Current music:vichy government - "how to become a cult figure (demo)"

semaphore on the dancefloor // hot on the heels of
chz thanks to everyone who came to my party. strategy for coping w/being the focus/host/&c was staying on the dancefloor the entire night, except to concoct/drink glowing blue muck (absinthe & illegal monkey glands) &c.
had more complaints about the strobe than the music, luckily. & the smoke machine set off a hitherto unknown smoke alarm, but people sort've incorporated it into their dancing. pretty awesome dancefloor - st3fan pum1ce! tz3-m1ng m0k! the myst3rious t4peman from the ch4ndeliers! who breakdanced! first time in my life I've gotten to dance to stuff like sonz of a loop da loop era, t99, phuture assassins in a context outside my bedroom. about as many random absences as I'd figured, though some had more hilarious explanations than others. sorry for not being that much help to people who needed it. didn't get to sleep until 1am monday morning, ha. anyone know who kicked in our back window while our flat was rocking out up the road to the ch4ndeliers? who goes to a party before midnight, anyway?

though, post-party, I'm broke as arse (anyone read broken arse, by the way? I don't think I've read/attended a single NZ play) - had to drag out my credit card to pay for party related bullshit + um having thee worst day on the world on friday & deciding to get myself a birthday present in the form of energy flash (haha I'm v. excited about making s4rah g. read this!) & rip it up & start again from amazon.co.uk - oh well, back to eating porridge full-time. GET ONE SECONDARY JOB. sorry I haven't gotten you money for the new cd, lucylurex. if only you took credit cards!

um sorry for not replying to everyone's emails. hopefully I'll get my shit together early next week, post-FINAL KISS & MAKE-UP EVER, DJing at the teenwolf gig & um my parents visiting. got yr postcard, [info]mixed_metaphor/l. - it's one of the three things on my wall. &c&c&c.

(ps: hey nz vinyl/trademe/ebay kids, do I have a hope in hell of getting a copy of the sun stabbed 7"? haha or a yamaha cs-15?)

(pps UPDATE: OMG superpitcher to play NZ september, holy shit holy shit, k-thanx for the email bn1. how WAS saturday night, starry?)

Were there any of those haircuts?

Hey why do you want Sunstabbed; I thought you didn't care for owning vinyl recs.

Sorry I didn't turn up! Really! You can prob work out why (it begins w/a "p" and other stuff you know about too), yeah, sorry. I guess you did Ok. I got a Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band Lp in Devonport today, it isn't "THE GOOD ONE" but it's awfully good. I've never seen "Sun Stabbed" for sale on trademe but I don't check the 45s much (hardly ever even). Yeah, why do want it? Flatmates have turntables I guess but wouldn't "Making Losers Happy" be better? The sleeve isn't all that hot. How accusatory. Just interested. The Yamaha, I'll be cocky and say YEAH COURSE you can get any kbd mostly eventually, esp an 80s onwards one. I'm presuming this is from then? Maybe I shouldn't say, I don't know what it is.

I wished you'd have come, I wanted to introduce you to some people (plus haha some begins-w/a-"p" would've helped take the edge off all the BZP); no worries tho. after the whole billions-of-7"s at RG, I'm sort've taken w/them aesthetically, & I wanted to look at the sleeve (now I've thought about it, I know where to look :

good work w/the Dr Buzzard!
see you on thursday - if yr round this weekend, maybe saturday? my folx are up that night + I'm DJing at a teenwolf gig @ the odeon, & I'm down to rotorua sunday-thursday. be good to catch up.

hey cool. I've got "The Atlas" on my to-read list after Gray/Melville/Wedde/Mitchell.

What else were Fairlights used for? Hugely famous name obv., but I can't really place them. They were used for pretty much everything, right?

Yeah. Kate Bush had some v obvious Fairlight stuff, pretty sure it's on a lot of "Hounds of Love" (esp the title track). I just checked actually, and yes there's Fairlight, played by Kate herself. It's on PSB stuff, Kylie, whatever. You know what they do, right (in case you wanna dload that track to listen or something)?

His DJ set was GREAT, his 'live' set was GOOD and oh my life is he the cutest little DJ ever! RickyT is more eloquent at describing this sort of thing than me, so ask him for exact details of "tunes dropped"! Haha there was such a Kompakt geek moment when "a little twinkling sound" came in, and Rick and one other bloke just screamed "YES!!" whilst everyone else went... ah... HEIN?! Eh yes fun fun fun go see him!!

He didn't wear a scarf tho :(

Did you hear Vitalic's laptop was nicked? Fvckers.

'live' set? y'mean he like SANG & maybe played keyboard or something? WOOOOO. did he dance behind the decks? michael mayer kept doing the "stirring the pot" dance when he was here! & um haha yes I'll bug RickyT, as I am a sad trainspotter. that really sucks re: vitalic! music as we know it may have been set back a year!

Yes! Never trust a DJ who doesn't dance, he was so absolutely adorable but no stirring pot dances, I am glad as it might have had to be totally OVAH between us.
