Lord of the Rings FPS, AU

The Two Towers: Deleted Scenes. Film AU mostly. G-R rating, this short piece covers the scenes I would have *liked* to see in the film. Frodo/Faramir, Frodo/Sam. Very early work.

The Fall of the Steward Fourteen parts, Frodo/Faramir, Frodo/Boromir, Boromir/Aragorn, Gandalf/Lenhir (original character, Healer). R rating overall. Premise: what would happen if the Ring had never been found?

Epic Length The Roads of Middle Earth

Oops!

That's nice!

If you marked your web site with this URL and then kept updating it, in essence you'd have your own fic page.

Re: *guilty look at dusty book*

Cool--I hadn't realized that although I had come to the realization earlier in the fall, when I was still reading my Web Pages for Dummies book that LINKING was obviously the way to go. Got sucked into vampire novel and never got back to web page. Given work schedule in next few months, dunno when I'll get back to that. But I'll remember this tip.

And if my dept. runs workshop on how to "capture" images from DVDs and VHSs to put in Power POint, no doubt I can learn more about visual stuff (though will NOT do Power Point). I have a strong philosophical objection to PP due to too many administrators thinking using it improves their presentations (which it doesn't).

Re: *guilty look at dusty book*

Actually all you need to do is put this URL into your LJ info page as your web site and then you're done. Except for updating this page when you add fic. No need for web site in other words. Unless of course you want one.

:-D

And yep, there's no substitute for content in presentations, LOL!

Re: *guilty look at dusty book*

AHA, I see what you mean--didn't even think about that. And I could link from this page to the one [Unknown LJ tag] did for the RPS, and voila. Cool.

And add some other links. Whole new horizons opening up. Link heaven!

Well someday I do want one, but it's slipped a bit down on priority list due to Other Stuff

Re: *guilty look at dusty book*

I don't know what that person did, but yes, you could edit your profile and put in this page where there is a place to put a web site URL, and you would be done except for keeping this one page updated with links as you add stories and chapters.

Though of course you do keep your fics on your memories page ... but I think people also tend to look at someone's web page more if there's a link since it seems more natural and people don't necessarily use their memories page to keep track of fic (or even know about it).

Thanks!

Did it! Thanks for the tip. May go back later when I think of better name or whatever, but there we are.

Eep, screwed up name above, it's [info]makesmewannadie who did, as a pressie, a links page for all my Behind the Scenes, so I just linked to that link page.

I do keep the fics on Memory Page, plus some posts of interest in the theory area, plus, ahem, pics (droolworthy ones I want to keep around for ahem inspiration), but have noticed people like the links, all in one place, easier I guess. I still haven't figured out why the 'command' is suddenly working--first it was, then it wasn't, now it is. Great mysteries of the computerverse, I guess.

Great!

I won't have to look everywhere when I begin to read it (as soon as I have an afternoon only for me...)

Re: Great!

What a nice compliment! And glad I finally got it together (and it finally WORKED!). Cats love me, computers....not so much. So it takes me a while.
All in one place!!! Yay! Will make getting caught up much, much, much easier. *beams*

Re:

*beams happily back*

Don't know why, suddenly the href command started working when I accessed the pages from home. It wasn't earlier. I have no idea why. Innate perversity of inanimate objects around me. But now it is, so spent the last couple of weeks doing this in small increments.
I love this series SO MUCH! Thank you :D

Re: *belated thanks*

Thanks so much for leaving fb--I'm glad you're enjoying the series!

(Anonymous)

I have been reading the comments and while I have to agree that your LOTR AU series is excellent, the one I really love is your Vampire series. So my question is "Where is it now?" and "How can I find it again?"

Re:

I realized about the time I was completing it that I was insanely addicted enough to want to write it as an original novel, so I decided not to post any more parts in a public community/journal. When I talked to someone with a bit more experience regarding publishers' contracts, she explained that the contract part about work not being previously published was understood to apply to internet publication these days (and that a public journal counts as internet publication). On her advice, I decided to take down what I'd posted so far, so the answer to the second question is that it's not there any more. I did set up a friends locked community for those people who had indicated they were interested in reading it further, although what's mostly happening is revision of the earlier parts into a novel, and pretty slowly too. If you are interested in that possibility, we could talk--I have an email account with aol as ithiliana13. But that story won't be appearing in any public/fanfiction related venues from now on. Sorry!
Wow! This is way cool! You are advancing steadily in your triumph and exploitation of technology...

I'm impressed.

Also, baranduin obviously knows a LOT about this stuff.

Re: Thanks!

She so does! And not only the technicality of it all, the well, theory or philosophy of it all, the possibilities. I'm always impressed by the casual competence of experts in anything--even more when it's an area I'm NOT expert in.

'm still used to thinking in flat earth terms, or paper terms, and of course the joy of the internet (and the frustration) is the hypertextual, the linking capacity. I did learn the command earlier--but when I'd post things (you might remember), it wouldn't work. Suddenly, and I know not the reason, it started to work. So, voila!

I think I just have to go back now and find "Fall of the Steward" and make it a link page, then connect to main page, and that will corral everything (get along, little fics!) in one place.

So to speak. Hypertextually that is....

But now off to do lots and lots and lots of grading....
