Last night's show was definitely one of our top-five shows ever. We found out at the practice the night before that our guitarists weren't going to be able to get off in time to play so we were going to cancel or get our friend Matt to back us up. At work on Friday, I kept thinking we weren't playing so when I got home and called Andy, I was surprised to hear that one of the guitarists got off early and we could play. He ended up talking to JoEllen and told her it was our 5-year anniversary show and she said we could go on later to make sure everyone was there (with the exception of Tyler who is in MI and Seamus, who was down in Ft. Myers). Geri X, Ronny Elliot, and Rebekah Pulley played amazingly before us and there was definitely a big crowd there to see all of them. We get set up and it turns out John doesn't have his mouthpiece for the trombone so our friend Frank rushes him home and we stall a little longer. We ended up going on around 11:30pm and I thought half the crowd (the ones who were there to see the previous acts) was going to get up and leave but they all stayed. We were spot-on and played incredibly well for not really playing together in a long while. I pulled out an insane amount of energy and was jumping all over the place and I really put myself into all the songs. We finished with one of the newer songs and I couldn't believe that we pulled off a decent show. Shit, only four more to go before we hit #100!
Afterward, a batch of us went to Durty Nelly's, where we proceeded to drink and John, Stu, and I sang Lawrence Arms and Broadways songs loudly that I had playing on the on-demand jukebox. We ended up getting shuffled out at 1:30am because they wanted to close up so we went across the street to The Uptown. Everyone, except Stu and I, kept getting harassed the whole time with them having to show their ID's constantly. That led to us getting irritated and walking out. Stu and I left the group and walked to my house. We put the video he took from the show on my computer and then he left. I wish I had brought my camera to take some photos from this great night.

I'm going to be a part of a really cool art event happening next month with some of my favorite artists. I'll post more about it when things get finalized. I'll be selling off ALL of my old art and it and I'm going to do a bunch of new things for it. I just might finally get around to doing some reprints of old books, too.
Today, my band is playing in Tampa with a very strange line-up so come out to the Skatepark of Tampa (for GO SKATE DAY!) and then come to the show afterward behind there at Transitions Art Gallery. We don't have another show until July 18th at The Globe in St. Pete.
I'm going to go see Daniel Johnston in Atlanta next week! Seeing as how he was a performer I thought I'd never get to see, I'm pretty excited about that.

I'm probably going to crash like crazy after tomorrow. This whole week is just filled with music: We played the show on Sunday, I saw Gogol Bordello yesterday (AMAZING!), Less Than Jake was tonight, Rancid is tomorrow, band practice on Friday and we have a show on Saturday.
If I can get off from work, I might be seeing one of the greatest shows next week.
Also, The Fest 7 is Halloween weekend!
