So after work, I decided to go to the market to work on my fruitless quest to start bringing lunch to work and stop wasting so much money. I was calling my roommate to ask if she needed anything, and at the same time I was putting things into my purse. I put in my wallet, keys, etc, then I was like,
Where is my phone??. It wasn't in my backpack, and I hadn't put it into the purse already, so I went around checking everything around the apartment two or three times again. After my roommate told me she didn't need anything from the market and ended the call, I was like...
Oh hey...the phone appeared in my hand....oh wait. *Feels like an idiot* Sort of like the "Omg, where are my sunglasses??" when they were on my head. Not sure which is worse.
Had my 4th wine class today. We covered New York, Washington, and Oregon wines and had seven tasting samples. I'm definitely liking white wines more and more. I liked all three whites we tried well enough so I'm recording them here, in hopes that when I'm back in California for break I can maybe find these again (Pinot Gris, King Estate, Oregon, 2007; Hermann Wiemer, Dry Riesling, Finger Lakes, NY, 2006; Chardonnay, White Label, Lenz, North Fork, LI, NY, 2005) I definitely liked the Riesling the most due to its hint of sweetness. I was a bit less excited about the reds. Once again, we tried a Pinot Noir, which I didn't like too much. The Syrah was....interesting, as well as the Cabernet Franc. I think I might like them better if I had some food with me to tone down the astringency. (Pinot Noir, Argyle, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2006; Syrah, Hogue, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2003; Cabernet Franc, Palmer Vinyards, North Fork, LI, NY, 2003). Lastly, we tried a wine made from a native
Labrusca species (Lake Niagara, Semi-Dry, Widmer Cellars, New York, NV) and it totally smelled like Welch's Grape Juice or something related, and it was yummy and sweet too. I guess I'll never have a very "sophisticated" taste for wine :(
