alicetiara and I got tix! Didn't get in fast enough to get a room though (I guess the 3 person rooms went quickest), so we've got no place to stay yet. If anyone is looking for extra bodies to fill up a room, let me know. Otherwise it's time to investigate hotel options in the Catskills.
w00t!
Edit: At least for the moment, I've got a room booked at the Super 8 in Monticello. Wonder how trashy it will be? <5 miles from the festival though. |

Hey, check it out! I'm speaking at the O'reilly Open Source Conference in July on some stuff I'll be open sourcing from within Google.
GXP is a templating system used to output XML/SGML markup (most often HTML). Used internally at google for many years, we are now open sourcing this tool for community use and development. GXP has the following core features...
It'll be cool (if you're a big nerd). You should come! |

| Lost |
[Mar. 24th, 2008|10:25 am] |
I watched all 8 episodes of Lost Season 4 yesterday. 3 on the plane, and the rest when I got to the hotel. I'd been saving them up since the start of the season so I could binge. I didn't love them *quite* as much as I had hoped considering all my friends raves, but they were pretty damn good. Now I've gotta wait through the mid-season break before I can get another fix. Boo. |

[Jan. 7th, 2008|05:18 pm] |
Just to kill the monotony of everyone on my friends list (save jette) having that "Blue on top, Red on bottom" thing going on....
60% John McCain 59% Rudy Giuliani 57% Chris Dodd 55% Dennis Kucinich 55% Mitt Romney 53% Ron Paul 53% Mike Gravel 51% Mike Huckabee 51% Barack Obama 50% Hillary Clinton 50% Bill Richardson 50% Joe Biden 46% John Edwards 44% Fred Thompson 36% Tom Tancredo
2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz
A few of the questions I thought all of the answers were stupid though. Especially the one about pollution. |

[Sep. 18th, 2007|09:36 pm] |
There is no god damed way I'm going to pay over a thousand dollars for going 87 in a 65 (when people were doing 80 in the slow lane) even if it means I don't step another foot in the state of Virginia for the rest of my life. |

| Dismemberment Plan @ The Black Cat |
[Apr. 29th, 2007|02:04 pm] |
Took the train the DC on Friday to hang with queiss and try to get into the Black Cat for the Dismemberment Plan. Showed up suuuuper early, and actually got in without too much trouble at all. Made friends with some locals + two guys that had flown in from London. We situated ourselves right at the very front and stood there through two (actually damn good) opening bands. The plan's set was awesome. They must place played over 20 songs for well over an hour and a half. Played all my favorites (Back & Forth, The Invitation, Spider in the Snow, Ice of Boston (dancing on stage!)). The most pit was getting a little crazy at times, but most everyone was cool about it and just dancing and having a good time. I think close to half the crowd had come in from out of town.
Oh ya, spotted Ben Gibbard. My note on Seattle Notables should go up soon! My second Seattle Notable sighting. Pretty good considering I live 3000 miles away. |

| So long Dens + Alex |
[Apr. 16th, 2007|01:41 am] |
Official announcement from Dens that he + Alex quit Google this past Friday. While I like to think that I was a damn good engineer, my work counted for about 90% of the support they got from Google over the past two years, and that just wasn't enough to make much happen. Good luck to them on their future endeavors.
For those who aren't already aware, while I'm still the go to guy for the site, I have largely moved on to other projects at Google. |

| Mystery 1099 |
[Apr. 2nd, 2007|12:27 pm] |
So recieved a mystery 1099 this year showing 26.94 in interest earned by an account at Bank of America. The weird thing is, I was not aware that I had any account at Bank of America. So I called the customer service number and apparently this is an account in my name that is holding the security deposit on my apartment. I've lived in 3 different apartments before this one, and never has such a thing happened before. Weird. Not really a big deal, but it was kinda odd.
Anyone else ever have this happen? |

| xkcd |
[Mar. 28th, 2007|10:17 pm] |
Pretty much every single Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have to resist blabbing on about how awesome xkcd is. It is certainly my most favorite comic of all time. Then again, I am the precise target market for it.
The associated blag is great too. Look at that picture of Cory! OMG!
Today's one about Ender's game is great, but I still think this one is my favorite.
XKCD! OMG BEST EVAR. FAN BOY, FAN BOY, FAN BOY!!!!!!1111!!!!!
OK.
I'm done now. |

DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT!
I did not get tickets to either one of the Dismemberment Plan reunion shows and now I might die. Or at least try to find someone who will trade me one. For a kidney or something.
PS: Daft Punk is doing a limited North American tour. If you don't go, you're an idiot. |

| Arcade Fire Show |
[Feb. 14th, 2007|01:54 pm] |
Saw Arcade Fire last night. It was good, but not mind blowing. Accoustincs in the church were not the best, and their set really wasn't very long (75 minutes with the 2 song encore).
One note: they sold about 50 tickets at the door, so if you want to see them, you might try stopping by and giving it a shot. |
