I sprained my ankle. Urgent care says no fracture. I am having the best week ever!

Obama!
My Stoli Vanilla says that it's "Genuine Russian Flavored Vodka." I know it needs a hyphen, but I like thinking about it as tasting of Russians.

Hey, I hate those friends-cut announcements, but there we are. I like LJ as an interactive deal, not just as blogging, so I trimmed some folks that seems like are no longer on LJ (that I don't know in person) or who don't really interact with me.
In other news, I don't think I've posted about the dogs -- about a month ago, I realized that they finally do love each other and that Riley is slowly becoming well-behaved. I've had sole charge of them lately since Jeff's been off on business trips a lot more, and they're such good company.
Visitors galore in April! Sarah, Jamie, potentially friend Emmy the libertarian/Republican. And nearly spring!

This story features my friend's boyfriend. The Post reporter shadowed them for three months, doing a story about local Latino hiphop artists whose lyrics center around their experiences as Americans, as Latinos, as immigrants. It was a feature story and the video of their recording session is really cool -- and my friend is the beauty in the black hat. Please watch and read and maybe even comment to balance the bigots who clearly haven't read the piece at all.

When I get way, way behind on LJ, it snowballs. I can't bear to post, since there are too many things to post about, and I can barely keep up with my friends page and end up missing everything. Maybe if I took the communities off, now that I don't read LJ every day...
Anyway, despite my optomistic update, my laptop is indeed a paperweight. I could pay someone to fix it or wait and buy a spankin' new one, which I will probably do eventually. It was already frustrating because I couldn't use it in all the ways I wanted to (burn cds, for a very major example) and it would freeze up and be annoying in general. I am aware that my first inclination is to throw out whatever has broken rather than try to repair it. Of course, we're usually talking about cheaply-made clothes or plastic kitchen items, not computers.
So I'll catch up soon. I predict a busy and frustrating remainder of 2007. The dogs are good, though.

Driving back with a hangover and resulting serious motion sickness was awesome. It was a very, very long ride. But the wedding was wonderful! Hooray Bateses!
My camera is broken, so I can't show you the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers I've ever seen in my entire life.
Jeff has a coworker, Lori, who is just about the most giving and wonderful human being on the planet. For some reason, she thinks that *I* am, though, because I found out that she likes the ridiculous peanut-butter-spread-saltines (ick) that Jeff loves with his lunch, so I started packing her a set along with his. I'll send along other things here and there, like the all-natural cookies from Trader Joe's with info on the nutritional content (she's all about her health, especially holistic care and organic food) on a sticky, or something. In return, she'll go to the farmer's market and get me fresh scones or some other delicious confection; she'll write me thank you notes in her beautiful calligraphy; she gave me a $60 gift certificate to Lush for a graduation present. Today, she went out and bought the most gigantic bouquet from a florist and sent them home with Jeff. They are just amazing -- roses, lillies, gerbera daisies, irises; it looks like it must have cost about $100, given the size, quality and types of flowers. It's just beautiful.
I have to admit that I'm a little overwhelmed, but if you could meet her, you would understand. She's just vivacious. Sarah, you know her! She's just an amazing woman. I have to think of something nice to do for her, especially because I was having a terrible afternoon, but for now, I'm just going to enjoy them.

Graduation was cool. I'll update later.
For now: I walked in during the thirty seconds of the Preakness. Jeff said, "Street Sense is losing."
Me: I hate horse racing. ... Ooh, he's winning!
Jeff: Yep...
::we watch the photo finish::
Me: The brown one won. ... Yep. Poor Street Sense. I hate that they whip them. Poor horsies. That hurts them.
Jeff: Not as much as it hurts them to lose.
Asshole.

Think of me at 3pm, please. Interview.
I'm leaving work a couple of hours early to run a few errands to prep for my second interview tomorrow. I want to get a new outfit, if I can find one for a good price; I need to run off some more bound color copies of a report that they liked the first time around; I have to figure out my accomplishments and work backward to identify the skills they demonstrate so I can answer those "Tell me about a time that you ..." questions...
Tips from anyone on either end -- interviewer or interviewee -- would be totally appreciated! :-)
