numbernone had a song that Wesley loosely wrote about him (I'd point you to the page with all the info about it but it's not there anymore, and too bad because it was hysterical)... I say "loosely" because they never actually met and Wesley didn't know the slightest bit about his subject. He just said "I will WRITE you the song that is about Jed Davis!" It took several months to get the recording out of him because every time he tried to mail it, voices would steer him in another direction. Every time someone called the group home where he lived, one of the other residents would explain that Wesley was "very famous" and "out on tour," even if he'd just gone for a few hours. Eventually the song arrived on a CD with a bunload of other tracks on it... I don't know if they determined whether or not they had ever been released. Hmmm.
One of my favorite moments at WHRW-Binghamton was the time someone came in during a meeting and mentioned that we'd gotten the new Wesley Willis album in. Everyone kind of nodded, until the guy announced, "...and he has a NEW SONG!" Eyes bulged out all across the land. I loved it.
Rock over London... rock on Chicago. Pepsi... UH-HUH!
RIP, Wesley.
