...and still writing Greg/Warrick fic, even though Warrick is dead. The audience for this delightful couple has probably shrunk from three to zero. I've tried switching fandoms, writing new characters, writing original stuff...haven't been able to do it. It's kind of very sad.

I was rereading my last post - "me stressed equals anti-social and lazy." So very true. In the last 3 months I got a job, found a nice place to live, bought a car, & forced myself to meet new people (since everyone I knew moved away). Things have finally settled though, and now I come home at five (more like seven) everyday and chill.

Yeah, so I guess I'm back in LJ Land.

Hey, for anyone that has The Sims 2 and some free time...could you possibly upload/email a file to me? My disk is scratched and there's just one measly file that won't transfer from it to my hard drive. I really don't want to download 2+ Gigs of the game for this one file. And I'm not quite willing to cough up an extra 30 bucks for a new game.

In search of [Disk]:\TSData\Res\UI\ui.package

Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to do it.

So I rediscovered the "Life List" I made during my senior year of high school and updated sophomore year in college. So far, I've accomplished 6 out of 93 - 6.5%

1. Live in the grungy part of a city (I think my current hood counts. I'm asked for change at least twice a day)
2. Make out on the dance floor (x2)
3. Write a fic (x a whole lot)
4. Live in an apartment (x2)
5. Try Sushi (x3)
6. Throw a Party (just once, and I was co-hosting.)

I also write letters to my future self on my birthdays. I find its a good way to keep track of what's changed and what's stayed the same - make sure the person I was wouldn't be disappointed in the person I've become.

Does anyone else have a life list or do future-self letter writing? I'm curious.

Alright, it's 3:30am. I've finished a load of laundry. Three more to do. Two assignments due at 5. Class at 8. Assignment due at noon. Class until 5. Work until 9. I need to stop procrastinating.

If you don't like Spoken Word or R&B or Hip Hop or Soul...then this probably won't be of much interest to you. My LJ has been all over the place this week.

So, I've been listening to a lot of Jill Scott lately. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say she's the most talented artist out there right now. Her voice is amazing and it sounds as good live as it does recorded. She's beautiful. She's political. She's an awesome singer. And in addition to all that she's a talented poet. I wish I could write like this.

My musical crush of the moment: Jill Scott.

And I love this video someone created of one of her songs/poems.

Mos Def is featured in this video. And I've had a crush on him since I was 13 and saw him on the Lyricist Lounge Show. He used to have a stutter that disappeared when he rapped. I found it endearing.

Hmm, I'd love to see someone write a fic inspired by this...an original fic. Or if someone could recommend similar poetry, short stories, novels...that'd be cool.

Alright, to all of those who've found love and for those of you still looking, Happy V-Day!

And if you have, would you be willing to answer a few interview-type questions tonight?

I just realized I have a midterm project due tomorrow. I'm supposed to interview an entrepreneur and write about it.

And, yeah, I should have been responsible and written this shit down on a to-do list or something. But, I didn't. I hate school. 4 more months...

Otherwise I'll be forced to use my creative talents and make some shit up.

Okay, the next person that tells me that Barack Obama is a radical Muslim with ties to the Middle East will get shot dead. Seriously. I will shoot them and kill them and not feel bad about it. The world will be less one more stupid person.

I actually had a teacher say this to me today. She doesn't trust Obama, because he has "terrorist ties." I won't even talk about the ridiculous accusation. Let's talk about how ignorant of a person you have to be to say this to classroom full of students. In this post-9/11 world, don't you think "terrorist" is a pretty hefty accusation to be throwing around? Don't you think you'd do a little research before you claim that someone is an enemy against the nation? I'm not talking about hefty-duty research, I'm talking about going to Google and typing "obama terrorist ties." The first link is this blog post, which points to two more sites that thoroughly disprove this statement.

Okay, and now I'm going to talk about the ridiculous accusation. I think Oprah used a paraphrase of this quote when speaking of Obama: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." MLK wasn't just talking about race people! People have based this fabrication of Obama's "ties" on three facts: his name, his father's heritage, and where he went to elementary school. They've decided the content of his character doesn't factor into the equation at all.

He worked as a community organizer to help people living in projects, he worked to increase voter registration, he was a civil rights lawyer, he taught constitutional law, as a senator he worked on issues like childcare, welfare reform, and civil rights. Let's forget all that bullshit, because it's not important right? Let's focus on these three facts that he has no control over. His middle name is Hussein. His father, who walked out when he was 2, was from Kenya and raised Muslim but described as agnostic. Between the ages of 6 and 10, Obama lived in Indonesia and spent some of his time there attending a school that had mostly Muslim students.

I guess Muslim-ness just rubs off on people, right? And I guess all Muslims are fucking radical terrorists, right? I don't even know what to call this kind of non-logic. Is it racism? Is there a name for being prejudice against religions? I know for damn sure it's xenophobic.

Hmm, just as I finished this post up, I remembered that my father was a practicing Muslim for a few years. In fact, I was around eight when he stopped. OMG, am I a radical Muslim with terrorist ties now?

*sigh* Every time I think I've heard it all, some dumbfuck decides to say something stupid in my ear. It makes me want to beat bitches down.
Thursday . January . 24th . 2008 . 21:10:00 - Do you love love?
Candy Love
So, I've been reading a lot of great fic lately...you know what ruins a great fic? Love.

"Yes, love."

"I love you, love."

"Right away, my love."

"Lover, I love you so much, love."

Okay, these aren't actual quotes from fic, but you get the point. "Love" is my least favorite term of endearment. And that's only because I can never imagine it coming out of someone's mouth naturally. In fact, I've never heard anyone refer to someone else as "love" in real life.

Admittedly, I've never been in a serious, committed relationship. I'm no authority on matters of the heart. So, I'm posing a question to all the lovers out there. Do you love love?

Books
Hey, I came across this post in one of the blogs I read: http://mashable.com/2007/10/25/30-tools-amateur-writer/

I thought some of the writers on my flist might find it interesting.

It's a list of a bunch of tools. I haven't checked many of them out yet. They listed Zoho Writer, which is cool. If you're currently using Google Docs, formerly known as Writely, I would suggest switching to Zoho. Way more functionality.
