I've shamelessly stolen parts of this from my own comment to
madscot comment. But still. .
The film must have been inexplicable for people who'd not read the book. Werewolf? Where wolf? Wolfsbane ("potion")? What potion? Severus grumpy. Why? (ah no, people don't worry about why, they just assume he is)
The ending was long-winded and boring.
But then it is in the book as well... A time turner. Tsk. As if they couldn't just have gone back twice, masked themselves and taken pettigrew to bring his body to the ministry. And why did Dumbledore-the-meddling-old-twit send the kids out to save Sirius? He's an adult, he should've done it himself (note to self: the book was not called "Albus Dumbledore and the prisoner...")
And if time turners are illegal, why let hermione have one? If she wants to take all the classes, let her take her third year twice. For god's sake!
Remus was very queer though. As was that hug with Sirius. Still. The tash. It's just not good.
The little talks about Harry's parents. The boy has blue eyes, not emerald green (for one). And who gives a crap about "how much like his father he is".
"my father didn't strut". You're 13 kid, you're meant to hate your father.
And talk about a lack of Snape! However the bits of AR that were in there were mmmmmmm-delicious. ("just give me a reason")What a man. ("must you be an insufferable know-it-all?")
Albus was weird. I'm not a fan I think (the elastic to tie his beard together? the "dreams" speech?)
Great directing and photography though. It brought the film and Hogwarts really to life. So much better than Chris Columbus, there's really no possible comparison.
I don't believe that Draco would wimper like a baby when Hermione puts a wand to his neck. Unless JK Rowling is planning on having him turn against the DE when he sees actual violence. Strange reasoning for a kid who looks forward to seeing a hippogriff's beheading.
Then again, as Madscot said, he is meant to be a coward....Hm.
Hermione - the girl cannot act. You. Do. Not. Have. To. Emphasise. Each. Word.
And Harry... Your parents are dead. You're not the only one with dead parents. GET THE FUCK OVER IT.

("must you be an insufferable know-it-all?")
I loved that they kept that line in. LOVE!
I don't believe that Draco would wimper like a baby when Hermione puts a wand to his neck. Unless JK Rowling is planning on having him turn against the DE when he sees actual violence. Strange reasoning for a kid who looks forward to seeing a hippogriff's beheading.
Funnily enough, that's actually a theory of mine. Draco's definitely exhibited little love foer actual physical violence so far. he's a spoiled little daddy's boy, and I can definitely imagine he'd be all "Bwuh? What? Hey, that hurts, I want my mum!"
Draco... I really do agree with you. He's got no clue what actual violence is. "waha killing mudbloods". Until he sees one getting killed. And then what.
I also think he's rather idealised what being a DE is all about, and he's going to get a nasty wake-up call when he's resuired to get his hands dirty.
I think he'll see something nasty in book 6 or 7 and then either.. get killed or turn away from the DE. I don't think JK Rowling intends to keep him "evil".
But for them we can assume that Voldie wasn't always completely crazy. That they got into it when he was still the quite attractive Tom Riddle, and are now trying to make the most of it.
Actually... you've got a point...
Of course now he's got no choice anymore, it's either take a chance kissing up to voldie, hoping they'll win and he'll get his pureblood world or... nothing. Because going to the mugglelovers is worse than anything Voldie could ever do to him or to his pride.
Hm. Weren't there as many references to werewolves in the movie as there were in the books? There was Harry's Boggart turning into a moon (which was much clearer in the movie than it was in the books), Lupin's tiredness before the Christmas holidays, Snape taking over his class and assigning the werewolf assay, and finally Hermione revealing the 'truth' about Lupin in the Shack. The only other thing I remember from the books are Hermione's allusions that she knows why Lupin is absent (she says something like 'Isn't it obvious?' but doesn't elaborate, as she isn't talking to Harry and Ron at that point). Oh, and the Wolfsbane Potion, of course. Yeah, it was rather weird when Sirius suddenly mentioned that -- how'd he know about it? And it was never explained afterwards.
Severus grumpy. Why? (ah no, people don't worry about why, they just assume he is)
*snickers* Yes, they do. His anger at Lupin and Black didn't make any sense, no. And it's funny, because he does give Lupin the look when he sits next to him at the start of the school year, like he does in the books, so apparently they are assuming the background story is there…
The ending was long-winded and boring.
I liked the ending with the broomstick, but the part where they retrace their steps is boring.
He's an adult, he should've done it himself
No, I agree with Dumbledore that it should have been Harry. He let Peter get away, and because of him Sirius won't be able to prove his innocence. This is Harry's chance to set something right, to perhaps not feel as guilty as he would have. And Sirius is the only family Harry has left -- this is his chance to feel like he can do something for his family. And yeah, it's not 'Dumbledore and the Prisoner of Azkaban', hee. :-)
As if they couldn't just have gone back twice, masked themselves and taken pettigrew to bring his body to the ministry.
That would've been one hell of a risk, wouldn't it? Surely they won't underestimate themselves. I can imagine the 'original' HHR knocking the disguised Harry and Hermione unconscious. Or things changeing in such a way that someone would've died. I think that's what Hermione says in the book at some point -- if you change one little thing, you could have a completely different outcome, and not necessarily a good one. They end up only doing the most necessary things in the book -- intervening when someone's about to die. Even with that, they might've created a catastrophy for all the others. (What if the Dementors, peeved at being banished from the lake, had attacked the castle and all its inhabitants? What if Hagrid had got arrested after all?) Luckily, they didn't.
And if time turners are illegal, why let hermione have one? If she wants to take all the classes, let her take her third year twice. For god's sake!
I chalked that up to 'the ways of the wizarding world'. Besides, letting Hermione do her year twice would be like punishing her for being zealous. IIRC, Hogwarts got permission from the Ministry to give, or well, borrow one to Hermione.
Remus was very queer though. As was that hug with Sirius. Still. The tash. It's just not good.
Hee, no. No tash. *g*
The boy has blue eyes, not emerald green (for one).
I don't remember whether movie!Lily's got blue or green eyes. If she's got blue ones, too, he still has his mother's eyes. :-)
You're 13 kid, you're meant to hate your father.
I'm with Melle, here. It's a bit hard to hate your father when you've never met him.
Albus was weird. I'm not a fan I think (the elastic to tie his beard together? the "dreams" speech?)
I'm not a fan, either. And yeah, the elastic, what was up with that? I don't remember the dreams speech…
Completely agreed. And the decors! OMG.

It's funny 'cause I was just about to comment how you described exactly Melle's theory. But she beat me to it, I see. *g* I didn't think he'd whimper like that, either. And I'm not sure he'd run upon seeing violence (though he won't be able to see the Hippogriff's beheading, either), but I do have to agree that I have difficulty seeing him participate in actual violence. So long as the violence around him doesn't affect him, he doesn't have a care in the world. When put right in the middle of it, though… I think he's a spoiled brat who'd rather be left alone than actually have to do anything.
