in the still of the night...
My head hurts...this is from being in front of the computer all day - not for entertainment purposes though! Haha, let me explain. I started a temping job last week, it's general office admin..should last 6-8 weeks which suits me fine. I couldn't do any more than that! Anyway, involves much putting-of-information-onto-spreadsheets which is tedious to say the least, hence the headache. Although I've now been online at home for well over an hour so I have only myself to blame for its continuation...

Ah well, anyway...just about made a desicion on postgrads...shall hopefully be going to Edinburgh but there seems to be some kind of problem in that I've got an offer but not the official offer letter, tis annoying :p

Also I have my first driving lesson tomorrow - I'mever so slightly nervous...not sure if I should be let out on the roads, but we'll see how it goes!

Better late than never...
Due to me being on holiday in Northumberland for the last week there will be some delayed reactions here...lol. The first two days of the hol were rather distressing because on Saturday there was the Doctor Who finale - what the hell?! The ending enraged me so much! cont... )

Then the next day it was the men's Wimbledon final - we all (me, my mum, dad, sister, aunt, and little cousin) really wanted Federer to win so it was quite an emotional rollercoaster. We'd almost given up during the third set so it was amazing when he came back to win it and the fourth! I guess it was pretty close which made it worse when he didn't win..a very tense 7 hours it was I tell you, what with rain delays and tie breaks and lots of shots hit into the net! In the end Nadal was just too good. Roger looked so sad at the end, like he was about to cry :( (And I wanted to!) Of course he was gracious and gentleman-like as ever though :p And it's definetely one of the best matches of tennis I've ever seen!

Anyway, the rest of the holiday was fine, involving long walks and trying to keep warm on the beach...was so cold for summer!

In other news, I got offers for both the postgrads I applied for, so yay for that! Decision time :p

the times they are a changin'
Had an interview today and I'm now registered with a temping agency! It pays pretty well which is good seeing as I currently have less than a tenner in the bank...sad times indeed. Anyway, have to go through a disclosure thing so in a couple of weeks I should get an assignment :)

I've also applied for a couple of postgrads that start in September...Music management and promotion at Northumbria University, and Festival and events management at Napier in Edinburgh...so I shall see how that goes. I'm not sure how much of a chance there is of getting in to them at this stage, but its worth a try!

Watched the rest of Casanova and it was just as good as the first part...really sad at the end though, brings a tear to the eye :P Definetly recommend it if you haven't seen it - youtube it! Can't believe Doctor Who is nearly finished..I'll miss the Tennant's wide array of facial expressions and general brilliance :P

Oh, also saw Sex and the City...never seen huge amounts of the series but I thought the film was pretty good...extremely girly lol. I really want to see The Edge of Love and Priceless too!

Hehe, Wimbledon begins next week...this means a whole two weeks of sexy men running around playing tennis..and with that thought I'll leave you! :D

Meanwhile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slvwk-nNAQs 0:42-0:44 is especially yay lol :D

When I hear those drums late at night...
Recent developments:

I have a degree! Wasn't quite the result I was hoping for so I was a bit disappointed but at the end of the day it's still a good (honours) degree so I should be happy :) Really looking forward to graduation now, getting the robes and everything yay!

Also, the grad ball = all levels of awesomeness, proved by the two-day hangover and many pics of the night...

BBC iplayer is brilliant...just caught up with last nights Doctor Who and ooh was it good...the library episodes have been amaaaaazing :D

In other, completely unrelated and somewhat trivial news, I have found the best eyeliner (GOSH) which stays on so well that even make up wipes find it a challenge to remove it :p just thought I'd add that in lol.

bits n bobs...
Why is it that these graduate fairs only have stalls on the kind of jobs I'd never be interested in - finance, banks, accountancy (yes, very similar), IT, random corporate businesses..um, the army? Haha can't see myself doing any of that somehow! I still don't want to appy for any 'proper' jobs right now but I may sign up to a temping agency soon for I am need of the money...alas my wee skivey job at the theatre doesn't really provide enough of that AND they screwed up my June rota so I have a grand total of 2 shifts, and there's no shows on in July anyway...

Anyway (too much use of this word?!)...grad ball on Sunday, yay...I have a lovely dress and insanely high but gorgeous heels for it :) Time seems to have flown since finals - they actually seem like a hazy, distant memory right now, which is probably for the best!

Oh yes, Eurovision...haha, predictable as ever, some amusing entries, some truly awful ones, and of course Terry's little quips, although the poor man seemed a bit dissillusioned and rightly so, the voting really is getting beyond a joke! And UK, last again hahaha oh dear. I heard that Morrisey threatened to try and represent us this year, but I don't think even he could get us more than a few points...

Been re-watching Green Wing again recently...ah, so many classic moments, especially Alan:

"I don't want any manipual manualtion.."
"Manual manipulation..?"
"No thank you!"

"Are fish a complete turn off?"
"What species?"

Ha! :)

Where did all the money go?!
Just enrolled for graduation today, which cost £52...just to graduate! And that's not including gown hire and photographs, argh lol. I've been there for four years, I deserve to graduate without bankrupting myself! :p

On a slightly related note, the grad ball is coming up and I still have no dress... I've seen some potentials online and I should probably decide soon so I have time to change my mind if I don't like it!

Yay for all this warm sunshine we're getting...I really hope it lasts! It's also making me really want to go on holiday somewhere with a beach and/or a festival :p

Strange yet pleasing...
It has been a long sojourn from livejournal for me...the reason being final exams...which are now over! The last few weeks have been almost surreal; I was suddenly plunged into spending all my days studying in the library then suddenly the exams began and now suddenly they're over - last one was yesterday. I had five, two weren't great, the other three were alright-ish...I can't belive uni is actually over for good - bar graduation (and grad ball) - it's scary! Assuming I do graduate of course haha...really hope I've done enough to get a 2:1 but who knows! At least I can finally relax :) I'm free...FREE! Celebratory night out at the weekend methinks!

Pretty much the only other thing I did during finals was watch TV and luckily there's been a lot of good stuff on...
Firstly Doctor Who...I have to say I quite like Catherine Tate as the new assistant, though I do keep expecting her to burst into "Am I bothered?" or one of her other chracters! How actually cute were the adipose?? So adorable! The Pompeii (is that how you spell it?) episode was good too, how weird if that was how it had happened! And what was last week? Oh yeah, the Oods! Haha.
I totally LOVE Dirty Sexy Money! It's so trashy yet so good!!
The same goes for Desperate Housewives...it's funny how all these programmes come along at once!

I may possibly be going to Paris in a couple of weeks...I hope so for it's so pretty and I haven't been before :)

In other news, the new series of Doctor Who starts on Saturday, yay :p

celebrate the irony?
Taking a well earned break from my essay...got exactly 1000 words done today! It can be confusing at times...it's on postmodern films, so Im attempting to use Donnie Darko, Pulp Fiction (even though I haven't actually seen it!) amd a couple of David Lynch films as examples of 'postmodern irony'. Oh yes indeed...ironic. I've now read so much about it that when I'm watching TV I'm like "ooh, that's a rather postmodern style going on there..." etc..haha!

I love the new creme egg adverts like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYGdyb_aENM (though that isn't the funniest!) Tis like the bunny suicides. Except with chocolate eggs.

Ooh, Dirty Sexy Money starts tonight...I like the look of it!

it's not over...yet
This is going to be such a mad week! I have to:

-Hand in my dissertation - got it bound today and it scary how it's all finished! This is the last week of uni ever, only have one class though
-Finish an english essay and also hand that in
-Get together all my highest marked english essays and hand them in for some random bundle thing
-Work three shifts at work, 2 starting earlier than usual
-Go to three big nights out (ok, so this one is hardly a burden!) 2 birthdays and a leaving night...I deserve it though because after this week I shall practicallly be a recluse for a month studying for finals! (was also out twice this weekend and seem to have caught a cold as a result. Grr)

Yesss...so I shall be a busy little bee indeed. Probably shouldn't be on here right now, haha!

and the drums...
I suppose its about time for a proper entry but I can never really be bothered writing that much so we'll see how it goes! Hmm, what's going on with me? Well, rather scarily I've only got about two weeks of classes left at uni...EVER. Quite a thought. My dissertation is now in its final stages, I've got a couple of essays still left, and then it'll be time for - gasp - finals! And then...graduation! And then I'll be out in the real world so its probably best not to look any further ahead than that apart to mention that hopefully I'll get some holidays in before looking for one of those things called a job :p (Note- have to visit careers advisor soon, eek)

So recently I have been doing a lot of uni work whilst still finding time for the obligatory nights out etc of course...ah, good times :) It saddens me that in a few months my student card will be invalid so I'll have to hope the bouncers won't notice that important detail so I don't need to pay full price. Although I have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with bouncers these days...in some places they seem to recognise so let me in without IDing - "I've seen your card about a million times!" (not sure what that says about me) whilst in others..oh, the rage of being told "Not tonight girls.."

Haha anyway, what else...music! Haven't been to a gig in ages, not since Klaxons in November. Sad times! After exams I think some should be pencilled in. I'd quite like to go to another festival actually, hmm...Ooh, I love that 'Great DJ' song by the Ting Tings, tis uber catchy! Also loving some other random songs...'Just for tonight' by One Night Only, and We Are Scientists' new one as well :)

However, there's nothing good on TV these days, what's going on?! Lots of films I want to see though, there often is yet I usually end up not seeing lots of them, such is life :p

Haha, actaully managed quite a long post here, perhaps due to the very strong 85p coffee I've just consumed, and now its nearly time for my creative writing class with the cute tutor, woo ;)

Have a little priest...
So, I saw Sweeney Todd on Thursday (the day it came out in fact!) and I thought it was actually amazing! Anything involving Depp/Burton in my eyes has got to be good :) Anyway, I loved it, Johnny Depp was brilliant and definetly deserves to win that best actor oscar! Helena Bonham Carter was also great :) Haha, what a film!

I may be going on a climbing wall this week...shall be a bit different!

That's all for now, quick post :p

we are ready for the floor
Well it's been a while since I updated and therefore there are a number of things to report! Firstly, I've now turned 22...it was my birthday a couple of weeks ago and I had a rather brilliant night out :) Can't believe I'm so old though!

I think I've now decided not to do a postgraduate course after all, namely because I don't really know what to do it in. I suppose I could still do one in the future if it was necessary though. Instead, I think what I'll do is try and apply for some graduate schemes somewhere, possibly in the media or publishing industries...although I don't know when to start applying for when they would start...argh! I still want to have the summer off but my mum is saying I shouldn't leave it too late...god, all these decisions!

In other news, I'm going to a creative writing course next month...just informal, once a week, so that should be interesting. However there is now only 7 weeks til the dissertation is due...but saying that, I don't think I'm going too badly with it (I hope!)

Ooh, Sweeney Todd is out soon, yay! Also, Atonement has been nominated for about 14 Baftas, how good? James McAvoy...sigh. I can't wait til it comes out on DVD. I read the book over new year though, it was amazing!

Hmm, what else...not long til Neighbours moves to Five...don't know how much will change, we shall have to see!

a new year...
So, all the festivities are over...Christmas was fun and for New Year we went to St Andrews. Me and my cousin went out on hogmanay to this bar which was appparently frequented by Prince William when he was at uni there...I can imagine it because we were befriend by some rather toff-like guys and their posh female friend..haha!

I got an ipod shuffle for Christmas which was great to begin with...until I tried to use it. I manage to set up itunes and download music fine, but then when I connected the ipod the computer just wouldn't recognise it, causing me much rage! When i came back from holiday, I tried it again and this time I managed to register it on itunes and the computer recognised it and told me that it had synced the music...but when I switched it on there was nothing on the damn thing! It's so annyoying!!

In other news...I suppose it's decision time quite soon, which isn't the best seeing as I'm so indecisive, especially about The Future. I keep changing my mind about whether I want to do a postgrad at all, and if I do, what to do it in, or where, or whether I should wait until next year. It's all so confusing. If I want to apply for one starting this year, I basically need to do it now for any chance of getting funding...ah, the distress.

Anyway, the new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility is starting tonight yay! Although for some reason we're getting it 3 days after it started in England. Ah well, at least it is here!

festive times...
Oliver Twist is so good! Mainly because JRT is rather sexy (albeit evil) in it! Although the streets do look slightly too clean for Dickensian London* and also the Oliver character is a bit too 'in your face' as my mum put it!

(*Speaking of all things Dickensian (kind of...), why is it so wrong to fancy Russell Brand? lol)

I have no more uni work to do until January...my dissertation is "going well"...this is a good feeling! :)

I have discovered that on ebay you can buy hardly worn or new clothes from Topshop etc for half the price or less...I may utilise this for a birthday dress, hmm. Either that or some lovely person might give me money to spend exclusively in le shop of top! Haha, I wish :p

Hope everyone has a great Christmas, in case I'm not on again before!

Random!
This is basically just a post to say that I'v been watching The Mighty Boosh recently and it's sooo good...seen little snippets of it before, but now I've been properly watching the new series. Ahaha, it's so bizarre and therefore funny! Plus Noel Fielding is hot in an unusual way...also, he's on Never mind the Buzzcocks at the moment! :)

The Klxons gig was great...although we were kind of far away and enclosed by tall people all around. But eventually we moved further back and could see much better!

How good is Bloc Party's new song, Flux? I was actually bidding for tickets to see them on ebay but someone keeps outbidding me...and I'm not paying more than £10! Haha, it started at 99p which would've been such a bargain, never mind :p

* * *
It's the weekend! (practically)
Yes, it is indeed. What is with the weather though?! It's actually so freezing :p

Last night I actually started the first chapter of my dissertation - 400 words! I decided to think of it as three seperate essays, all just under 2000 words...much easier that way. Need a draft of the first part by around Tuesday, damn slavedriver adviser :/

I've seen a few postgraduate courses I'd like to do...all at Napier University it would seem. Hehe well, would be nice to go to Edinburgh. The ones that have caught my special attention are International Tourism Management, Cultural Tourism Management, Journalism, Creative Advertising, Publishing, and International Festival and Events Management...so quite varied! I think the tourism and publishing ones appeal to me the most though. I have no idea when I should apply or if I'll even get in or how to go about getting funding (you're not guaranteed a place) My dad said he'd help me out with money if I needed it but I'd feel quite bad...the courses cost over £3000, plus if I was moving to Edinburgh there'd be rent etc. May have to get a student loan - eek, debt! Anywaaaay, we shall just see what happens with all that!

Right now I'm looking forward to lunch (I know we have paninis in the house!), a girly night out tonight involving cocktails, and the Klaxons gig next week! :)
