Some things from this week so far

I signed up for TinEye which is a search engine that finds the reproductions of an image on the web. First thing I put in was Apollo because I know of a wallpaper website that has it on there.
Now I want to cry :(
Right at the bottom. WTF is that?! D:
Along with 7 other foreign websites, it's daunting to have to contact every one to get things removed :(
I did this while wanting to get onto City of Heroes yesterday and make a new hero before band. Didn't happen :( Perhaps I'll do it over my lunch break; no one's here at the lab today, and the temptation is too great. I need to do it while I have the character in my head!!

But at band last night, we played the 1812 Overture. Fantastic tune. It's close to 20 minutes long if played in full, and it kills your lips, but it's very satisfying to play.
We need to get a theatrical cannon for concerts though! XD

Going to see Hellboy 2 on Saturday!!
Saw the Dark Knight too a few weeks back. Very good, though I think I need to see it again to get the full gist of it. Some good films out at the moment.

I've been playing Halo 3 again. Thinking about it, it's just a lot of good fun. With all the different weapons and vehicles. Then you have to fight the stupid flood :( Give me giant Brutes with mallets over them any day!

And in a few weeks, going to Norham! I've been looking forward to this for ages. It's like the home-away-from-home.

Goin' to Italy. brb
So, saturday morning I'm off to Italy for our bi-annual band tour. I haven't been bothered about going at all. I'm more excited about going to Northumberland in september :(
This evening I'm starting to get a more positive feeling. I love travelling, flying, not knowing the language, seeing new pretty places. Hooray.
It's just that band has been so boring lately. I'm sat now in a boring position in the band that's not important, I'm sat next to people who I can't enjoy witty comments with, and people are getting more and more irritating, and quite frankly, rude. Mum and I have devised the term Short-Arse Syndrome. Short fat people who are stuck up and rude. They're quite common.

There's a lot I need to catch up on with this lj and DA. Loads has happened in the last 18 months, but I haven't been comfortable telling anyone. Not even friends at home, friends online. And because it's long I can't be bothered to do it!
I don't have any energy for art either at the moment. I blame computer games :( But damnit they're fun, and online is made of win.
Sadly my laptop is hindering me in my gaming (it might be a good thing). Graphics card drivers. D'oh! I don't know what to upgrade it with, whether I find a compatible Nvidia one, or go elsewhere. And Nvidia don't even have the drivers for this card because it's in a notebook. Argh, too complicated.
Atleast I still have City of Heroes... XD

An end to cub art, 'ey?
I heard this on the radio this morning and nodded in agreement. Cub art is something I hate about the furry community (and what puts me off it, amongst other things). I hope this gets adopted world wide.
It was this person here commenting that got me riled about it too... Atleast I'd be able to slap the sod and tell him it's bloody illegal.

It's so lovely and sunny outside. I'm looking forward to this week; might be seeing Ironman soon and a BBQ on friday (with sun!).
My bank holiday weekend was spent infront of my laptop playing Halo. Oh it was fun. Intense, but fun. I just ordered Halo 2 (on pc). I need my fix, I'm so addicted!
I celebrated this new love with this!
Ok, thats sad...
Recent commission was a success. I manage to get a secondary lightsource to look good!

It's under the cut )

I think I'll take a break from commissions and try and do some personal work. I've got so many pictures floating in my head and I want to get them out. Somehow...

My dissertation topic is set for next year: Reindeer Vs Red deer, circumpolar cervid strife in the upper pleistocene. Basically, when the ice melting after the ice age, red deer started to move north and into the reindeer's tundra habitat, which is shrinking. So there's competition.
It's a bit daunting...

This man deserves a medal. It's fixed! It's fixed!! Now I have music to groove my art thing to!

...

Having said that, I just can't be bothered :( Getting no art from the exchange last month has miffed me so much that I just can't rush and enjoy this like I usually do :( Even though it's a lovely man chest...

But another good thing: Peggle has noise again!!! *chorus*

I'm getting really miffed now. Since the last windows update, my laptop has been taking the piss :( A message pops up about the acer software cocking up with the wind The network/connecting to the web seems to be the problem; whenever I open something about the network/sharing freezes the window :( This mean I have no music, and therefore my art can't work well :( AAAAAAARGh. And stupid windows, it can't go back to a restore point. It failed twice to go back to two different restore points.
Things have been fine with vista until now; I get annoyed with people who bad mouth it when they haven't actually sat down and used it before.

Pah! I'm going to bed :(

Just some photos, and an excuse to put some new cat pictures up.

Meooooooww )

So at the moment, the cats don't like Titus very much, Momo/Molly is afraid, Lucy and Tiger are bitchy and hissy, and the dogs love him. Amber gets excited and scare him, but he's getting used to them. It'll just take time. I want Titus and Momo to get along :(

It's the Regional Brass Band Championships on sunday. Wish us luck! I think we're going to need it...

Bed time. Night night!

New Cat Get!

Woo, phone picture

Here he is! He's so sweet! Mum visited the RSPCA cat lady today and got the paperwork done. She lives in his huge old house near the park in Huddersfield, with all the origional wallpaper and stuff. Like a crazy cat lady.
Then in the afternoon, just when I met mum on the way home from work, fostering lady rang up and said we can collect him any time!
Yay cat! He's all dark grey, like a blue cat but he's got a hint of tabby in him. He's a stray, so a bit skinny and scabby right now. He's less than a year old.
I've called him Titus. It was going to be Titan, from titanium, but mum liked Titus because of Sir Titus Salt who founded Salts Mill in Bradford. It has significance to her.

So, his first night, Momo/Molly was scared and dissapeared, Lucy stalked him for a while, Tiger didn't even notice him, and he seemed to ignore them. The dogs came home last night and just wanted to play, but we kept him in the conservatory away from them. He seemed alright with them.

I'd would much rather be at home with Titus than here in Bradford working! :(

On the subject of LJ paid account, I might offer commissions in exchange, like I did for my last DA subscription.

Paid account... And a cat!
Does anyone have a paid account? I'm very tempted to get one... I think I'll probably fill up the 30 userpics in one go. Then I'd have to upgrade to 100 userpics! £15 a year in total isn't bad, though. Same as deviantart...

Hmmmmm, userpics!

Oh, yeah, I might as well make use of this entry.

Last night we went to see a year old cat/kitten in fostering at the moment. He was the most amazing cat ever! He's all dark grey with slightly less grey toes. Soooo sweet too! All he wanted was hugs. We're definately getting him! All we need to do is think of a name (ok, and fill in paper work etc, but thats not important!)
After hearing that one of the technicians at work has a cat called Picard, I set out to think of a Star Trek/Sci Fi name. Ben (Sisko) is at the top of the list right now. It's also BlackWing's real name, but I haven't mentioned that yet.
Getting another cat this week!!!!

Yay two bids

$14 is only £7 though, which isn't a lot. Someone's getting a bargin imo.

I'm gonna have to get moving on a slightly more naughty picture before I talk myself out of it! XD

I tried to get a set of two like this, and before that a pegasus with bat-wings. Outbid :(
but yay
I also got Fimo polymer clay, like sculpey. Now I can make pretties in 3d!

I suppose my icon is meaningful at the moment... I spoke back to the conductor at band and told my dad where to go. I feel tough. Rar! *POW*
As soon as I signed up to ebay all I wanted to buy was tat. Yay tat

Someone recommended I sell prints of famous people on ebay. It's tempting. Hmmmmom income!

Hey everyone. I hope you're all having a good holiday. I've been looking forward to a break- no early starts, no buses to Bradford. I haven't fully enjoyed it yet though- we've been busy with band and work everyday. I had to work yesterday, which was pants.
Band has been alright lately. After playing for an hour and a half in the park in Brighouse, I then suggested we played for 30 mins outside Sainsbury's (my work). £50 for 30 minutes isn't bad. Then the band played for a bit yesterday and got £180. Even better. We need the money. Just from this morning we got £410!

Today hasn't been as bad as I thought it'd be. I was worried with just Grandma here, but then my sister came over too, unexpectedly. Stupid rotten father won't make her a christmas dinner. So the two of them are staying over night.
Amber got spooked by fireworks yesterday and wrecked the beautiful tree :( It was so pretty, now it's missing half the decorations and its even more lopsided.

Last night I also went to the pub for the evening and came home with two trouserlegs of denim. Just one leg, from about the knee down. It was a fun night.

So thats my xmas so far. Me and mum are going to get our costumes for new years this week. We're both going as Cat Woman, but I'm going as the Halle Berry, and mum will be the earlier versions! It should be a great night!

I feel like I've gotten so much love in this last year from online friends. A giant group gift art is in order... It'll be huge, and take ages! There're so many great people who need virtual hugs and squeezes.

I can't be bothered to go to bed, but Porco Rosso by Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away) is on at 6:05 tomorrow. I will be waking up early for that!

Have a good rest of christmas everyone!
xx

Not that I'm an Avatard or anything...

Quite a lot of people are coming to the party now :D Should be great fun. Looks like we're gonna have an early and later parties, with a family with kids coming.

Might be making a website for uni/work next week :D Looking forward to that.
Plus, I have a chance to get arty!

Work placement so far
So, I'm just taking my lunch break at work/uni. It's been great so far! Its quite relaxed and fun and friendly. Lovely people.

So far, I've been retouching slides, taking photos of lithics and last week, went to see a deer being butchered at York Museum!

The sika deer was shot on monday, and butchered on wednesday by local student butchers. It was already gutted, and when we got there, they had just started skinning it. It took around 45 minutes to take the skin off, then all afternoon they were taking bits of meat off. All with flints!
See what you think; at the moment the pictures are only on my facebook page, but I plan on adding some bigger ones to photobucket or something.
I give you Derek the Deer  Not suitable for those of a weak disposition, or vegetarians. It's not bloody and horrific though, it's just like being at a butchers shop or something. Look at the butchers, they were nice :)
Also, the bones are now in our possession, and soon we will have to deflesh them. Hmmm should be interesting. Possibly smelly. With maggots and beetles! I'll keep you posted
We don't have the head. I don't know where it's gone. It had some antlers too, though damaged from fighting. So the skin and head and feet are still at the museum. We'll see.

The last few days we've been cooking and defleshing whole fish. We had to gut one this morning. Blech! It was pretty gross, and it stank even more than the last two (pre-gutted) fish.

So, outside work, art is zilch. I made a start on a contest entry, but I'd have to pull out all the stops to get it done on time. Nope, not possible. I'm gonna enter EquineExchange for november because it's my whole years membership. I just need to make sure I have the time to do art!

Gonna have a house party for my 21st, and everyone is envited. It's on friday the 30th of November, a day after my birthday. I know some folks on my facebook read this (through rss) so just drop me a private message or email or anything for my address and directions. I'll be writing an event ma-hooley too on there.

Right, I better go. Gotta go home to my other job now. Hopefully the bursary for uni-work will come through soon...
See you soon!

I'm a published artist!

So, the band CD is out! Finished! And it looks brilliant. Our conductor made me stand up in the concert today. I could feel myself going red.

And click here
But it does look good, and I'm very happy with it, and lots of people like it at band and the folks that bought them at the church today.
I'm officially a published artist! So, it's not massive, but it's bigger than some of these famous kid-artists that draw cartoon doggies. It ain't gonna get them anywhere in life.
Our conductor John also did his usual un-clear muttering commentry and said something like... drawn by hand without a computer. When really is should have been drawn by hand on the computer. Which got me thinking. To a bunch of old people who probably watched 'how to watercolour' on ITV they probably don't think much of digital art. Outside the internet, digital art isn't at the forefront of the art world.
If I'd made the cd cover with some traditional media, it'd be even more of an accomplishment on my part.

Grandma Crisp at the concert today said that even though I'd done it on a computer, it was still art, I had still drawn it and designed it and created. She made me feel better. I could give a whole rant about how digital is still art, and I bet you other digi-artists would agree.

My website is popped in the CD insert. Ok, thats bothering me too. I was talking to Amy from uni about the art she'd seen on my facebook page. She said my man-horse was cool. But now I'm a bit bothered about 'man-horses' on a website that I hope potential customers will see, and too be honest, in the real world it's not everyone's cup of tea. My mother doesn't seem to like it sometimes... I hope DA hurries up with this portfolio feature. Mind you some of my anthro work is my favourite. Argh damnit. I can't win. And I want it on my personal website too. Lol, that personal website of mine!

I've been busy lately, and I haven't had much energy to draw do my website or anything. Just when there's lots of contests I want to enter, such as the one at The Clan and by daichym and wolf-wind. If I can't get around to to doing both, I'll have to prioritise them :(

It's an update, oh my!
Hello, here I am. Not much to say really. I could say a lot more, but I'm gonna work myself up to it. I've been doing that for a while now.

First:It's a Cut! )

This is a Bubble, a character of mine who hasn't been drawn by me yet
Anyway, big ups for [info]talzanna who has done a marvelous job! I should definately draw her more, 'cos she's more fursona than a lot of my characters. Infact I should draw more girlies in general.

Second:
I have new glasses. I wasn't going to get any, but this pair stood out. They're in black and red, rectangular, with a rimless bottom. And it was sometime after getting them I realised they were BlackWing colours. Cool :D

Third:
Started my placement at Bradford Uni. It's a 9am start, which means getting up at 7am. I'm getting used to it already. For the last few days I have been touching up dirty old slides that have been scanned into the computer. The first 100 are the worst. I must have done 200 on tuesday... And today I was cleaning flints. It takes ages, 'cos you've fot to leave them to soak then scrub and soak.
So free time is pfft. Just when I promised the kids at The Clan I'd draw them some animals (mostly wolves). I need to scrape and save up some arting time too :(
Just when I got Art Rage again.

A lovely good thing: tv-links.co.uk has the new series of Avatar. Oh yes! ^^

Crud! How could I forget? This weekend is the National Finals in Harrogate. This is the second year that my band has qualified for it. I'm looking forward to it. The test piece we have to play is called Imperium, after the book by Robert Harris about three Roman Emperors. So it's all a bit trumpetty and lots of drums. Wish us luck!!
