    As root canals go...
....it was pretty darn good - much less pain than the visit that caused the flare-up of the nerve, that being the crown prep. Two shots of novocaine, numbed quickly, hardly any pain, minor discomfort as the work progressed.

All done in one visit, too.

Now, to schedule the crown placement. Oh, and of course make sure I have ibuprofen on stock, it may yet hurt for up to a week. La la la.

    Maid Marion
"Caldwell, Jennifer L. Age 37, passed away June 7th after a courageous battle with breast cancer."

She was Maid Marion on Avalon - I remember chatting with her from the sysop console, going voice. Going out for ice cream in the middle of the night to meet her. Getting to be friends.

Regretfully, I'd lost touch, though I'd pleasantly met up with her at a party a couple of years back.

I missed one...no power on France Ave...
I'd put Sunshine on her center stand just in case of strong gusts while I was watching Indy. I came out of the theater to hard rain, which soon tapered off - turns out I missed some severe weather, as something had taken out power on much of France Ave - if MnStf is still going it's not with AC power.

Rain stopped pretty much, I got home only mildly damp.

    Let's try again....(storms)
Heading to, um, pretty much the same target area as last week. See what happens this time.

    High Risk!
Supercells probable. Sadly, I need to do some stuff this morning at work, then a drs appt, but then I'm free to chase. Probably meet up with the warm front a bit south and a bit west of here.

Yay! I've got my memory back!
found the USB stick buried in a nook in the car. I'd had twoweek old backups of what had been thought to be the important files; maybe I need to rethink backup strategies.

Now I can say I've storm chased on a motorcyle...
...seeing as that I went out of my way to find a good vantage spot to view the storm from and take photos. Let me tell you, it was an odd feeling to have a supercell over your shoulder when on a bike. There's supposed to be car roof there, and I should have radar up on the laptop.

I did arrive at the coffeeshop before the rain started. The gig went off well, music was great, company great as well. Too, I was able to share electrons with [info]tesla_aldrich when her Ducati's battery decided to complain thanks to the jumper cables someone so kindly lent to the effort.

Ride home was neat - I don't get to rid *with* people very often. I should remedy this. I know at least a couple of you have bikes & scooters in various states of readiness.

    Um....
....yeah. Why am I at work? I might go west to look at a storm. At least get Sunshine home before I get hailed on stuck in traffic.

More storm conflict (severe weather in western MN possible)

Possible watch, "weak brief tornadoes, maybe" essentially. Not really worth getting excited about, not when I had plans for the evening already, but...still. Why couldn't this happen *tomorrow*?

    Missing storms...
Today's a high risk day, probably outbreak of severe weather in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota.

    I'm not chasing.

At the moment, the most photogenic opportunities appear too far to go considering I work tomorrow and I'm still tired from the con and gas is $$$ and it'd be a long drive.

There will be more storms. :)

(Also, the zombies. Must kill zombies. Which are already dead. Um. Wait)

    California (somewhat libertarian rant)
Busy day at work, not much time to post. Saw a headline:

'The California supreme court creates a right to same-sex marriage.'

Um - no. The right is inherent, inalienable, like rights are. We agree, as people, to turn over some power, and some restrictions on our rights, for the greater good, and codified that via constitutions (federal and state), which typically enumerate some, but not all, of those rights.

So. The court recognized a right, and/or recognized that the state had never been given an explicit power to restrict that right, and said to the state "Hey, you can't not marry people."

we conclude that, under this state’s Constitution, the constitutionally based right to
marry ...may not be eliminated or abrogated by the Legislature or by the electorate through the statutory initiative process.

Now, if the people of California choose to amend their constitution to restrict the right to marry, well, that'd be something else, but the court didn't *create* anything.
