| Okay, seriousness time. There's something that's been bothering me a lot lately, in light of the California supreme court declaring the gay marriage ban unconstitutional. There is a huge backlash here of people who want to amend the constitution to re-instate the ban, and I am... baffled as to how they can live with themselves. They're actively working to make other people suffer, and for fuck's sakes, they _have to_ see this. They have to see the profound sadness in homosexuals who cannot marry. They have to see how much it hurts these people.
How can they live with themselves? These are "normal" people who like to think they're good, and yet they're doing something so... evil. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| | So completely unrelated to my previous post, I'm updating! I'm doing well in precalc, got a 93% in the class (woot, second highest grade! Someone has a 98% O_o) and it looks like I can pretty much ace the class if I get a B on the final. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |

| Probably obvious at this point to any of you still watching this journal, but when I started out in furry, I thought that people attacked furries all the time because they were an easy target.
As time has gone by, I've grown to realize more and more that, in fact, the furries earned it by truly being the dregs of the internet. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| Every time I see/hear someone in the media say China is "cracking down on peaceful protests" I want to hunt them down and force them to watch videos of the "peaceful protests." The Tibetan protesters are/were rioting, setting fire to buildings (often with people still in them) moving in packs and pouncing on Chinese or muslims caught alone and beating them severely, sometimes to death.
And seriously, let's say Tibet _was_ freed. Mind you, it wouldn't be freed, it would be given to the government in exile, an oppressive feudal theocracy. What the fuck to people think would happen? Tibet is a landlocked, barely hospitable region, and they've relied on trade with China for about as long as they've existed in order to survive. But oh, they'll just summon all the food and supplies they need using their Buddhist magic, or something. Never mind, oh, I don't know, FUEL. And what about the non-Tibetans? It's already been shown that the Tibetans are extremely racist and intolerant of others living in their territory. What about them? Don't they count as people too?
The fact of the matter is, though the PRC is far from a paragon of kindness and compassion, Tibet _needs_ to be part of it to survive as a relatively decent region, otherwise it will become a third world country. | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |

| Is it just me, or of the various classes of OS zealots, are Windows zealots the most overly hostile towards the users of other OSes? (especially Mac users) Linux and Mac users tend to be zealous, but they usually stick to bashing Windows itself, not being dicks to people for using Windows. (IE is another matter; that fucking browser breaks the web, and needs to be stopped.) You get the assholes in any of these groups, but I rarely run into Windows zealots who _don't_ act hostile towards me for being a mac user.
Then again, perhaps it's a numbers thing. We don't act hostile towards Windows users because there's so damn many of them, we'd be alienating far too many people. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |

| | Solved one of the great mysteries that have been floating around in my head since childhood tonight. When I was a teenager, I heard a song I really liked on the radio, and recorded it on tape, and I never got to find out what it was called or who it was by. I remembered it tonight, and had enough lyrics to find it. It turned out to be Faith No More - Last Cup of Sorrow. Go figure. Decent song, shame it came from a band that inspired nu-metal. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| | Okay, so I'm making this post primarily because of the apparent "boycott" (not writing in your stupid blog for a day is not a boycott, you mongs) but not so much I think what they're doing is silly, but because I can't seem to find an explanation of it outside of the occasional vague allusion to the cause; everyone is talking about whether or not they'll participate in it, and no one saying WHY it's happening. Way to lure in the people outside of the know, there. :P I've been able to gather it may have something to do with new accounts, like they'll only be sponsored (ad-driven) from now on. If that's the case, I don't see what the big deal is. People are getting indignant over new people not being able to create accounts like mine which are just a drain on space and bandwidth, and give zero revenue? | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |

| I saw "There Will Be Blood" tonight. _great_ movie, I recommend it highly. Though I can see how some would find it boring. There are a lot of scenes with no dialogue (in fact, the only word uttered in the first 5 minutes or so is "no") which are beautifully filmed. I've noticed a lot of people seem to be kind of opposite to me, where I find long bits of dialogue with little visual stimulus boring, they find long bits without dialogue boring.
My only gripe is the music. It's a bit too loud, and it is used out of place a lot, though I think the out of place usage is intentional to keep you feeling uneasy, and it succeeds in that. Heh. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| | I ran over a nail or something on the way to Asia Mart (and never made it there, dammit :( ) and not only did the True Goo fail to seal it (which is understandable for a hole that size, I'm not sure slime would seal that either) but it _squirts out_ and coats your innertube and the inside of your tire, making an awful mess. I think I'll just go back to Slime and see how that works out, because I used to use it, and never had problems with it. I only use True Goo because it's the only sealant the local bike shops sell. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Ugh. Every time I hear Clinton speak, I grow more and more unsettled by the thought of her becoming president. She (ironically) accuses Obama of using "Republican tactics" for criticizing Hillary Care, while she has been _constantly_ using neocon tactics. She is running on a platform of "The Republicans suck, elect me because I'm not a Republican" primarily, which is the same kind of divisive bullshit the neocons in the Republican Party use. And to top it all off, she actually uses a _verbatim_ selection from the US Constitution's definition of treason to describe Obama's actions.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies or television shows. 2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each one. 3. Post them here for everyone to guess. 4. Fill in the title once it's guessed. 5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions. Totally cheating, you dirty cheaters.

| | I decided to be brave today, and got a balut egg when I was at the asian market. I boiled it for half an hour, and ate it with some soy sauce, and honestly, it's not bad. The egg yolk was a bit unpleasant (I'm not big on egg yolk in general) but the duck embryo was not bad. The texture was fine (no real crunchiness) and it tasted a bit savory and tangy. I'd not go out of my way to eat it again, but I'd not refuse it if offered in a situation where it would be impolite to decline. | comments: Leave a comment |

Getting my math groove back. I _almost_ didn't take precalculus this semester because the textbook was the most expensive one ($150!) but I decided I could return it in the first week if it didn't work out. It was worth the expensive textbook, though. My instructor is great, and I'm doing well in the class. (pretty sure I'm acing it so far) What's more, I'm actually starting to love mathematics again. Solving equations is fun (though graphing is still boring) and I enjoy the challenge. I'm working to get an A in the class, though it's not going to be easy. I definitely can get a B in it, that failing. After that, onwards... to calculus! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
