9/10/08 03:38 pm - Sooooo...

Living off of three hours of sleep isn't that bad, but living off of four hours of sleep on a 36 hour train ride isn't so fun at all.

The train ride was a blast, and I would travel that way again in a heart beat.  We got hooked up with Sleeper seats instead of the Coach ones.  Then because of that was invited to do a wine and cheese tasting FOR FREE!  We even received a free bottle of wine that we enjoyed with our steaks that night.

I swear my head and feet are on strait, but I keep feeling dizzy and a little bit vertigoish. Like that was going to stop me from going to the Mall of America.  It's huge.  Jas stayed back to sleep, but Tim, Deanne and I only got the South and some of the East side done, but amazing lay out and many many many stores.  Three floors of stores, aquarium and amusement park.

We just had dinner with Deanne and Tim, Tim's brothers family with the two darling daughters who will be in the wedding, Mama Jo and Phil.

In an hour I'm taking the little girls swimming and then my parents will be flying in. I don't think I will be able to sleep anytime soon.  The great news is that Jas and I have our room set up like a coffee bar.  Both laptops set up on our living room table, Starbucks in the fridge, low lighting and The Decemberist playing in the background.

9/2/08 08:04 pm - I know I know

My mother is going to kill me for saying this.

I LOVE TANNING BEDS!  The fake rays gives me REAL raidence.  I'm not saying that I'm going to go everyday.  Right now I'm just going to get my body ready for my sister's wedding.  BUT I do see myself in the future going when I'm sad.  Seriously I walled in the door  at 7pm and Jas totally saw a different glow about me.

8/16/08 03:47 pm - Our Red Neck Town

Is trying to get rid of the Red Necks :(  Whats next are they taking away our beer cozies?

8/7/08 12:29 pm - 9

YEARS.  In a way am I supposed to be in shock, or saw  this coming long long ago when I was a 18 year old?

Jason I love you.  I can't wait to invest in some rocking chairs, but look how far we have come.  WE ALREADY HAVE OUR PORCH.

7/29/08 08:46 pm - Wouldn't you like a new rock bed?

Sunday morning I got a call from my mom.  "We had to leave our house due to our river in front of our house flooding the area.  We made it up the mountain safe with both dogs (Jack Russel pulling mom up from the leash and the yorkie on my dad's back in the backpack).  The river was running very fast and down river until a few big trees got stuck on the bridge and a car with the head lights on and possible people in it (still don't know) got stuck with the hood under the bridge.  Dad said that he saw the break lights applied just before the car slammed into the bridge. Thats when the water really started to rise and we had to move our cars that were in risk to going down the river."

My mom was in tears when she was telling me about the car slamming into the bridge.  I have been chatting with her everyday since.  No flooding in there house, yet there are over 250 homes in this small mountain town (population 8,000) that got swept away, 300 in shelters, and 2 confirmed deaths. Over 30 bridges have been destroyed and many people had to be lifted out on a 200 foot line due to the tall trees.

Right now they are staying at a friends house due to the problem that they don't have a road nor a bridge to get back to the house.  The only way is hiking down the mountain and my mom really can't do that again unless it's a death risk situation, but they have a lovely rock bed all around the house ;)

Here is the car under the bridge with my parents house in the background. What a set back for this small mountain town. I'm still in shock that my mom climbed the mountain.

7/13/08 01:43 pm

I had a busy weekend.  Friday I hosted a bachelorette party for my friend Kelly.  Didn't get home until 4am.  Then Saturday morning I awoke to my friend Krysztof and Karen knocking on my door for a scooter ride.  So Half way awake we headed out to meet up in Bremerton where we were greeted with almost 40 other scooters.  Here are a few pictures of the scoot days.

6/20/08 11:01 am - Wii FIT

Crap. It has been too long since I posted.  But in a way I'm happy that I haven't.  It proves to me that I have been keeping busy with life, and enjoying the sun, and friends closer to me.  Not saying that I don't miss you all.

We got a wii fit.  I love it.  My abs have been hurting every day, and there is one balance game that I'm really competitive about.  Seriously when I my score gets beat, I try forever to beat that previous score.

Here is the story of how we got our wii fit, because if you haven't heard its hard to find one.  Well unless you want to pay 150 for one instead of the regular 89.

For two weeks I have been calling all the stores and asking if they had any.  None of them would put one on hold and tell me that it's never a set schedule of when they come in.  Except for when I called Fred Meyer.  I was told that they would have a shipment in on Sunday morning.  So I got up early, yes I Keri awoke at 6:30 on a Sunday!  Once at the store I was informed that the information I received was wrong and that they won't know when they get one.  I was pissed and talked to the manager.  They were so rude about it and were not wanting to try to solve the problem and do anything to help me out.  So I went home empty handed and just went about my day ready to do the same thing of calling all the stores and asking if they had any.  Well around 4pm I got a call on my cell from our friend Shari.  She told me that her neighbor was just at Fred Meyer and  picked up a wii fit.  They only have 4 left, and this was 30 minutes ago.  Jas and I were on our way home from lunch and I flipped a u turn and Jas wanted out.  So I got to Fred Meyer and there was a line of people checking out. Some had items, and some I think were in line to ask about wii fits.  Well I wasn't going to be stuck in line, so instead I looked around to see if there were any workers open to help.  Sure enough there was a guy just entering the area fixing his name tag,  I B lined to him and asked him for a wii fit.  He went behind the counter and picked up one and brought it to me.  "Would you like to check out now with the last one?"  "YES. YES. YES!"

I love this thing, and if you love working out, and being competitive and yoga then go find one.  Or just come over.

5/9/08 10:42 am - Really Sad news.

Last night after my two lacrosse games I noticed I didn't make the ferry.  So I drove around.  On my way I called Jason to let him know and see how he was doing.

"I have something bad to tell you, but I'm not going to tell you until you get home."
"Jason, if you don't tell me now, I'm going to speed home and that isn't safe."
"Ok,  Uncle Steve killed himself tonight."  I could hear the emotion in his voice and the tears about to flow.
"Oh My God, is your mom alright?"
"I think she is still in shock, but I can't concentrate."
"Ok well I'm not going to coach tomorrow so I can be there for you, lets call your mom in the morning and see how she is doing."

Our family is in shock.  Steve was an energetic  retired engineer  who always laughed and longed to make others laugh.  He left behind a supportive wife, two step daughters who he adopted as his own, and three grand kids.

Still total shock.

4/23/08 06:00 am - Truffles

I had my first order due today.  I guess it's staff appreciation day. One of our friends on the ferry took advantage of my yummy truffle talents and ordered 12 boxes of 4 truffles each.  Jas and I made oreo, mint, irish cream, and peanut butter truffles.  I found cute boxes and bows.  Then drew out a truffle label.  I'll post pictures later.

4/16/08 09:51 am - OH BY THE WAY

Maybe I should let you all know that I'm coaching again.

Bellevue called me to do a few goalie clinics.  The head coach then took note in my open schedule and asked me to come on as an Assistant.  I talked it over with Jas, and though it will be late nights for a month and a half. he could see and feel the new joy already flowing out.  Then I found out late last week that I will also be taking over the JV team, due to there coach (a great friend) almost at the end of her pregnancy.

Happy Happy Joy Joy dance.

4/16/08 09:44 am

Sore

Everything so SORE!

Coaching for 5 1/2 hours yesterday was fun, and grueling.

Just yesterday I was informed I was taking over the JV team.  So in one day I needed to learn team players names, and positions they played.  We lost.  I feel partly because I didn't know the team well enough.  Yet I also want to blame the coming back from Spring Break.

Today will be another long coaching day.  I'm going to start keeping track of my hours.

Last night when I finally got home (drove around due to the ferry time not working out) I was cold.  I crawled into bed and still was cold.  Heating blanket on, still cold.  Two extra blankets, still cold.  Adding another layer of clothes finally warm.  Too bad it took another 2 hours.  I fell asleep around 2:30am.

Now I'm sore and tired.

3/26/08 08:18 pm

I was invited to Bellevue to help out the girls lacrosse team.  Today I got paid to teach four girls how to become goalies.  I had a blast ,and it was great seeing the old girls, who are now all Seniors.  After chatting with the head coach he asked me if I would like to come back on as the Assistant coach.  Meaning I would be in Bellevue four days a week from 6-8pm.  It would pay,  I would be getting extra exercise running with the gals, and it would only last 2 months.  I'll know for sure next week more details, but really I'm thinking about doing it.

I was greeted with hugs and shock.  The coaches kept it a secret, but told them that a goalie coach would be joining today's practice.  By the end of the practice I had the girls in sweat, one girl puking (I think she was sick with the flu too) and more hugs at the end.  Now thats what I call a great practice.

I think I would only do it because it is my senior girls, and seeing them really meant a lot to me.

Yet it would add me not arriving home until 9:30 at night, just to kiss Jas goodnight.

3/25/08 08:33 am - Deanne's dresses

3/23/08 09:30 pm - Still learning!

When I get nervous I tend to complain.

When a room is quiet I feel like I'm supposed to talk.

When eating with family or out I would never talk with my mouth full.

When I have to dress up I always bring a sweatshirt to change into for the ride home.

When talks of babies are about I can't help it but to want one of my own.

When life is hard I always take some time to breath and shop it out.

When I am competitive I whine if I loose.

When in a line to check out, I avoid the magazines and look to the many odd flavors of gum.

When a friend is in need I bite off more than I can chew.

When I walk up stairs my knees crack.

When I say I want something noting can hold me back from getting it.

And this is why I'm still learning.

3/21/08 10:16 pm - Got truffle?

For the last two weeks I have been making truffles.

Oreo, peanut butter, and Girl Scouts thinmints.

Of course I have been sharing them like crazy. Many have told me I should quit working as a Nanny and start my own little truffle shop.  I want to make more but I'm running out of ideas.

I have thought of adding Irish Cream,  and Hazelnut.

Any ideas?
