- 18:27 Things I dislike about Chrome: 1) No bookmarks manager 2) memory hog with many tabs open 3) long freeze when opening 10+ bookmarks 4) no pan #
- 18:30 5) no ad blocking 6) no way to get bookmarks visible without wasting screen estate 7) horrible plugin support for some inane reason 8) +more #
- 18:32 Had my eyes tested... I'm now -1.5 (left) / -0.75 (right). Ordered new glasses, will be ready next week. Yay to no more blindness for me. #
- 19:18 Little hint unnamed online US store: unless you LIKE pissing me off, make it clear BEFORE I FINISH THE ORDER that you do not ship to Europe. #

I spent a few hours last night working on a project, only to save over it just after completing it... my previous backup was from before I started :(
I have nobody to blame but myself, but it is extremely annoying to lose hours of work over a one-second action.

Wow, been a while again since I've kept this thing updated. My run on Twitter (or its clone Identica) didn't last long either.
The thing is I just don't often have the need to write anything down about myself, so that sort of defeats the purpose of a blog or microblog!
What's new for me? Well I went to the Lowlands festival and had a lot of fun there, and am now enjoying a vacation until the first of October, when I will be starting my new job. I'm taking the time to play some PC games I hadn't gotten around to, watch some DVDs, read up books, etc..
Also liking my short hair much more than I thought I would. I finally recognise myself again... wasn't easy making the transition, after all I've had it long for a good 15 years!
And... I've been lured into World of Warcraft. Going to give it a try, I can always quit if I don't like it much after all.
To my LJ friends here: sorry for being so horrid in keeping track of everyone's posts. When I don't update this, I don't even think of it, let alone checking others's :}

The new job
Aug. 6th, 2008 | 09:57 am
Time to let the cat out of the bag.
I have accepted a new job at a travel agency chain* in the Netherlands, and will be doing their networks from October one. Yes dear reader, I will finally become a BOFH.
Although initially monthly I will not be earning more than I do now, I do get a thirteenth month and many additional benefits, ranging from a standing travel insurance to a discount on all my travels I book through them.
Most importantly though is the fact that I will be getting relevant training while working there, with a guaranteed payraise once I complete the first batch of these. I am very excited about this, it's finally a big step forwards in my career.
In other news, I've decided that it's about time I get a driving license... with a little luck I'll have it by October.
*I'm not sure yet what the internet policy exactly is, so playing it safe(r) with the actual name.

For lack of content to post...
( An interesting Aspie-quiz: )
Working on a real LJ post on the new job, once I have everything clear in my head.

- 14:41 I just found one of my colleagues is a Gyllene Tider fan. Pretty amazing... most everyone I know hasn't ever heard of the band! #

- 10:05 I really hate our new SAP CRM. Nothing is working like it should and I can't even find half the tools I need in it. Productivity is down 99% #
- 13:39 The lunch ladies noticed my haircut immediately, most of my colleagues didn't say a thing. Men really never do pay attention to other men ;) #
- 16:09 Any case assigned after 16h is --nine times out of ten-- the most difficult one to solve I get all day, and causes headaches just by reading #

- 12:16 @marjoleink Prefs - Advanced - Minimum font size ;) Mine is set to 13px. Of course it helps if websites do not suck in the first place. #
- 12:39 Time for Outlook on a reimaged machine to go from fast to slow = time it takes to reindex mails. Ergo Outlook is useless for large mailboxes #
- 19:26 Had my hair cut, went from shoulderlength (or actually beyond) to <5cm. This will take some getting used to! #
- 19:49 I always feel really weird when complete strangers want to approach me on Facebook or Myspace... especially since I hardly use the sites. #

- 09:51 301st update already :) \\ Back in the office. I'm really pissed at my manager and employer but I just can't respond angrily to them. #
- 14:04 Gonna be a busy thursday and friday, multiple intake interviews / meetings with possible future employers. Does wonders for the self esteem! #
- 16:55 @asbjornu I'm forced to downgrade now at my company PC since they will not officially support IE7... or XP SP3, Office '03 SP3, etc.. :( #
- 20:55 Excel Saga is probably the weirdest anime series I've seen yet. And I've seen a lot. Why then, do I still seem to understand it? #

- 09:03 Being forced to downgrade to IE6 actually makes you see IE7 as a good browser. I must be losing it. #
- 16:10 Looks like I need to look for a new job. #
- 18:00 Interesting. Three headhunters already. There's light at the end of the tunnel! #
- 21:14 @marjoleink Thanks for the keyboard cleaning tips the other day. The thing works again :) #
- 21:23 Wow. Microsoft managed to make its help even MORE useless... watson.microsoft.com (host for error reporting) is still unreachable. 10+ days? #
- 21:47 WTF? Can't get to Megatokyo normally, but it works through a proxy? Did some DNS change and nobody informed my ISP? #
- 23:15 I may really hate the Chimp from Texas, but those protestors at a naturalization ceremony are seriously out of line. Way to spoil a moment! #
- 00:42 First time in months (if not more) I'm in a web chatroom again. #
- 02:15 Zzz time... once I win or lose this war in CK-DV. #

- 09:11 WTF Opera & Furryfox? Why do you turn my German into pseudo-Chinese in our horrible SAP CRM system? Guess i must stick with MSIE... yuck. #
- 09:19 www.ultimatepc.com/ -- if even MS' own websites prefer Flash over Silverlight, how can they hope anyone else will adopt it? #
- 10:23 @marjoleink I've no chance of winning that battle. Officially, only IE6 is supported... I'm happy it at least sort-of works with IE7. Tabs! #
- 10:49 Best thing about working from home is that I can play my music while hating my customers. LCD Soundsystem for the win. #
- 12:02 I need a new keyboard. One too many coffee spills on my current one, keys stick a bit and it isn't always recognized by the PC at boot. :( #

- 10:18 Replies don't work in any client I tried, only on the web :( Twitter really is crashing and burning as of late. #
- 10:29 I'm glad football is over (not happy with who won the last game). A little peace and quiet before the Genocidolympics begin again... #
- 12:02 I don't think I'll come in the office any longer until they fix the airco or allow us to open windows. I can hardly breathe in here :( #
- 13:38 @asbjornu Because FF vs IE is easier than Firefox vs Iexplore? Maybe MF (Mozilla Firefox) is better... would take getting used to though. #
- 15:34 CCleaner keeps breaking my Foxit. Apparently it thinks two registry keys Foxit needs are invalid. Hope CCleaner has some bypass list hidden. #
- 23:01 @tj It's not French, it's Freedomese! < /way_too_old_nonfunny_joke > #
- 23:47 Darn. Third time my DVD player locked up already... time to call it a night maybe. #

- 11:27 @asbjornu Youtube comments make very little sense to me as well. Given the quality of almost all of them, why bother to read them at all? #
- 14:08 I've gained a lot of respect for Bill Gates reading his leaked email: is.gd/FIx It's sad that Microsoft still has the same issues :( #
- 17:22 I'm getting effing tired by pundits parroting broad statements like 'Vista is a failure'. Millions of Vista PCs vs how many Linux desktops? #
- 18:50 I really hate this city. Almost 90 minutes for just 15 lousy kilometres because of all the road construction!! #
- 20:56 Gained almost 500 points in Vantage P with the (modified leaked) nVidia PhysX drivers. Too bad almost no game uses PhysX yet :( #
