10:45PM - Go! Speed! Go!
I'm having something of a shitty time right now. Health currently sucks. Completly stressed out. Seeing years of work and about $20K go down the drain. I'm on the verge of the one true black Irish funk of which all others are but mere shadows.
Went and saw Speed Racer today. When I was younger, so much younger than today, I used to come home from school and watch speed racer and revel in all its campy glory. I loved that show. I've often said i would watch NASCAR if it were like races in Speed Racer.
Saw the film in IMAX today. And it made me happy. For a few hours at least, it took my mind of the disaster that is my life.
Go! Speed Racer! Go!
12:43AM - Closing Night for the Grinch
We survived closing night.
Technical problems occurred, as expected.
The seniors conducted pranks as expected.
A lot of people who told me they were coming, did not-as expected
The cast party was the usual disturbing mess and was better for drinkers and couples-as expected
The Powers That Be, despite much encouragement from several key cast members still failed to ever say anything encouraging to me about hiring me-as I expected.[ Particularly worrying since their inaction has made it so no one else can hire me either and the hiring opportunities essentially end this week]
Now, I'm tired, stressed, green, and in considerable physical pain
As the sainted Rowlf the dog said, "It's not often you see a guy that green have the blues that bad."

10:21PM - Grinch Night 2
Survived night two
long day
think we had two fights by 6:55 Am. And more continued throughout day. One of my students gave another a broken nose. Good times...
nasty headache all day-presumably caused my makeup/hair.
Made being the Grinch even more fun
Sound was a little better tonight
in other news, while one might think the being i nthe play with the Powers that be would provide them an opportunity to perhaps make me feel valued or like i'd get hired next week, such is not the case
still no love for the grinch

11:13PM - Grinch Night After Action Report
We survived opening night
Went well enough
I got put into my costume and makeup about 3:30
Once I'm in, I'm in. No getting out. No eating. No drinking. No anything.
Suit and make up and hair painting all very very hot and headache inducing
Had some pictures taken-if they come out, they'll be posted.
Play ended about 8:30-9 PM
Its 11 PM
Just now finally degreened
Blech
Back at school at 6 AM. Then Play again.
As I sang on stage before the play today, "Its Not Easy Being Green"

11:29PM - Iron Man
Went to the 8 PM premiere.
my usual local friends and gamers went
Ran into Loopy, my favorite cool-local-who-I-never-get-to-see. Got to spend some time with her and sort of meet the group she was with. That was cool and must be done again.
Everyone seemed to love the film.
Go.
Stay through end credits.
Good fun flick to kick off the Summer season.

I started my classes a year ago tomorrow.
Its been a ridiculous amount of classes [sometimes at the same time in different locations]

Lots of being waylaid by jackassery

Done now. Transcrpts in hand [knock wood that accreditation holds until aftyer I get hired]
Now its up to my Principal to interview me and hire me despite the social studies department chair being against it

2:10AM - The Weirdest Whoniverse film you've never seen
BBV Productions has released a new DVD titled ZYGON. You may remember the Zygons as the bodysnatching/shapeshifting suction cup covered, Loch Ness Monster controlling Global Warming causing baddies of the early 70s 4th Doctor adventure Terror of the Zygons. [they also appear in a book I would love to own called Doctor Who: BODYSNATCHERS,and in the upcoming 8th Doctor Big Finish audio The Zygon Who Fell To Earth]
ZYGON deals with a female psychoanalyst who gets involved with a patient suffering memory problems and weird dreams. yeah, he's a zygon who has forgotten that he is pretending to be human. and there is another Zygon out there who wants the psychoanalyst to help him remember what he really is.
Its adult content. Sex. Violence. Lots of full frontal nudity, male and female. The DVD case alone makes this clear. If it doesnt, the opening scene does. It is in both PAL and NTSC format. The pacing is a bit off and the CGI is merely okay.
As for the story, it has a moment or two that is interesting and weird. On some level it might make an interesting coment or two on identity and humanity. Or on duty and the kind of collateral damage the follows in the Doctor's wake. Or maybe i've given this too much thought.
I think of ZYGON as a TORCHWOOD episode without Torchwood [Course, if it had been an episode of TORCHWOOD, the psychoanalyst would have been one of the Torchwood team]. It actually manages to justify the existence of those monkeys in the armory. Modern Earth is clearly home to lots of violent sex-crazed aliens. ZYGON is what happens if the Torchwood team stays in the Hub eating pizza. Yeah, those Torchwood people are messy and of dubious competence and professionalism, but they could have solved this situation with three bullets and a quip and a smile from Captain Jack....

11:47PM - If I dont Make it to Detroit, This May Be Why
In the last 4 hours, i have no been attacked twice by three large and vicious pit bulls-in my front yard.
They have come into my yard about 8 PM -and come back just a bit ago when I was putting stuff into my car for school in the morning. They are fast and vicious. They have no fear of humans as the first time they attacked, I never made it outside my house. They saw me coming to the door and lunged at my security doot.
The police have been called.
Naturally, the dogs are gone by the time the officers deign to drive by.
