Future of Firefox 1.0
[Start Rant]
With all the strife going on with the last details for Firefox 1.0, I find Brenden E's RoadMap post to be a perfect sound voice in the midst of chaos.

Many people form part of "The Mozilla Organization" which pays it's employee's to work on Firefox/Mozilla/TB/Gecko/etc.

Firefox 1.0, will be the most important representation of that said organization since it's creation.

Such that, I as an end user / Community and Financial contributer (donations, store purchases, etc.) am glad to see the Organizations leadership stand for what they believe.

I feel it's extremely important that the organization gives strong leadership to key players (Like Ben, etc.) but it is escentiall that it keeps it's eyes on the development as a product reaches it's milestone.

The View-Source/JS Console issue (resolved) seems to not have gone this way. I do truely hope that this was a lesson to be learnt from.

The problem today seems to be the transformation from Pheonix to Firefox. Back in the day, pheonix was controled by a elite few who chose it's future and did rightly so. Now that Firefox is born, and the Mozilla Foundation has chosen it as it's primary product, funds  and lends it's resources to it's development. The responsibilty for the future of Firefox as a product now lies in the hands of many more that the select few that once had this burden.

Should strong leadership not exists? No, on the contrary, Ben has done an excelent job. The difference now is that there is a new Leadership that needs to step up and make sure the others are doing their job and what is best for the foundation.

I applaud the Foundation for all it's hard work and incredible strong leadership in these hard times as 1.0 nears.

Anyone else notice that since ben left a few issues and things like the View-Source discussion have just popped up...? we need ben back! Also, I belive that because of his little vacation, thats one of the factors that led to the release date being delayed to from early sept, to maybe november, to now sometime around decemeber? I mean how delayed are we that its close to almost say there could be an xmas release?? geez...

While strong leadership is to be applauded when done well, the major problem with strong leadership is the ease at which it allows bad decisions to propagate. It is the responsibility of the masses to hold the leaders to account, especially when pushing ideas that the majority do not agree with. The leadership do a wonderful job of getting things done, but they have to be the right things.

Exactly. That is wht people like Brendon need to be their to keep the Leadership in check on issues like View-Source/ALTSS/JS Console/ etc.

Meaning no offense, but...

...it's spelled "chaos".

Usually I don't complain about spelling mistakes I see, but it's really grating on me right now because I see it on the feedhouse page at Mozillazine. Don't take it too personally, please -- I think I have a spelling complex. ;-)
