That thing I was working on? Wasn't the store (although I HAVE been working on it).

Teddy Bear Liberation Front

Spread the cause.

[Positive*Thinkers] Trial By Fire

Finally up are the TBLF shirts. Babydolls go up tonight. I will offer tanks as well - but they will not have the back design.

Oh, goodness - I wonder if that URL works, too.

[S*P/P*T] ....

The only thing that sucks about what I spent the last six-seven hours doing?

I can't show it to anyone... yet.

[TV] "Bill... the vampire?"

So, at SDCC I got a prequel comic book to the series, "True Blood," on HBO. I've just seen a few of the episodes. I've gotta say, I'm really liking it. Anyone else here seen it? Whatcha think?

Something even more important than politics.

If you've ever read superhero comics, the DC/Wildstorm imprint, "America's Best Comics," did a series called Top 10 that's one of the best things ever. Period.

If you've read Top 10 before, Top 10 Season 2, Issue 1, came out today.

But if you've not read Top 10 before, get the first series trade paperback. You will like it.

[Politics] In the interest of being fair....

Pelosi paid her husband $99,000 with PAC funds over the course of a decade - using a practice she pushed to have banned a year later.

Who wants to swim? Oh, no. Don't mind that blood in the water. Who wants to swim?

Granted, what she did WAS completely legal. But this is going to be a Republican talking point for a while.

[Voting] The Electoral College

I'm not making this a poll because I want your actual thoughts.

Do you think there's a point to having an electoral college anymore? The technology exists to have every person's vote actually count - all we'd need is some uniform voting practices/machines. Is there anyone here who feels the electoral college should stay around? If so, why?

(this sounds like an essay question on a high school government test)

(edit) As has been pointed out, part of the point of the electoral college is to make sure small states (population wise) get a bit more weight in their votes. What do you think? Does that make it okay and viable, or should it not matter?

[Politics] Uh, McCain? Did you really just stay that?

How are they going to spin this?

[Positive*Thinkers] The Store Re-Opens on October 6th.

That gives me time to finish up comic book orders and go through returns. HOWEVER, I will be doing a pre-order special or two here, in the LJ, on Wednesday. So you all will get a chance to get new merch at a lower price.

Wheee

I really don't care if I lose readers over this.

McCain is a fucking slimeball. He actually just said, "Now is not the time to fix blame" in regards to the bailout dying - in, literally, the sentence RIGHT AFTER he put all of the blame on Obama and the Democrats.

And what pisses me off more are there are people STUPID enough to say, "Oh, good for him - he's trying to take the high road!"

Sadly, the Democrats aren't much better.

Fuck this. Can we remove ALL of them?

Mon, Sep. 29th, 2008, 03:24 pm

I just realized there are no pictures of me smiling.

Biting people? Sure. But smiling?

[Positive*Thinkers] Coming October 1st...

I'm still debating what, if anything, to put on the back. I'm leaning towards just the bear himself.

[Bail-Out] You're Gonna Pay For It. Look What You're In For

Body text of the bailout legislation here, but here's a really interesting bit brought to my attention by [info]hahathor:

"Sec. 8. Review.

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

Emphasis mine.

I wouldn't sign this contract for a used car, much less to help someone ELSE pay for their own fuck ups.

If you're bothered by this, contact whoever you voted into office to represent you and make sure they're doing the right thing by you.

Cars

I'm looking at getting a new car. I'm considering something small with good mileage. I've liked the Yaris so far. Anyone here driven a Smart car? How are they?

[Comics] South African cartoonist causes stir with rape insinuation strip.

Here it is. The strip depicts members of the African National Congress holding down Justice and telling Jacob Zuma, their ruling leader, to, "Go for it, boss!"

Needless to say, it's upset people. The most vocally offended seem to be those depicted unsurprisingly, but I've no doubt others are offended as well.

What do you think? Too far? A fair depiction of political corruption?

[Economy] Well, crapcakes.

This plus this equals a lot of filled undies right about now.

If our government WAS capable of fixing this, I'm not remotely convinced they'd even try right now.
