get free books (1)
I have run out of shelf space for my new books and am in no mood to pack them
off in cardboard boxes. Over the next few weeks, I am going to give away some
of my books to caring book-lovers. The books are going to go out as prizes
to the series of quizzes that are going to be posted here. And I get to be
the judge :)

Here we go then ...

Quiz 1: Bridge of Death

. What... is your name?
. What... is your quest?
. What... peculiar geographic feature does Uzbekistan has and which is
the only other country with that feature?

Go on. Off you go!

Quiz 1 Giveaway books:

The books going out today are two volumes containing
all four parts of 'The Book of the New Sun' series by Gene Wolfe.

The Book of the New Sun Vol 1: Shadow and Claw
The Book of the New Sun Vol 2: Sword and Citadel

From the back cover:

"... is an extraordinary epic, set a million years in the future, on an Earth
transformed in mysterious and wondrous ways.
Severian is a torturer, exiled from his guild after falling in love with
one of his victims, and now journeying to the distant city of Thrax, armed
with his ancient executioner's sword, Terminus Est..."

Winner of the World Fantasy, Nebula, and British Fantasy awards. One of the
most acclaimed science fantasy ever.

Rules:
. Multiple entries allowed.
. Contest is open to all, wherever you are. The winner has to arrange for
delivery of books. I'll try to help but am not going to fedex it to you :)
(People in Bangalore, Pune, Delhi, Bombay, and Kolkata don't have to worry
about delivery)
. Amusing answers have more weight-age than correct ones.
. My decision is final, supreme, and unquestionable.
. Contest will remain open till we have a winner.
. There is no expiry date for collecting the books. Take them whenever you
can arrange for the delivery.

What is this, a spanish inquisition ? It be no picnic surely. Neither a circus, nor fair. When thine hast not defined degree of landlockedness, how does thou expect a guesstimate.
Momma's still waiting.

If it mean landlocked and furthest away from oceans, then it be J&K.
If it mean landlocked by max number of other Indian states, it be MP.
If it mean landlocked by max number of other Indian states and countries, it be Assam.
You be one mean KNIGHT, you who say Ni.

For Dhar's sake, here's the English translation:

You who, me who, who tell will?
Do Ti Do, Do Re Mi, Re Ti Do So.

We are no more the Knights who say Ni. We just don't say it.

For all the hardwork that Mr Nagul -n lesan has put in, I am going to close this pretty soon in his favour. Another three days. not four days. not two days unless in process of waiting for the third day. three days.

I be the oldtimer who still says Ni! Ni! Be away with you neo post-modernist knights who don't say Ni!

off you go ... or I shall comment on you one more time.

Ni! Ni!
