06:10 pm Don't really understand what geniuses think - met a senior of mine, who's come back from singapore and going to start work on Monday. I just went over to say hi to him, and after (negatively) commenting about
1) Me always being in school 2) My sense of accessories 3) Inappropriate dressing to the weather (okay it wasn't so hot today - but it was scorhing a few days ago, and in the computer room it can get quite stuffy) 4) my innecessity to study cos I can almost fail and still pass in total 5) having no life
and not forgetting to mention that he scored much higher than me at the same stage -- I mean, what am I supposed to do???? I'm just not a cao mugger who mugs throughout my 5 years. Now when it comes to the crunch I mug like hell for 4 months, what's wrong?????? Not everyone can score above 80% ...... growlz.......
Anyway started watching what lizzie recommended - Kurosagi. damn nice!!!

04:26 pm Just to say hi to Christina who visited my blog. >w< Haven't talked to you in ages!!!!
An update on myself....... No matter how much I mug for my finals, I find it hard dto incorporate all the information. Maybe I haven't have enough clinical experience to tie the facts together? Or have I just not mugged hard enough? It's like one thing in one thing out -- but I've already been spending every waking hour doing clinical stuff / in the library. I only go home to sleep nowadays.
So a typical day would be: Wake -> Ward / Surgery -> Lunch -> More useless plastic surgery -> Library -> dinner - > library -> Gym
Yesterday I just managed to scrape past 6km in about 40 minutes. yeah I know that's not fast... but I can't go fast when I'm runing far.... Hmm think my feel good factor is definitely working out my hamstrings.... shit need to know what muscles make them up... or do I?
Otherwise I'm fit and well... going to move house in about 2 weeks time... getting stressed by small little things. And arranging my elective - plans to travel to australia and PPNG. Dunno how that'll go. Seeing agents this weekend.
Congratulations to lal my friends who started work and have graduated.

11:27 pm - world cup Ghana put up a good fight against Brazil!!! Even tho in face of 5 time world champions, they tried the goal 7 times just in the first half!! I'm impressed!!!! On the other hand I dunno what Brazil is doing.... seems like such a half hearted game. Not that I know much about football anyway.....d
Was chatting to some friends over dinner. He said he saw an operation where a slightly plump female had a ring put in her stomach (okay some bright spark can tell me what op it's called) to control her appetite -- but apparently if you stop eating, fats will go and the first place that it'll go it's your boobs. Whereas the places you really want them to go, like your thighs, are lax muscles so will remain lax no matter how much u diet. It's true mine shrinks the more I lose weight.... :( So ladies! Train up those triceps n hamstrings that we hardly use!!
having trouble sleeping lately.... seem to toss n turn and wake up unrefreshed. And no... I'm not depressed...

12:46 am Do I have hayfever? These few days there is this irritating itch at the back of my throat. sometimes the ears too. And I kept sneezing this morning. The differential diagnosis, of course, is cos my friend's down from Kent, and the whole night beside me she was snorting her nose in a funny way..... Maybe she passed something onto me and my immune system cannot fight the virus.
People have been nasty to me.... I'm not a very good badminton player.... probably my attitude has a bit of ap roblem too. But you don't need to whisper "stop complaining" behind me... I don't mean to play so badly. I just haven't been playing cos I have so much work -- you guys have like 2 years worth of work for your synoptic exam -- I have about twice the volume you guys have. I'm not a all rounded student... if I concentrate and focus on something else I tend to neglect other things like sports. So I keep my stamina up by gym-ing. It gives me the most amount of exercise in the shortest possible amount of time...
If I'm a lousy player or my attitude wasn't right today, just tell me afterwards. No need to make a senior old woman like me feel unwelcome. I'll just shut up and play next time. (if there is a next time) I think people all need to be more tolerant. I'm trying to change to be nicer. Fine, if that's how it is. I will shut up forever when i turn up for badminton.
My 5 click seems to be the only thing now that stabilises me.... It's quite annoying I'm at a psychological 5 click barrier..... Hopefully after a while I might make it to 6 click....

11:47 pm Quite tired.... been maximising my time this 3 days, cos I wasted the whole of last week going out + playing Final Fantasy. After coming back from Kingston Hospital... some days just went straight to library..... And yesterday had to take time out for some coffee with some random friends....
Found a surprising fact: I was chatting to a friend of mine... and she was just complimenting that I run pretty okay on the treadmill. I told her there is no way I run as much as her, she ran 5km straight. Then she said, "Oh, don't you know, the machine is in miles?" 1mile = 1.5 km roughly.
I was running about 4.5km 3-4 times a week each day!! It's just numbers, but made me feel so good.... Of course running on the treadmill is different from running on the track / road... but nevertheless boosts my sense of achievement.... Hmmm... maybe try to boost to 3.5-4 miles next time...

People think being a doctor is about knowledge, glam and money. Utter f*cking bullshit. Those people in the know will realise that those are all bullshit, for other people to look at.
Some think being in a relationship is the answer to their loneliness, is the answer to life, is the end of all means. Get a grip -- we are born to this world alone, and no matter what happens we will leave this world to face the other alone. Utterly alone.
Don't be so upset about things, let it go... don't understand why my friends get so uptight about things.

11:52 pm - bleep-------- brain dead My brain was so dead this morning - but i forced it to mug some more in the afternoon. Then by 6pm I really really really am doing no work at all - rolling on my bed pretending to study. Then I thought "Screw it - let's go to the gym". And again, only by this simple action of attending the session, is my brain able to function again. I don't think it's an addiction - some ppl watch tv, some ppl sleep or listen to music--- I find going to the gym a big stress buster. Not only does it keep me in shape (well kinda), it clears my mucked brain up. Todae's session is 3.5km..... took a lot longer than usual - my aim is "take as long as you want, as many breaks as u want, but reach tha 3.5km". Hopefully next time will get better timings. 6 more days to go. Can't finish cardio, GP, geriatrics. Still so much i DUNNO.
10 things i can't live without:
1) Parents (wat? 2 things? ah, watever) 2) Gym 3) Internet 4) Jap anime/manga 5) Ipod 6) Coffee (which i drink w/o sugar now. healthier) 7) fruits and veg 8) friends 9) Bicycle (maybe replaced by car in the future) 10) skin care

09:56 pm - Rules about cycling on the road 1. Hypnotherapy. "I'm a vehicle... I'm a vehicle...." 2. Always signal, even if there are no vehicles nearby. (Nearly got knocked into another cyclist cos i didn't signal) 3. You're not slowing the world down. 4. Wear reflective stuff - belts, trousers clips, anything fluorescent. Drivers have no eyes 5. Drivers are idiots 6. Cyclists rule! I'm the king of the road! (no one dares to knock you down) 7. Never change gears suddenly when going up a very steep hill. If you have to, push. 8. Always wear a helmet. 9. Do not try to weave in and out of traffic too much. 10. When behind a big big truck, stay behind it. 11. When the bus signals to take off, do NOT try to overtake it. 12. Always acknowledge drivers who give way to bloody cyclists. 13. Try not to sing on the road. 14. Do not listen to MP3 15. Do not answer the phone 16. Wear a helmet. 17. ALWAYS LOCK YOUR BIKE 18. Wear a helmet. 19. When carrying groceries on the backpack, cycling rate slows down by half. 20. I'm the king of the road. 21. Wear trousers clips. Might get caught in the gear. 22. When going downhill, switch to higher gear. 23. When going uphill, it's ok to be lazy and use a low gear. 24. Never slow over road humps - they slow me down. :P 25. ALWAYS give way at the give way line 26. Follow traffic rules - but it's okay to speed the red light at zebra crossings. Why the hell would you stop!? 27. NEver stop for little old ladies - they are very, very slow. You can probably overtake them before they start crossing the road. 28. Have lights fitted if possible. 29. Don't break when going downhill - it's fun. 30. It's hard going uphill, but remember, what goes up must come down. See point 29. 31. Don't be distracted by cute guys on the road. Most cyclists are quite fit. 32. IT's ok to be a slow coach. You're the king of the road. 33. Wear a helmet.

10:21 pm Hmmm been leading what is to myself a somewhat disciplined life -- save yesterday when i had a huge chocolate swiss roll. Felt sick the whole day... And one more advice to my friends... don't ever try the gym with a full stomach -- kept burping and can't speed up. :(
Looking back my lifestyle's quite different from half a year ago... when i used to just sit in front of tv/computer and vegetate... play bit of badminton which is no sweat exercise when u can't play properly... took up exercise after my mom who wakes up religiously at 5am everyday to run and gym.... but I'm not so much a runner anyway. I take my own sweet time for my half hour slot. TO be honest I enjoy weights more than running. Toned muscles make you feel fantastic even when u're sitting down i think... My fav machines? Triceps and hamstrings machine... my theory is that these muscles aren't used by me normally anyway -- it hurts to work them to a point, and after stretching and some rest, you can actually tighten and feel the muscles there! Not floppy anymore! But slightly worrying cos I don't want my things to be bigger than it is already... but I like working it. So even if it's gonna hypertrophy, so be it -- the feel good factor is more impt. :P
What others do I do... oh recently I tried the pectoris machine, where u sit back and push the handbars forward - the first time I tried hurt my pects like hell... but actually feels quite gd!
So my normal 1.5 hr regime... consist of me cycling down to school/gym... 30 min treadmill jog (currently only at 3km bah....i like taking my time.....5 min warm up cool down siah..) 2x20 thigh abductors 3x20 thigh adductors (cos in sports med i learned that runners can get patello femoral syndrome where the knee cap is pulled to one side by stronger abductor muscles... so i just add one more set...) 2x20 pectoral muscles 1x20 biceps (dun like the bicep machines - prefer free weights which i always forget to do...) 3x20 triceps press 3x20 hamstrings variable number of sit ups...
I think that's it.... Try to go on alternate days.. if i have badminton I do a lighter regime....
I've been cycling to my GP for the past 4 wks.... from south london almost to north london.... challenging big trucks! Ahhhh so scary sometimes when I try to squeeze past cars and trucks, or when big trucks brush by me, I almost feel death waving at me.. but miraculously I'm always fine --- the only time i injured myself was when i was cycling on a lane with almost no cars, when i lost balance and stubbed my toe against a gate (swear words came out ....) Used ot take me 45 min to cycle there, yesterday with little traffic i reached there in 20min. Cycling is really a great way to cycle, free.... and healthy. but i hate breathing in the smoke and exhaust... but i hate more to get on the bus during rush hour. I think Singapore should have a cycling culture as well... but probably I'll get honked at and looked at ridiculously if I decide to cycle back home.........
Library everyday... but it's more fun cos my best (only) friends are there as well.... but sometimes I miss home.... when people talk about meeting "old school friends", I hardly have any here.... miss my old friends.... who've seen me come through the years....... not the new packaged one... anyway... will start pasting my chinese fantasy novels soon haha... muahahaha my own blog I'll do whatever i like....
