this is when (& why) "slowcore" and custom-made, custom-tuned 4-string Jaguar shaped guitars were an awesome idea.

Another f'ing blog!
I finally started an autobiographical music blog for myself.
http://iancstewartarchive.blogspot.com
Blogspot's free photo storage combined with Esnips's free MP3 storage makes it all possible. It's like the early days of live365 again. I've been uploading archival recordings and random old photos from my life and offering the usual 200ish words to provide some context, sort of.
Today, a funky dirge with chirpy keyboards from January 1992 + a photo of me that ran in the XTC fan club magazine.

Devilcake at Apollo's 1992
Jun. 7th, 2007 | 08:49 am
music: Talk Talk - It's You live 1986
A messily-edited bootleg video of Devilcake is now on Youtube.... capturing the 13-person collective in one of its earliest concoctions. I'm on drums....
Here's "Pie Hair Pie" and "I Want a Big Mac" kind of chopped together.
check out all six songs if you dare:

& no, I wasn't naked. Close, but not quite.

Jesus H. Jones
May. 15th, 2007 | 09:00 am
I finally ran out of KISS-related magazines to scan. Now I'm down to the Keyboard Magazine issue from 1991 with the keyboard guy from Jesus Jones on the cover. I was never that big of a fan of ole JJ, but the interview is pretty funny. In a bad way. The outraged tone of the interviewer is quite remarkable, considering the lasting impact (ha) of Jesus Jones on the world of music as we know it to this very day.
Anyway, the only downside is that the article is about 400 pages long. Or something like that & it's taking forever to scan. And I'm not really that big of a fan. And I think some of the pages will be unreadable due to the text going into the very deep spine.

Nice, an old-school flurry of activity. I hope I can ride this wave all the way to the beach.
Two key components of my personality - enthusiasm and organization - have apparently tended to waver in the recent past. It used to be a constant thing with me, that's what people knew me for, if anything. So, when I'm now left with one, the other, or neither, the world is not right. I am not awesome!
But yeah. This week I've been on fire & it's been great. I mean, it's also been horrible, I'm still extremely depressed in general. I started wondering if I shouldn't see a therapist. But then I thought that it might be better to attempt to repair some bridges to my existing fiends. Such as y'all. So I've pretty much emailed everyone I know in the past few days & it's been great. So many people that I haven't had contact with in a long time, for whatever reason.
I do miss being this energetic. It just feels right to be multitasking on three PCs at the same time. And at this rate I might even finish some of the stuff I'm working on.
So, thanks for being my peeps. And hopefully if I can keep from burning bridges with you all, I can lean on you again when I need to.

SING, TALVIN!
Apr. 30th, 2007 | 07:02 pm
music: Murcof with Talvin Singh live DVD
Two minutes of typing:
I'm feeling mighty whipped lately. Thus, trying to reach out a bit. Here, now.
Except, piss, I made everyone go away a long time ago. Now what?
I need good friends who can listen and talk and advise. But I've already alienated everyone I do know through various unspeakable, no I mean unsurprising means.
Time's up. Too much pausing to think.
