Time:3:33 pm.

Stop what you are doing.  Stop complaining about the government.  Stop worrying about the economy.

Go here and listen to the Rimes of the Hip Hop Mariners.  Captain Dan is hilarious.  After listening to a couple of the preview tracks you can get mad again.

Time:10:49 am.

I’ve had a pretty weird week…and this week is gearing up to be just as surreal. But, for the sake of unweirdity, I’ll just talk about the weekend.

We didn’t do a lot with the house. Actually, we didn’t do anything with it at all. The only thing we did do was find the perfect sized chest of drawers to use in the bathroom as the vanity. It was a steal at a hundred bucks. We’ll need to do a couple of things to it to make it bathroom sink ready:

1- Rip off the back

2- Horse-shoe cut the top two drawers

3- Cut holes in the top of it for the sink and faucet

4- Polyurethane (or whatever) the surface.

The chest is already white and has character, so we won’t need to do anything cosmetic to it, which is awesome.

We bought it at the Occoquan Arts and Craft show which runs once in the autumn and once in the spring. My Mom and I have been going to both for years. We picked up some Christmas gifts for the kids and some cool bowls for the house. I bought Izzy some Christmas gifts and finished her birthday shopping off. We also got some really cool ideas for the house and picked up some stuff for it (the chest of drawers and these cool rustic metal brackets we’re thinking of hanging in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room).

After the show, Izzy went off for Libra night, and I was a horrible guest and fell asleep while watching Escape from New York. What I was awake for was pretty cool. I did, finally, get to see Big Trouble in Little China, which was awesome and I laughed a lot.

Sunday, we celebrated my Mom’s birthday with pizzas on the grill. They were delicious and everyone had a ton of fun. Izzy finished off the Dick and Jane throw quilt for my mom, which my mom adores. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’ll be getting some matching throw pillows for Christmas. Izzy and I finished the weekend off with the latest episode of True Blood.

Subject:House Update
Time:2:47 pm.
First off, thank you Fred, Tara, and Nicole for giving us a hand with emptying out the storage unit.  I'm unsure how all of that crap fit into our apartment (some was collected after-wards).  Needless to say, there will be a yard sale at some point.  Not to say that I don't pack needless stuff away, but I was certainly glad Izzy saw the amount of things we could get rid of.

So, the den is like 97% done being painted.  The doors and trim and a touch up in three spots is all that is left.  Unfortunately, since the basement is our new storage unit, most of that will have to wait until after we get the room emptied.  I'm a little concerned with the color we chose, but I think once we get furniture in there of the right color, the room will look awesome.  It needs darker colors in it, which is cool because our entertainment center is black...although I'm thinking dark, deep, browns would be perfect.

The next project is the kitchen.  the plan is to paint it and either put in a dishwasher, or put a microwave cart where the dishwasher is supposed to be.  Currently the spot has nothing there...no cupboard and no counter top.  The plan is to just trash the kitchen in a year and remodel it.  So, if we just hand-wash dishes until then, it would save us the trouble of putting in the hookups for one now just to change it up in  year.  I dunno, were still working that one out.

After the kitchen is the bathrooms, then the kids bedrooms, then the livingroom, then our bedroom, and then the sewing room.  At some point, the deck needs to be fixed up a bit, but we'll be applying new deck boards to it in the spring, so we don't want to throw too much money at it now.

But, yeah.  We're pretty excited and happily still fixing it up and painting!  We've got plans to have a house warming/Izzy's birthday party in October...but if we don't get everything we want done, it may not happen.  Our second MUST BE COMPLETE date is Wednesgiving.  Yes, we're volunteering as the location this year.

Subject:Sink-ing and Undies
Time:4:39 pm.
We put in a sink, shower head, and light fixture in the upstairs bathroom of the new place.  To get the sink in, I needed to make a run to Lowes two times more than I had expected to.  The shower head went in great and the sink did, too (aside from the extra plumbing parts needed); however, the light fixture made us realize we're going to have some issues with the upstairs bathroom.

Thing 1- There are no outlets in that bathroom.  I imagine Izzy's Dad can throw one in there when we replace the Federal Pacific breaker box.
Thing 2- Whowever owned the house previously did a shitty job doing a huge drywall patch in there.  It isn't going to be anything huge, just a general inconvenience and another thing to add to the list.

We also looked at the breaker box and installed covers on the electrical sockets that were missing them.  By the time finished everything and cleaned up, we got out of there a little after midnight.

A note of cool about the house...well, the shed.  I'm not great at it, but I can, pick a lock with a 50% success rating.  Some of the hardest locks to pick are either expensive or old and cranky.  Well, the lock on the shed *is* an expensive lock.  I got at least 4 pins to stick every time I went at it, but I couldn't get the first three to.  Even with a pick, I wasn't able to get them to catch.  Also, metal door jams were put up to prevent carding...so, I wasn't able to access the shed...again.  Although...Izzy and I discovered that there is a small solar power array on the roof of the shed...which just piques my curiosity even more!  The first thing I'm doing once we get the keys to the place (provided we don't get a key to the shed) is heading to the shed and drilling out the lock.  I'm so hoping there is a hatch to a bomb shelter in there.  I mean, there's got to be SOMETHING cool in there.  If not, that's fine...but seriously, I can't illustrate how excited I am about cracking open that door.

Onto underwear.  I'm currently wearing a pair of boxers that either the Eater Bunny gave me or Santa...I don't remember, and its only important to the story because it shows that I did not purchase them for myself.  The artwork on them has always reminded me of an MS-13 tattoo...they've got this big cobra on the left leg and a giant red heart. and, well, yeah, they look kinda weird to me because of it.  Anyway, I noticed the "brand" on the tag today.  It said "Miami Ink".

I had no idea I was wearing TV show boxers.

Subject:Bachelor Party, Sinks, and Sarah Palin
Time:1:06 pm.
The Bachelor Party I threw for my brother went well.  We had a blast at Dave & Busters (I won 1700 tickets in the span of 7 minutes) and returned home around midnight where we tapped a keg of Sam Adams Boston Lager.  I guess, cost-wise, it probably would have been just as effective to buy a couple of 24 packs, but the bonding experience of sitting around a keg, pouring beers for eachother was amazing.  We finished it between 3 and 4...I think and then watched a ridiculous porn flick* that involved masks with appendages hanging off of them.  We laughed and made comments...and then just left it playing in the background as we hammered some shots and finished a game of beer pong.  I finally passed out in a hammock in the back yard between 6 and 7.  I woke up around 11:30, killed a wasp nest, took a shower, drank half-a-gallon of orange juice, and ate some egg and toast.  The rest of the day was cleaning and napping.

Our house is missing a sink, and in order to get the loan approved, we need to put in a sink before closing.  We bought a sink on Friday and found a pretty cool faucet to go with it.  We haven't settled on a color for the fixture, but we love that faucet.  Anyway, I was checking the faucet out on the internet and so Izzy and I decided to go to Lowes and get everything we needed to put the sink in.  Well, once we got to Lowes, we quickly realised that the price of the faucet we wanted was about twice as much there.  We came to the conclusion that if we wanted to put the bathroom together at a decent price, we'd need to buy everything online...which means we probably won't have everything until after the closing date...so, after another hardware store stop and a hundred dollars later, we ended up purchasing the cheapest faucet and pedestal sink we could find, so we can toss it out when we put what we want in.  Bah!

Now, I don't like to hate on Sarah Palin, but I thought this article was hilarious:  8 Reasons Sarah Palin is more Qulified than Barack Obama

* I've been in porn shops three or four times before to look around with friends and laugh at the stuff.  I have purchased some novelty stuff from them before...maybe even a toy that was ridiculously thick and long and purple that I held like a spear out of the sunroof of my car on the way home, but I've never purchased porn at a porn shop.  For me, living in the digital age, porn has been blissfully free.  Most parties devolve into blatantly gross and weird searches of places like efukt and pornotube, but this place, this mecca of raw and strange sexual paraphenalia and devices, had porno flicks listed for an average of 30 bucks!  It was a shock to both my brother and I.  The weirdest/coolest thing they had there was a Blu-Ray porn section with a spoof of the Pirates of the Carribean movies that boasted that it was the most expensive porno ever made.  It was called Pirates and had a price tag of 70 bucks.  We ended up going the safe route with a 25 dollar one that looked weird and had a number after the title.

Subject:Dorkness Rising
Time:1:38 pm.
Mood: I Seduce The Priestess!.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it.  There was a lot of camp in the film, but Izzy and I did laugh a lot.  The story within a story was good, although I wanted some more closure between several of the relationships outside of the game.  In the end, it was a lot of fun to finally see it and gamer stereotypes played out on the screen; I'll be watching it again.  I can definitely look at my gaming group and draw parallels to the one in the movie.

Subject:Aeris Faerie Pictures
Time:10:51 am.

As promised, here are some of the Aeris Faerie pictures.  Both Aeris and David were roughly the same age (within a month) at the time these were taken, David is just heavier than Aeris was at that age.

Click the picture to go to the album.  There are cuter pictures of Aeris, but I don't seem to have them on this computer.  I'll add them later, after I get to a compy that has the rest of them.  As an aside, I won an amateur photo contest with this picture.  I'm certain it had less to do with my skill and more to do with my beautiful subject.

Subject:David Pictures
Time:4:56 pm.
Around this same time when Aeris was about this same age, we dressed her in a faerie costume and took pictures of her in my parent's backyard.  We did the same with David recently and so I thought I'd post an album of them.

Here's your cute and tasty preview.  Click the picture to go to the album.

On a strange note, I was unable to find where I posted Aeris' Faerie pictures, so expect to see an album of those posting here soon-ish (today, tomorrow, sometime...)

Subject:Unexpected Abode
Time:1:06 am.

Yup, it kind of just fell into our laps Wednesday night, so we wrote a contract and it got accepted yesterday evening.

Yup, WE FINALLY GOT A HOUSE!!!!!!!  We didn't bring the camera and so there are no pics of the inside or backyard, but here it is from the front.

The picture is from the listing page online, so it isn't the best quality, but it has 4 bedrooms, a HUGE utility room, a den, a living room, 2 full baths, a kitchen, a dining room, some closets, a deck, an expansive back yard, and a little cottage-esque shed in the very back end of the yard in a little copse of trees.
The house is in Woodbridge in a well-kept neighborhood in the "K" streets off of Dale.  I like everything about it except for the front door (which Izzy loves), 'cause a door with a big window in the middle of it isn't a door; it's another window that is human-sized.

But, yeah.  WOOHOO!

Subject:Cool *FREE* Online Game
Time:4:27 pm.

I found this sweet online game called Star Pirates.  It has been a lot of fun and an easy way to blow some downtime.  The best part is that I can leave the game and still collect XP and money without being logged in.  Give it a go:

Subject:Last Night
Time:4:03 pm.

Against my better judgement, and tossing all rationality aside, I stayed up to almost 4am playing Airsoft with my brother and his friend.  I'm not tired, infact, I feel rather abundant with energy.

Anyway, two things of note about last evening:
1- Jon looks effing scary at night.
2- We encountered 3 stoners out for a stroll at about 3 AM.  They proceeded to: a. act paranoid, b. comment on how totally cool our guns were, and c. ask me what school I go to.  I haven't gone to school in several years, so it was pretty amusing to me.

Going to go see Hell Boy 2 with the wifey tonight, so that should fun.

On another note, Mojitos are deceptively good.  Especially when you skip out on the sugar and seltzer and use your favorite lemon-lime carbonated beverage instead!

Subject:Weekend in Review
Time:11:13 am.
I had a pretty good weekend:

I got to play with my new toy and found an airsoft store in Manassas
I got to hang out with Mikey
I got exclusive time with the kiddos
I got to go to Alexandria
I got to drink with some friends and watch Ong-bak (which there is an Ong-bak 2 in the works)
I got to play Call of Cthulhu in Taran, Iran and die punching out fire vampires
I learned of this strange and old lady sex doctor who worries about anal sex

The most memorable bad thing that happened was that while having an awesome shootout with my brother and his friend, my airsoft gun went dry and I was forced to flee. Fearing a rain of pellets from my pursuers, I decided to forgo the last 5 steps down an incline and jumped for it, thinking I’d ball into a shoulder roll and keep all of my momentum. Unfortunately, I miscalculated the length I would be able to jump and me knee landed on the edge of a concrete slab at the start of the somersault. I finished the roll and limp-jogged behind a neighbors house where I laid down and reloaded my magazine for some payback. Aside from the pain I’m in now, it was pretty cool.

Izzy and the kids are off at VBS this week and Aeris, not used to getting up at 7:00 in the morning, was incredibly cranky. I think it’s a combination of her just not feeling well and being a Pisces who needs her sleep.

Subject:Oh Shit, Phr3d Was Right!
Time:6:13 pm.

Emeril Legasse is a zombie...and so is most of the production crew, body guards, and personal assistants.  Also, my office building is full of them.  I tried going down the stairs, but they were jam-packed full.  I dread trying the elevator.

The ground below seems pretty clear of them and my car's not too far.  I'm going to pack up and smash the window and do the elevator trick on one of the trees.  I've done it before, when I was a kid, so here's hoping it works this time.  I've got a 2 and a half section of pipe I'm going to use to try and brain them if it comes to that.

Also, be on the lookout for safehouses full of strange: http://beguine.livejournal.com/.  I'm all for finding a safe spot to hole up with friends, but I'm not about to become livestock.

Phr3d, you seem to know what's going on, I'm packing up the family and heading to your place once I get home.  I know you've got some kind of plan!
