I say "relatively" because we're not so trumped up yet as to believe for one second that we can replace SC and FH. But we'll do our damned hardest to put on the best show we have yet, thats a promise. But you may be relieved to hear that that won't involved me in a leather posing pouch and tape on my nipples ;)

Antichrists a great night anyway and we hope y'all do come and have a good time. If we are stepping into anyones shoes we freely admit they're too big for us to realistically fill, but in terms of entertaining y'all, we'll give 110%.

When I was quite young I stole a pack of cigarettes. I didn't have any money. I wasn't old enough to smoke legally (or ar least to buy em) and I really really wanted a smoke. So I nicked a pack from the newsagents.

You know I feel quite bad about this. Even now. But not all THAT bad. Thefts generally not a pleasant thing. Not something to be proud of anyway. Ashamed in fact. Not necessarily to the point where you end up hanging yourself or anything...but the odd twinge of guilt reminds you that you are in fact Human.

Over the last few days I've seen what I already knew. There are some people who simply do not, cannot, will not understand that making music is a costly, difficult affair. They continue to equate what a musician does with a nice sunrise, or birdsong. Its lovely and its FREE. And its their right to hear it. Irrespective of the law, which quite frankly is something that happens to other people.

So I begin to think about compromise, about discussion. About the people who are being FUCKED by downloading and file sharing at least having the chance to engage with the people who are doing the FUCKING. For us to explain a few things. To try and get a few painfull facts accross so that our side of the argument could at least be seen and taken into account.

Of course Im wasting my time because the internet turns 99% of people into raving retards.

But still. Here's a perspective. I know you won't listen. I know I hardly matter in the big scheme of things. I know your incapable of empathising because this big wall of ZOMG ! DRAMA ! lies between us. But anyway.

I make music. Because its what I do. Its the ONLY thing Im any good at. I'm glad some of you excel at retail (oops sorry), marketing, PR, IT, Customer Service, management or whatever. I suck at all of those things. I have no talent for them. I do however have a little talent Im told for stringing together a few beats and progressions and lyrics. Hell down the years I've even sold a few records.

But the truth is my parents warnings were right. Its a career with no future, with no hope of real financial gain. My kids are never gonna have a rich Daddy. And why ?

Because some cunts out there think its alright for me to work for them without being paid.

They call that slavery. Yeah like Ronaldo does. Only he gets £120,000 a week for his slavery.

BULLSHIT. The last two albums by my old band sold somewhere in the region of 4000 apiece. They were each downloaded at least 10,000 times illegally. And thats a very very conservative figure. We lost money. We split up (well actually for other reasons but still). I decided to do a new project where we at least didn't have to spend upwards of £10,000 in studio fees to record an album. But nevertheless, the home studio I use for Uberbyte cost me £8000. I dont expect to see that back in a long long time. If ever.

Fuck you. You go and do your job for the love of it. To do this to a satisfactory standard takes me 100's of working hours (HARD working hours) per song. Sure I get satisfaction from doing it. But isn't everyone supposed to have "job satisfaction". Who said musicians have to be singled out and not paid for what they do ? Oh yeah it was Don Arden but thats another story.

You talk about your rights ? Your right to be entranced by the music of the spheres which should be free to mankind ?

What about my rights ? What about my right to make a living at the thing that nature or god or whoever decided I should be good at ? What about my right to leave something for my family ? What about my right to be valued just as you are ?

You see. Humble reader. You could well argue that Lars and Snoop and Britney don't need much more money. Sure. But they are the tiny minority you know. Its a bit like arguing we should all steal fast food because the CEO of McDonalds is well off. Truth is the way this industry works..like every industry...you might think you're sticking it to the man. But believe me you're not. The man will still be here. And he'll find a way to get his money. Its the little people. Like me. The small timers and hard workers who will get fucked.

You don't do me any good. If you're not willing to pay for it then frankly I dont care if you get to hear it. If you dont think its good enough to pay for. Don't. But don't steal it either. Listen or don't listen. Its that simple as far as Im concerned. I don't require the ego boost of thousands of people listening to my shit for free. I want you to pay me for what I did at great expense, over a long period of hard work, and with a great deal of stress involved. Just like the rest of you.

OK so again. Im wasting my time. You're sitting there with your big shit eating grin and your star trek top on and your other window running WOW and thinking "you cant stop me". And on the whole you're right.

But I ask one thing of you. Stop justifying what you do. If you steal. At least call it stealing. You come up to me at a gig and say "I stole your album" I'll have a lot more respect for you than if you come up and say "I got your album off a file sharing site". You're allot more likely to walk away without your teeth in a hat. Hell I might not be happy about it, but please, be big enough, be man enough to at least know what you are.

A bunch of tight arsed, knock off cunts. You might be amazing people in all other respects. I might even like you for your sense of humour or applaud your insight and intelligence. But in the aspect of your personality that one might think of as "generous and fair to a fault" you stink. And I'd least like you to admit it.

After all. I admit it ;)
