End of Summer 2008

Welcome to my last freely available Saturday night.
Yep, from now on, all of my weekends are pretty much planned out until the beginning of November.
Next weekend: Birthday Party Saturday night.
2 weekends after that: Pennsic.
Weekend after those: PA Rennfaire
Weekend after that until October: MD Rennfaire
Weekend after that, Relax-a-thon, Clean-a-thon and Pack-a-thong..Er thon.
Weekend after that is November.

Yes I'd love to do something. No I'm sorry I don't have a Saturday night available.

It sounds like I'm complaining. I'm not. This is when the year gets to be it's most fun and exciting.

Pennsic, Faire, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Yule/Xmas! (Oh yeah. I'll be having one of those Holidaze things this year too. I'm not planning on a two weekend affair though.) It's 5 months away, I better get started planning.

Well, off to have a nice steak on the grill dinner. Next door neighbors are having a party. Might see if we can join them for the festivities.

Weekend recap

Friday: 1am. Bang on Door from neighbor to let us know that roommate's car is on fire. Firetrucks, Police, investigator come and leave by 3am.
Sleep in.
Get up and help clean out car from what is salvagable.

Breakfast with the roomies. This has never happened before. And now we can't say that anymore.

Laundry done and hung up to dry.

Went out to 4th party with Wife #6, minionaire, and renniecub Had a good time. Got to meet some peoples I only really see at Faire.

Saturday: Slept in.. Kind of. Didn't sleep well night before. Too much sugary sweets.

Worked on minionaire's computer and Tigermama's computer.

Went to dinner with group to Chinese Buffet in Columbia. Got to try Frogs' legs for first time. Not bad at all.

Went to evening Rocky party...Well, it started out that way but turned into a social evening with goodies. ate too many goodies.

Sunday: Slept in (Do ya see a pattern?) Groggy from crap eaten over weekend. Worked on computers more. Went to renniecub's parents' to setup new printer for him. I think that his computer will be replaced soon. He needs something with more power as the graphic software he uses for the business needs a better processor.
Dinner with midnight_reaper just before heading back to house for Tai Chi.
Got some practice time in with Tai Chi.

Sunday night: Watched Season Finally of new Doctor Who... OMPD WAS THAT AWESOME!! And that's all I'm going to say on that subject until everyone else gets a chance to watch it.

Monday: Tried to sleep in but had to go to work... Got up and went to work. Lots of water today to start flushing the system out again.

Media update: Justice League

Just finished watching Season 1 of Justice League. Finally got to watch them in order. Missed the Easter Egg on the first DVD but I did get to watch the promo they created for the show that they never used. It also included Robin, Impulse and a girl based on Cyborg who's name escapes me at the moment.

Anthrocon!! Am I tired...

Got there Friday evening and spent most of the weekend running into friends from all over the country.

Hot Tub was broken so didn't get to soak in that but it was great to see so many peoples.

Friday: Restaurant Drama. Needless to say, we won't ever be eating there again.
Friday night: Dance was cool and so was level Blue.

Saturday: Breakfast at Steel City Diner. Awesome as usual. Dressed up in the day of wrong outfit as it's close to a primitive fursuit. It's not that much of one but it does give me a reason to wear it outside of faire. (Fuzzy pants and shirt)
Dinner during the Rainstorm was excellent. (Love the Sushi)
Saturday Night: Dance. Got to see some excellent poi spinning and snuggle up with some friends. More level Blue and just general People watching. I saw Bon Jovi there! Ok, really some 19 year old kid being highly retro fashonable was dressed like him from around 1986. It was cute and yet kind of funny.

Sunday: Breakfast at Steel City Diner again. I actually got something I'll actually use. It got a tee shirt! An official Anthrocon 2008 Steel City Diner tee shirt.
In dealer's room got to say bye to everyone and we got ready to go around 3:30

We got home around 9pm.

I'll post pix as soon as I get them ready.

So I woke up with bits and pieces of "The Pope and Cardinal Breakfast Sing A Long" going through my head. Oh, nothing special. Just some of their greatest hits.

Such as:

Cream Cheese.
Milkmaid, Bring Me Some Cream.
Bow, Pray, Heaven.

and my favorite when I can actually remember the full verses.

King Richard's Faire,
Let's All Go There.
We Have Such Fun,
We Return Every Year.

Speaking of that last line. It looks as if we're not going to be making it up north this year. Then the Tai Chi crew came over at their regular time and we finished up the leftovers from the family cookout. Watched Epic Movie. Most enjoyable.

Monday: Work.

Friday: Stayed home. (Having problems remembering what we did.)
Saturday: Hot, Sticky. Went shopping and got house stuff and new clothing stuff. Yay for Joanne Fabrics 60% off sales!
Got back to the house just in time for the rains to come. Opened up house. (It was 90 inside when we got home)
Sunday: Hot but not as sticky. Went to see Iron Man. I liked it! And all those fools who left before the final scene after the credits. Hee hee. They'll never see it coming!
Saw an ad for The Incredible Hulk with Stark in it. Hee hee. Great Tie in.

Monday: Didn't sleep very well. Tossed all night. Kept waking up all night. Too much noise from all of the fans in the house.

Four day extended weekend

Friday: Lanudry. Out with friends I haven't hung out with in a long time. Might be seeing them some more in the future too.

Saturday: Trip down to Virginia to drop off books at Little Fish Comics (I'm sure they have a web presence somewhere but I don't seem to be able to find it presently. Not even a link in their newsletter. Hint hint) Picked up new TARDIS piggy bank. Note to self. Avoid Main routes when driving down. Took 3 hours to get there. Good thing I had the car fixed.

Saturday night: Ended up at the Annapolis Mall. They've expanded it...A Lot!

Sunday morning: Slept in a little. Got up and got some housework done.
Sunday afternoon: Went to renniecub's Aunt's birthday party. Most of them seem to remember me from last year. Looks like I'm becoming part of the family.

Sunday night: Made Rice Crispie Treats for the Memorial Day Party. Also watched some cartoons. We have the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 1-5. renniecub finally found volume 4 at Sam's Club.

Monday morning: Slept in for the big party. Showered, dressed and off we went.
Monda afternoon-Sometime Tuesday morning. PARTY!!

Tuesday morning: Somewhere before the sun came up. Dropped off out cargo and headed home and slept.

Tuesday morning (after sunrise): Took down laundry and folded it, watched cartoons, reviewed the Bubble Gum Crisis DVD before sending it back to Netflix.

Tuesday afternoon. Listening to the MP3 player with some randomness on it. Hee hee.. Some of the plot ideas that just wash over ya when you're just relaxing, listening and playing Bejeweled. Must write them down for future reference.

Tuesday evening/night: Mad City Coffee!!

What?? No KISS??

Got the car into the shop this morning.
Got a call from them.
It's going to run me about $1600 to have it fixed. (Considering how long it's been since any major work had to be done to the car, it's not that bad)

The good news is that the car will be happy, I will be happy, I'll be getting cash back from it, and I can afford this repair.

Life is going well.

Marylanders, contact Governor O'Malley!

Ganked from faireraven's journal

From an email from State Sen. Richard Madaleno. FYI SB566 allows domestic partners visitation and input to decision making for hospitalized partners. SB597 allows partners to transfer property without paying recording fees and taxes on the property. Both are privileges built into a marriage recognized by the state.

From Sen. Madaleno:
Yesterday morning was the third of Governor O'Malley's four signing ceremonies for bills that were passed by the General Assembly this session. At a break in the action, the Governor informed me about a torrent of calls and e-mails coming into his office urging him to veto the two bills we passed this session expanding benefits to domestic partners.

Apparently, the Maryland Catholic Conference has been sending out alerts encouraging people to contact the Governor against these bills.

While I am not surprised by this development and am extremely confident that the Governor will sign these two bills next week, I think it is important to let him know that there are also many of his constituents who support protections for same-gender couples. Therefore, I am hoping that you will take a moment out of your day to contact the Governor to express your support for the small but important steps these bills take toward advancing equality.

I also hope that you will encourage him to publicly support the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act when the General Assembly takes the bill up next session.
To send an e-mail, use this web form from the Governor's website:

http://www.gov.state.md.us/mail/

If you would like to call, his number is 1-800-811-8336. The bills are SB566 (Health Care Facility Visitation and Medical Decisions - DomesticPartners) and SB597 (Recordation and Transfer Taxes - Exemptions -Domestic Partners).

(He's gotta be out of his place in NY in June)

Thanks.

All comments will be screened to protect the innocent and their contact information.

Wow, the stuff you find

So we've been going through some of the "stuff" here in the office when we came across a nondescript laptop bag.
We opened the bag to reveal an Apple laptop.
So sitting next to me is a Macintosh Powerbook 165c. Running System 7.5 software.

Just a little aged.
