I looked over at the end of this and saw tears streaming down Mike's cheek.  He's such a sap on the inside.

Amidst all of this Hurricane bsnss

I stumbled across this footage of Hurricane Ike today.   Sure it looks like the usual "Here's some waves crashing into the beach during a hurricane," there's something special about this one that makes me smile...

I can totally hear him say in a ridiculous British accent, "My what a rather blustry day.  I didn't read about this in the paper!  Guess some good fresh air couldn't do me any harm.  Pip pip"

They spelled my name wrong, but it doesn't make it any less awesome...

I checked my phone all day at work hoping i would get his text, but it looks like my phone will have to just stay by my side until I know who his running mate is.

LIFE ALTERING BREAKING NEWS!

I just found someone on Facebook who spells my legal first name weirder than I do.  Never in my life would I ever think this would happen.  EVER.

My legal name is spelled Jenaffer.  I'm pretty sure that I'm one of very few people to spell my name this way.  This girl spells her name are you ready for this, Jenipher.  It's mind boggling, really.  I get a lot of comments on the spelling of my name, but this chick must get it like every single time her name shows up in writing somewhere...

Dude, I feel slightly more normal in the name department...

I poked around the NaNoWriMo site last night and found a blog post asking for suggestions for pep talks.  I added Christopher Moore in, but quickly realized that the post was from March.  Oh well.  What surprised me the most was how many people wanted to have our hero, Stephanie Meyer, do a pep talk.  I think that's the last thing us NaNovelists need is a pep talk from her.  Maybe it would be a good comic relief during week 3, but of all of the great inspirational writers out there...people actually want her to be cheering us on?

I've finally decided to participate in Mission 101.  My start date was yesterday, the 2nd anniversary of my dad's passing.  I have no idea when my deadline is, but without further ado, here's my list...

Tadah! )

So I woke up this morning and my shoulder muscles were killing me.  It hurt so much that I was almost crying from the pain.  I have no idea if it's the way I'm sleeping or if I'm dehydrated or what, but it was definitely a rude awakening.  It happened the other day too, but it didn't hurt nearly as bad.  Hopefully a few Advil will help make things better.

Lola's First Day at School

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Some of you may be unaware of this fact, but I am obsessed with my dog Lola. She is my child, and I spoil her as such.

Anyway, today was her first day at a new day care. It seems that the manager of the PetsHotel (where I used to work), really doesn't like the fact that I still come around and use their services, and absolutely detests that I demand that Lola be kept in a room where she won't feel claustrophobic. THe last time I brought her there, we argued to the point that we were almost yelling at each other over the ordeal. I don't care whether I used to work for you or not. If I make a request when it comes to the care of my child, then by golly you should do it.

I took a tour of a new facility right up the road from MIke's store last week and decided that we would try it out. One of the awesome things about this new place is that I can watch Lola play via webcam. So without further ado, here's my baby girl at her first day of camp...

When Mike and I picked her up tonight, she was all excited about the day, but then quickly fell asleep in my lap.  D'aww.

Mike did something today that filled me with glee.  He referred to Lola as his dog.  Ever since I adopted Lola a year ago, he's always called her my dog.  Now, I think he's connected to her enough to consider her his.

The Spazmatics

I may or may not have expressed my love and adoradtion for this band, but I am going to do so now.

This is The Spazmatics, quite possibly the most amazing cover band ever. There have been many a night [info]lavendergoddess  and I have danced our hearts out to them. Lord knows how many times we've gone to see them, but it's still amazing.

Let me give you an inkling of what his band is all about. The bassist on the left wears a bike helmet and a Star Wars backpack. During the show, he does a dance and breaks out a light saber. It is nothing short of extraordinarily awesome.  He also does a rendition of "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" which is also noteworthy.

I would also like to say that this band is the reason why I am absolutely obsessed with the song Take on Me.   It might be safe to say that my obsession with 80's music in general is helped greatly by seeing The Spaz.  When I get married, I will do everything in my power to have them play at my reception.  It's that good.

It is absolutely necessary for everyone to see these guys in order for life to go on. It is just that imperative.

Scary storm last night.

I would probably have slept through it if Mike didn't wake me up.  When he did I could have sworn that there was a tornado pretty close, but it was just the wind.

When I took Lola for her pre-bedtime walk, she quickly took care of business.  Then she took a few steps, stopped and sniffed the air.  We didn't even make it around the first corner before she did that enough times to let me know we needed to head inside.  I looked at the radar and the storm was forever away at that point, but Lola does not like to take chances.  She is terrified of storms, and while Mike and I were watching the weather report, she curled up in a tiny ball (what I lovingly call the CinnaLola) and buried her head under my arm.

This morning we quickly realized just how much rain we got.  Our poor little sprouts were almost drowned, and MIke could only save 2 of the 6 peppers I bought him.  We got everything under control, but man it was crazy.

Nothing like a nice funny video to make a really long hard day so much better...

I think the lower half of the lady on the left is a ghost, or maybe all of her is.

This made my heart fill with bursts of laughter, oh man. I really hope this is a joke. If not, McCain had better watch out!

HOLY CRAP I HAVE INTERNETS!!!

5 days is just too long without my beloved interconnected web.

Mike and I are officially moved in.  We're slowly making progress to make it look somewhat like a home, but our den still looks like a storage unit.  Today I'm bringing Lola over, so it'll feel a little more like a home.  The apartment is really nice, and everyone seems to be nice.  The maintenance guy comes really quick too.

Oh man, my internet is almost uncomfortably fast.

2 days until the big day guys, Everything's pretty much set up with the exception of the internets. That'll get taken care of today.

The movers are confirmed, and I'm very excited about that. I have a feeling they'll be well worth the money.

In other news, I just found my dream bed. Behold! )I found it at the JCPenney Outlet for a price that happened to be better than Ikea, plus it looks to be a heck of a lot sturdier. Seriously guys, I am in love.

In even more fantastic news, Eddie Izzard will be in Dallas in June. You have no idea how much this makes my life! When he comes to the US, he usually goes to San Francisco or New York, so I am completely elated it's not even funny.

Here is one of my favorite parts of Dressed to Kill. There's a teeny bit language, so don't blast this at work or anything...
