06:06 pm - Best error message ever You know the compiler is having a bad day when this is an error spit out:
>util.cpp(18) : error C2767: managed array dimension mismatch : expected 1 argument(s) - -1 provided
No, i didn't write it. I don't write shitty programming languages like C++ or Perl.

09:26 pm - Good quote of the day I like C; it gives me the ability to do useful work unlike java which just fills up the address space with tchochkes it calls objects that I don't need, then runs the garbage collector instead of my code. a lot like a demented grandmother

01:10 pm - Okay, the stupidity of the human race just surprised even me. Okay, densaer you'll like this one.
Apparently some git stole one of the IP Phones from one of our labs. And it wasn't even one of the good ones, either, it was one of the crappy 7910 series phones. Who in the world steals a VOIP phone?

08:44 am - WTF? Okay, this is all kinds of fucked up. Can anybody up north confirm the reputation of the source?

06:45 am - How do they get PhDs? User comes to me yesterday having issues with firefox chewing on itself and segfaulting. User is on an Ultra 5 with the extra crappy 360MHz CPUs (Can you say 256kB L2?), 256MB main memory, and 512MB swap. All in all, that's the swap setup that I would likely put if I were installing such a calibre box.
The problem: The user's workstation was just upgraded from Sol9 to Sol10 which in and of itself isn't a problem. The problem: he keeps staroffice 7, acroread, firefox, and exmh all open.
And he wonders why the hell his box is constantly thrashing? Hell firefox has a footprint of about 160MB after being open about 48 hours.
Honestly, how does one get a PhD, yet not see the problem with that. Current Mood: shaking my head

06:51 am - Stupidity abounds... Okay, so I just saw this. I don't really care how drunk you are, but what kind of moron actually thinks a bedsheet will work for a rope?
I cannot confirm or deny that I've ever rappelled in dorms on this campus, but FFS I used real static and dynamic rope as appropriate!
(The mood is embarassed because I'm embarrased for the human race that people like this get produced.) Current Mood: embarrassed
