around, and contemplate whether I should break my vow of not buying RIAA affiliated music. I really like that Sitting, Waiting, Wishing song by Jack Johnson, and I also like Jewel. I settled on the Jack Johnson CD so I could see what the band's other music is like. I love Jewel and all, but I have to have some variety. FYI, the video to that song is awesome. There is a behind the scenes where they tell how it was made. Turns out that yes, he was psuedo-singing in reverse. Definately the most impressive music video I've seen in quite some time. The video is on the band's website if you've not yet seen it.

Before I left Wal-Mart to head back home, I sat down and read some local paper. Inside I noticed an article about the Alexandria Waterfront Festival. This is an annual event started back in 1981 or 1982 to support the local Red Cross. I had wanted to go since I never have before, but I totally forgot when it was. Good thing I snagged the paper. So my plans for Saturday were set.

Saturday, I bike down to the festival. I had some initial concerns about food availability, but it turns out there was an awesome assortment of food for all. I rode some rides, checked out the chicks, and bought some stuff, talked to exhibitors, etc. The bands there were great. I also ran into a group from Zendik Farm who looked like they were riding the coat-tails of the event. They were taking donations for an art mag, cd, shirts, bumper stickers, etc. I gave em some money and they handed me all but a shirt. The music on the CD is subpar stuff. Nothing mainstream America would intentionally listen to, but something that you'd expect in the background of a movie where you see some potheads smokin it up or something.

There was a local band named Lump Dog who was pretty good. Their song Walk Away is a good listen, as is Right Guy and Inside of You. The Jack Diamond - John Steed band was there which was OK. But the best was really 10,000 Maniacs and Lifehouse.

10,000 Maniacs have been through their share of band member changes over the years, but overall, I was impressed that their newest vocalist, Oskar Saville, was so great. Despite starting an hour late, the band was awesome. They played a handful of their hits, and some that I had never heard before. I managed to get her autograph.

Lifehouse however, was not as good as I had hoped. Something seemed like they just weren't giving it their all. I don't follow this band much, and really, I just hear whatever music they have that gets radio play, so I don't know their history, or whats up. Still good, and worth seeing, but I'd rank them a 6 on the 1 to 10 scale for last night. 10,000 Maniacs on the other hand would get a 9.

At the close of the night was some fireworks. It started on schedule, which turned out to be right in the middle of Lifehouse's song "Hanging by a Moment". I dont know if this was planned, or mis-timing because things were running late due to 10,000 Maniacs starting late or what. I still wonder what the cause of them starting late was. Seemed like there was alot of stalling going on.

Anyways, during the fireworks show, which went on for 20 minutes or so, they had to stop a few times to let planes fly through to the airport. I wonder if the people in the planes were freaking out. I know I'd be a tad concerned on the approach if I saw we were about to fly through some fireworks display.

Before leaving, I bought a flashing light necklace thingy like you see people in Hawaii wear. Attached it to my backpack, and rode home. I guess it worked out well because I didnt get hit by anyone. Not that I've been hit before, but hey, I've never been out riding my bike around midnight, without a helmet. I really must do something about that. I needs a new bike and helmet. .. .ah.. next month maybe.

Here are some other things that happened Saturday at the festival
  • I got a baseball signed by the National's mascot Screech.
  • I got a free mousepad from fly-i, as well as a pen for signing up on their spam-list
  • I got some crayons and schedule of baseball games from Washington Mutual.
  • There was a fire at the festival resulting from a generator blowing up, destroying a trailer and vehicle nearby
  • I took a quick tour of two tall ships they had down there. One named the something Sultan, and the other I can't remember (yay! for history. awesome that I forget stuff merely a day later. Alas, I was never good with names if it didnt matter to me)
  • I took some pictures with my cell-phone, but looking back, I wished I had made it a point to take some of all the hotties down there. Oh well, I'll plan better next year. So there you have it. That was my weekend, or at least my Saturay. How was yours.

» An evening excursion
I got lucky tonight.

ok, not what you're thinkin. Lucky as in I dodged the thunderstorms while out biking. I rode down to the waterfront and went to the Torpedo Factory as planned. I'll definatley have to go back often in the future. There is so much to learn there. So many different styles of art. I found a few things I liked and am considering making some acquisitions. I didnt get back until around 9:30 so I missed the board meeting completely.

Tomorrow I'm going to WV again. Renting a car again. Hoping to god I dont get some piece of shit like the last time. I dont think I blogged about it. It will probably never get blogged. I dont have any good reason not to blog it, apart from the fact that I'm lazy. Oh its good to be me.

Yay. It's my birthday.
» XBOX woes
So yesterday I went out and bought San Andreas for the xbox. Got it home, started to play, and was happy that I waited. The game loads a heck of alot faster on the XBOX then PS2. Graphics were definately improved. Some examples are that you can see further away then you could in the PS2. You can also read billboards. Ok, yes, you could read them in the PS2 version, but now they are a heck of alot clearer. This one sort of surprises me because I would think they'd be using the same graphic textures. Maybe they made larger images to stretch across the surface or something. I'm sure there are other subtleties I havent picked up on yet. I can only imagine what it must be like on the PC, or with a high end tv.

The downer though, is that my xbox is a version 1.0, with that crappy Thomson drive. It constantly claims discs are dirty/damaged/etc. So now I've begun the process of cleaning the drive, with not much luck. Tomorrow I'm going to try adjusting the potentiometer. If that still doesnt do the trick, then I wont have much choice but to buy a new xbox. Oh well. Not so bad, then I'll start modding up my existing one. It's just a matter of costs and time.
