Sunday is the beginning of a new season of the EPL for The Arsenal, our last at THOF - The Home of Football - Highbury. I think Paddy leaving this season will be a loss, but there are so many things to look forward to in this season. Its going to be DB10's farewell season and also good bye to Highbury. This season will also bring into greater focus a lot of youngsters - Cesc, Senderos, VanP and the new signing Hleb. TH14 wearing the armband permanently would also, I believe, make a lot of difference during the game. All in all I am looking forward to a great season and if we could make a Triple this year it would be the icing on the Cake.
I am off home for the 3 day weekend, all of you people have a Happy Weekend and a Happy Independence day to you all.Current Mood: excited

Scientists at the Rocket launching station in Thumba, were in the habit of working for nearly 12 to 18 hours a day. There were about Seventy such scientists working on a project. All the scientists were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone was loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job.
One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him - Sir, I have promised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5 30 pm.
His boss replied - O K, , You are permitted to leave the office early today.
The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 p.m
Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children. He looked for his boss,,He was not there. Having told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left for home.
Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his children.
He reached home. Children were not there. His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines. The situation was explosive, any talk would boomerang on him.
His wife asked him - Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve dinner if you are hungry.
The man replied - If you would like to have coffee, i too will have but what about Children???
Wife replied- You don't know - Your manager came at 5 15 p.m and has taken the children to the exhibition.
What had really happened was The boss who granted him permission was observing him working seriously at 5.00 p.m. He thought to himself, this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they should enjoy the visit to exhibition. So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition
The boss does not have to do it everytime. But once it is done, loyalty is established.
That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their boss eventhough the stress was tremendous.
By the way , can you hazard a guess as to who the boss was????????

| » Yercaud - The weekend getaway |
Had an absolute kickass weekend in Yercaud. Its a hill station on the Shevaroy Hills about 30 kms from Salem. Took a bus from Chennai and reached early morning at around 3 in Salem. Vijay and Rajesh followed suit within the next hour or so from Bangalore and Cuddalore respectively. Whiled away Saturday morning watching some good porn and cricket alternatively. Then at around 4 in the evening 6 of us on 3 bikes started to Yercaud. With smoke break in betweens managed to cover the distance in about an hours time. Once we reached up the hill, we booked ourselves a 4-bed room and decided that the 6 of us would share it. Then we went further up hill another 5-6 kms to a small temple - The Servaroyan Temple -which was inside a cave. One needs to crawl to get into the cave. The locals say that if you continue crawling on further into the cave, at some point you will end up in Bangalore. Dont know where it opens up in Bangalore or how long it takes to crawl there...Barring me, all of them got totally sloshed out and decided to go out for a walk by the lake at 1 AM in the morning. It was gorgeous though, the mist moving across, we couldnt see 10 metres ahead of us and Boy was it freezing...
Sunday was even more fun. After a late morning lunch, we decided to explore Yercaud. We started with Killiyur Falls, but decided against a shower in it considering the weather. Then went boating around in the lake and got drenched goign through the fountain right in the middle of the lake. The next stop was Lady's Seat, Gents' Seat which are basically spots that over lok the winding ghat roads and provide a spectaular view of Salem Town and the Salem Steel plant. In betwen these two is the Sterling Resorts, which is a lovely resort built on the edge of the mountain. The Resort starts on the top of the mountain and goes further down step by step on the valley side. Absolutely awesome. The final visiting spot was Pagoda Point which is another "suicide point" that over looks the winding ghat roads on the other side.
On our return, we took another ghat road, which is about 15-20 kms more than the one we took uphill. This ghat road is hardly used by anybody. Our entire trip down hill actually took us about 2+ hour. The ghat road crosses diferrent small hills, so it keeps going down hill , uphill and then again down hill. We hardly saw 3-4 vehicles coming uphill on that entire stretch of road, lined up on either side by dense jungles. Man it was scary, The story goes, that this was the place frequented by the erstwhile bandit, Veerappan.
An ideal getaway for a weekend. Salem is about 4 hours from Bangalore and 6-8 hrs from Chennai, depeding on whether you take the train or bus.

| » Ken and Barbie |
A little girl is in line to see Santa. When it's her turn, she climbs up on Santa's lap. Santa asks, "What would you like Santa to bring you for Christmas?"
The little girl replies, "I want a Barbie and G.I. Joe."
Santa looks at the little girl for a moment and says, "I thought Barbie comes with Ken?"
"No", said the little girl. "She comes with G.I. Joe, she fakes it with Ken."
