Subject: Beloved,Reply.

Beloved,i am Mrs Rebecca Thatcher, suffering from cancerous ailment. I was
married to Sir Jeremy Thatcher an English shipping tycoon notable for his
great charitable activities before his death in April 2nd, 2006..

When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of Twenty Million
Pounds Sterling (20,000,000.00 GBP) which were derived from his vast
estates and investment in capital market with his bank here in UK and
named me as the beneficiary of this trust fund.(All records are kept with
my family lawyer).Presently, this money is still with the Bank.

...blah, blah, blabity, blah, blah....credit card number...blah, blah, blah.

anyways, i was curious as to who her famous husband, jeremy thatcher was, so i did a google image search to see if there was one.

and there is! look, here he is as a young boy.

this is this weeks radio show:

http://www.cjsf.ca/vanilla_archives/2008_July_18_18_00.mp3
http://www.cjsf.ca/vanilla_archives/2008_July_18_18_30.mp3

http://www.cjsf.ca/vanilla_archives/2008_July_18_19_30.mp3

it's nowhere near as dirge-y or doom-y as last weeks show.

in the second hour there is a richard harris song (you know, the actor who had a hit w/macarthur park (it took so long to bake it aaaaaand i'll never have that recipe aaaaaaaagainn! aaaaaaaaaagain!) which is a jimmy webb song).

it's a song called the yard went on forever... from an album w/the same title. it was the follow up to a tramp shining which is the record w/his big hit on it (i like didn't we quite a bit too.).

any how, both records are basically jimmy webb records. i've always really liked jimmy webb's songs ever since figuring out he was the reason i liked glen campbell so much. i've got his first solo record words and music which came out in 1970. the 'a' side is amazing, especially the first two tracks and the 'b', an unlistenable, dull day.

anyways, the song in this weeks show is awful, which was always the chance you took w/a jimmy webb song. the production is crazily over the top, the background singers are way way too peppy and richard harris seems confused.

for all that it's totally worth hearing.

Jul. 13th, 2008 | 11:40 pm

i just started into watching the second half of the second season of my new favorite tv show, the bbc's life on mars.

it starts off w/hallucinations and a soundtrack by everyones favorite 70s space rock outfit hawkwind. i can't place the song, but it's as obvious as the roaming boils on lemmy's face that that's who it is. if you're keeping score i beleive this would be the third time their music has been used.

Photobucket
Photobucket

i think these have been my favorite images from a show full of favorite images.

Photobucket

i'll be sad when i'm done watching these last four episodes.

did anyone catch the leaked fist episode of the n.american version of the show? does anyone know if it's going to be a straight copy or are they going to pull some kind of bullshit move and wreck it like stephen king did when he decided to adapt the incredible kingdom and made the horrific kingdom hospital mini-series out of it.

Jul. 12th, 2008 | 09:30 pm

i finally finished receiving
Photobucket
and watched it.

did i like it?

i barely, at just the basest level, understood what was going on. your damn right i liked it. for me this movie is like an onion revealing itself as it's skins are peeled away.

*30*

earlier this week i watched
Photobucket

about a woman whose brother is killed by yakuza. when she goes to avenge him she loses an arm

Photobucket
and has it replaced w/this vengeance stick.

*30*

and then even earlier this week i watched inglorious bastards. a 1978 itallian knock off of the dirty dozen staring, among others, fred williamson and bo svenson.

it's good stupid warsploitation. if the name rings a bell it's probably because of this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361748/

for me it was made all the more satisfying to watch because of this sequence:
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
women w/high power machine pistols.

sigh.

i ate some dark chocolate around ten. is that the reason?

if i can't sleep, i'm going to finish watching the first season of life on mars.
