Where the heck is Area 51 anyway?

Where the heck is Area 51 anyway? Apparently not next to Area 52.

Updated:

And closely related, Operation Plowshare, almost as crazy an idea as Project Orion. Where's Geordie LaForge when you need a crazy idea that just might work, Captain?

All I know is you can stay at the Dreamland Resort and then travel north or south on ET Highway and you're in Area 51 territory.
Area 51 is my backyard.

Um, almost literally.

It's part of the Nellis AFB, in Clark County, NV. Which is the air force base that I am walking distance from, if you don't mind a two-hour walk.

wikipedia says...

"Area 51 is a section of land (of approximately 60 sq. mi. / 155 km²) in Lincoln County, Nevada, USA. It is part of the vast (4687 sq. mi. / 12139 km²) Nellis Air Force Range (NAFR). The area consists largely of the wide Emigrant Valley, framed by the Groom and Papoose mountain ranges. Between the two ranges lies Groom Dry Lake 37° 16′ 05″ N 115° 47′ 58″ W a dry alkali lake bed roughly three miles (5 km) in diameter.

A large air base exists on the southwest corner of the lake 37°14′ N 115°49′ W and at least one prepared runway extends several miles across the lake bed."

The wikipedia article has an arial photograph, although it dates from 1968.

There's an arial photograph, here at Google Maps.
