The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment.-Robert M. Hutchins

I am currently being harassed by email by someone on flickr.
Clearly my anti-hunting views, namely the image of reindeers skins being for sale and my disgust at them, doesn't sit well with him.
He has barraged me with pointless emails, making assumptions about my character and background, even calling me a chav! Apparently -according to him- I watch daytime TV all day (as Chavs do) believe everything written in the Tabloids and believe that meat arrives in little small packets oh and that I should live in London. I couldn't help, but find that funny.
I rarely ever watch TV, I don't read the papers and I am a Vegan. My father grew up on a farm so I am more then aware of how 'meat' is reared.
I have to say, if this wasn't so funny I'd miss the fact his emails were also menacing.
I'm almost expecting him to turn up on my doorstep given the lengths he's already gone to, to hunt me down and find my email address, which he even detailed in his first (of many) emails.
How it all started...
My friend and I were up town. We were entering the High Street when we saw a hut. My friend liked the look of the hunt and was in the process of getting out her camera when she spotted the sign that they were selling reindeer skins. Both her and I were equally appalled.
Its not something you expect to see in the UK anymore especially since the ban on hunting bill was passed.
We were not alone in our feeling, many other passers by were showing looks of equal disgust and some too were taking photo's. Also, no doubt, to post online.
Now, before we'd even taken a snap we noticed that the truck had its number plate covered with bits of card. Clearly they knew the impact they would have and given the smirks on their faces at the publics reaction, I would say it was very deliberate.
Both my friend and I posted our photo's on Flickr and wrote our descriptions.
My friend was the one who at first received the abuse from this person, who was being rude and using profanities at her. She removed his comments. If they were of discussion and debate she would've left them, they were anything but discussion, just abusive.
This person then proceeds to single me out from the comments left and hunt me down, eventually finding my email address through the 'whois' and proceeding to send me nasty emails. Again, resorting to profanities right from the first email.
He then proceeds to inform me of the hunting ban and that using a rifle is still allowed. Constantly trying to correct me, and labelling his own words as FACT (yes he uses capitals).
He is, in fact, wrong.
Stalking an animal with a rifle is banned in this country unless you are a farmer protecting your livestock and even then if you can let the animal go free without shooting it, you should. FACT.

He also missed the fact that these people selling the skins, aside from everything else, and actually didn't have a permit to sell at all, as I discovered after having written to the council.
"I can confirm that Barbecue Lodges have been granted a permit to hold a Promotional Event in Taunton Town Centre on both the 12th & 19th of April 2008.
However, this permit does not allow anyone exhibiting the right to sell goods without prior written consent from the Council, which in this case, they do not."
Also, that there were numerous other people that day, equally as disgusted, will he be hunting them down too?
So whose selling the skins?
