Hell Night
Tonight was Hell:
http://www.eastcoastgrill.net/main/hell
I started with some raw oytser, which was very fresh and very good. I'd like to go back some non Hell Night just for some raw bar.
Then I had the blackened salmon. I started with the jalapeno rice & beans, which was spicy but mostly just good. Then I had the salmon. At least, I think I had the salmon. Some salmon was had, at least.
It hurt. A lot. I believe I must have chomped down on some nice bit of pepper or seeds at some point early in my meal. Because it hurt. Hotter than anything I've had, with the exception of chewing on a Scotch Bonnet. (Hint: don't try that at home. Or anywhere.) That was pretty close to a tie with this meal.
Most of the meal was fine (if still really spicy). But man, I had something that made it painful to eat. Closing my mouth and scraping beans, rice, or fish against the roof of my mouth hurt. Only Clara appeared to be in a similar pain, from her six bomb seafood dish (mine was merely five, and Dan ate the same meal without incident). Clara's must have been awfully painful, because she's was brought up on spicy food, unlike most of us wimps. Brian and Matt also seemed to get by without much pain.
Before that meal was over, I'd had half a pitcher of sangria and uncounted glasses of water.
That was good. I'll go again.
But maybe I won't order the fish.
