Why, hello, there.

Guys, guys, guys, guys. Guys. Guys. I broke down and bought food tonight and had to put it on my credit card, but! SuperTarget GIVES YOU $.05 back for every bag you DON'T use! That's $.20 I saved. Now I can buy...1/1,000th of a gallon of gas! They also had a bunch of other stuff on sale, so I guess Target really is where I spent that $.20. But still! Bring your own bags to Target! Earn money! :P

I have to memorize the witness oath and affirmation blurbs for school. I haven't rote-memorized anything since 8th grade. It's so weird.

Claude is back in snorgling mode since it got FRIGGIN' COLD out. He snuggles up to me every morning now right in the crook of my neck. I know he's just using me for my warmth, but I don't care. I'll take what I can get. :P

Finally, don't forget to vote tomorrow...in Minnesota, anyway.

My bracelet says "NO MOSHING."

Ha! There was some moshing:

Rage's message was clear:

Riot police greeted us outside as we left:

My throat is scratchy; too much yelling. My ears are ringing; too much loud. I didn't get bleeded on, though! And there was some protesting, but nobody got violent, probably because Papa De La Rocha told them not to. ("Okay, Dad. Sure thing, Dad.") Most of the riot cops were HOT! Hot cops!

And! We had delicious post-show drinks and food at a cute and wonderful little hole in the wall called Eli's. I highly recommend it. They have Boddington's!

I decided I am too old and too tired for the 4:00 a.m. bar close. First Ave. had a huge crowd outside of it, and every other major restaurant downtown was reserved for private parties. Stupid rich oligarchs!

Obama's nomination acceptance speech

I can hear Obama emanating from other apartments in my building when I stand out on my balcony. The dude across the alley in his house on Summit Ave. is watching Obama. The mentally challenged folks next-door are watching Obama. Even Ugly Naked Guy is watching Obama.

The thing that struck me the most about his speech was the "working together, finding solutions" talk, and when he talked about how he can understand why people are cynical about government when everything the government does doesn't work, and about how he believes something is stirring in America to put aside this cynicism and reach out to one another and stand together and vote for change. Let's move forward. Let's not just "muddle through." Let's march into the future. Enough!

Of course, it all sounds like typical rhetoric and "happy talk," but I'm tired of being cynical. I'm tired of the status quo. I'm tired. Obama energizes me and makes me want to be proactive and believe in the spirit of America. I want to believe. I want to help. I want to reach out. I want to hope. And I want to hope without fear.

Obama makes me hope without fear.

Tonight's a better night.

It was my baby sister's birthday today. She's 23. Yipe.

Snot of Puke and Snot fame died. Boo.

Download ALL THE MST3K YOU WANT. Yayz!

Today on the way to work, I saw a tree on Summit whose leaves had all turned red and fallen off. Suicidal trees? Is there such a thing? It can't be fall already, can it? We didn't even have summer yet!

Tomorrow I have the whole day off, except for the following:
-- Oil change for Tobias
-- Babysit nephew
-- Drinks and fish'n'chips at Merlin's Rest
-- Possibly go watch [info]mudflapgirl72 play hockey with boys
That's enough, right?

I've been woken up this morning by the mentally challenged people next door having the following conversation:

"Should I turn on the stove?"
"Eric, it's dangerous."
"Should I turn on the stove?"
"It's dangerous."
"I'm gonna turn on the stove."
"Don't. It's dangerous."
"Turn on the stove."
"Eric, don't do that."
"Should I turn on the stove?"
"Eric, it's dangerous."
"Should I turn on the stove?"
"It's dangerous."
"I'm gonna turn on the stove."
"Don't. It's dangerous."
"Turn on the stove."
"Eric, don't do that."
.
.
.
.
"Should I turn on the stove?"
"Nope."

Also, Ugly Naked Guy is still ugly and still naked, except when he goes outside. Then he usually wears his flip-flops and a pair of tight short-shorts, sometimes with a belt. My neighbors = awesome.

I'm not sure this was a wise idea, but I had my friend by us Rage Against the Machine tickets today. Um...we just happened to get floor tickets. Um...Minnesotans don't riot, do they? Like Chicagoans and Los Angelenos? If we do, I just spent $75 to get voluntarily severely injured and/or maimed. Oh, swell.

In other news, I should be studying for finals this weekend, but I'm working and going to a "small gathering" tomorrow and possibly going to see a friend's play on Sunday. I have not practiced at all this week yet. Don't tell my teacher.

No subject today

Welp, I am now officially in my 140 WPM speed in realtime class at school. I found out I passed my final 120s test today. Don't ask me how I did it. I have no idea. I must have been "in the zone," as they call it. Magically, I also transcribed a 140s test today, but I'm quite sure I did not pass. I just need to know where I'm at, ya know? So to sum up for those who haven't been following along, school is going pretty well.

The State Fair commercials have begun in earnest, and I can't wait. I think I might go the first day, Thursday, August 21st. I have never gone on the first day before. Don't they have all kinds of discounts and whatnot that day? Thrifty Thursday, I think they call it. I might go another day too if I can find peoples to go with me. Heh.

Claude is curled up next to me, one eye half-open, one eye closed, one front paw on my leg, the other one tucked up underneath his chin, and snoring. I lurve him so much. Don't get me wrong. I lurve Itty-Bitty too, but she never does anything this cuddly.

“Just spotted on my way to work: Ugly Naked Guy wearing flip-flops, a pair of tight--really tight--short-shorts that were shiny satin fabric in a mint green color, also wearing a wife-beater tank-top thingy, and carrying a big, GIANT umbrella, I guess to protect him from the sun since it's not raining today. I mean, it was huge. And carrying some kind of piece of paper, walking down Snelling towards Summit. Who the fuck knows. Good gawd. Anyway, I'm going to work now. I hope y'all have a good day [with that image in your head].”

I've been keeping my eye on this Weather Dude for a while now. Sometimes it's funny; sometimes it's not. This one is pretty okay. It's yesterday's, though:

Then there is the Dinosaur Comix from today (you might have to click on it to see the full width):

but which song goes with which, ah, THAT is the question

I think there might be some people on my f-list who aren't reading this yet, and YOU TOTALLY SHOULD BE. The proof is in the pudding, people.

Of course, my [info]weathernerds comm is all over this.

Also, someone in my [info]seth_rogen_fans comm astutely alerted us to six clips from the upcoming Pineapple Express movie. Ohhhhhh, Seth, I love you so, even though you're Canadian.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I submit to you for evidence Reason No. 348393020394857 why I can never, ever, ever, ever, ever work the day shift:

Currently, the time is 10:50 a.m. Central Standard Time, and after calmly awakening to the sounds of kitty purrs at 9:37 a.m. Central Standard Time and lingering in bed for a half hour or so, I am now sitting on my balcony enjoying the cool midmorning breeze and leisurely drinking a cup of tea and eating a piece of toast. This task could never be accomplished in the heat of an afternoon after a long, hard day at work. Never. And I cannot imagine a world where one doesn't get the chance to have an International Coffee moment like this.

Heh.

Every day should be like this.

So the mama squirrel is back. Remember last year? Yah. At least I think it's the same one. I have to see her tail in order to be sure. But she's definitely got babies again. The kitties are going crazy. I'm gonna have to keep the A/C on and the windows closed until she leaves. Boo.

Tea!

I think I have found unsweetened green iced tea nirvana. I found this tonight while shopping at Kowalski's and perusing their GINORMOUS tea section. Good cripes, it's overwhelming! But this jumped out at me because of the blueberry goodness. AND NO EFFING SUGAR! And it still tastes pretty okay. It kind of tastes like blueberry-infused water w/ a hint of green tea flavoring. Whatevs. It's not soda or milk or juice or just plain water.

Otherwise, I got nothin'. I don't have school again until next Monday, so I'm planning to get my drink on Wednesday night at a classmate gathering. w00t!

Oh, I know! I came home after the weekend to find my apartment kind of overrun by fruit flies! WTF? I have NO fruit or old food in the house. I need to find that fruit fly death recipe.
