An armed society is a polite society

One of the things my Second Amendment-loving pals have always claimed is "an armed society is a polite society." Well, New Orleans is rapidly turning into the opening scenes of Escape From New York. Viz:

"Late Wednesday, Tenet Healthcare Corp. asked Louisiana State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard to help evacuate one of its hospitals in Gretna after a supply truck carrying food, water, medical supplies and pharmaceuticals was held up by gunmen."

"...a Chinook rescue helicopter was shot at which has slowed down an already slow rescue program."

Thank God for the Second Amendment. I'm glad to see Americans are using their gun rights responsibly. And while the End Times arrive in southeastern Louisiana, the rest of the country toddles on. Police departments in the southeastern United States are running out of gasoline.

Comments

We have some hard-line US sheriff running around over here at present, shaking his head over the softness of our law-making. He assured us on the radio this morning that we'd have to get used to guns being carried here by practically everyone, as it was coming, oh yes, it was definitely coming. And this improves our situation how?
Not that I don't agree with you, but trying to extrapolate 'normal' anything from New Orleans right now is, well, a pointless exercise.

Well, yes. 'Normal' is so far out of the question it fell off the transcript. But there's a lot of 'reasonable' or 'anticipatable' that got missed by the Powers that Be.
Given that the government decided that shooting at people "looting" clean clothes and pharmaceuticals was a better use of resources than actually rescuing people, I'm not honestly surprised that people are begining to see the authorities as a threat.
"an armed society is a polite society."

Once all the impolite peole are dead.
