So sleepy all of a sudden.

I did make to the library for about an hour and a half, found a few good books to take out and took some notes. Unfortunately a lot of their books on China were from the '80s, which just isn't current enough to use to write a paper on the current political and economic climates of a country. It was pretty nostalgic being at the library, where I spent so much time as a child. Lots of vague, fuzzy memories there. I remember when there was still a paper card catalog, and one computer in the whole place. Now you damned kids get off my lawn!

After the library, I deposited some checks at the bank and then went to the mall for a bit. Got a new dress and top on sale at Gap and a couple of things at the Bath & Body Works sale. I love their hair conditioners, but at $7.50 for those little bottles, I'll only buy them when they're on sale (2 for $10 right now).

I think I'll check out my mom's Wii Fit tonight for the first time. I would go for a run, but I'm feeling in a homebody-ish mood and don't really want to go out again. The way I'm feeling now, if I manage not to take a nap, I expect I'll be hitting the sack by 10.

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?

Car bill right now, since it's the highest one.

2. Where's the best place to eat a romantic dinner?

Hmm... in a sparsely candle-lit restaurant, with rain pouring outside, delicious food on the table, and Justin sitting across from me. :)

Has anyone besides me noticed those increasingly ubiquitous ads for the dating site True? I find myself simultaneously amused, disgusted, and annoyed by them. They're all directed to men only, with short repeating videos of scantily-clad girls being silly and completely ingenuine, lying about in various poses. The newest one is the lamest as of yet... a girl, purportedly alone in bed on her computer, has headphones on and is rocking out to the lamest degree possible. The most annoying aspect of the ads is that the girls all look completely fake, playing really obviously to the camera, and the ads themselves look like the beginning scenes of porno movies.

Is this a real dating site? If so, how the hell do they attract actual women? Are men really attracted to the women in the ads? Am I the only one who finds these ads really freaking annoying?

A few days ago my aunt brought home a local free paper, kind of like the Phoenix in Boston or Providence, or the Village Voice in NYC. I browsed through it and noticed that Cowboy Mouth (one of my favorite bands, whom I've been following for about 12 years now) was playing across the river in Covington, Kentucky, which is just a short 20 minutes or so down the highway from here. I mentioned it to my aunt and she said she might actually come along.

So tonight we headed out... she actually did end up joining me. The venue was of a modest size, with tables and chairs out in cabaret-style. I was interested to see how this might work out with Cowboy Mouth's usual tear-the-roof-off live style. Somewhat predictably, Fred came out and after the first song or two, actually went out into the audience and coaxed nearly everyone down into the small standing room area around the stage. This wasn't too difficult, as it was actually a somewhat small crowd. Apparently they haven't played here in awhile.

The band had changed a lot... I think only Fred and the guitarist were there the last time I saw them, but the new bassist and rhythm guitarist were awesome and high energy. They played some old stuff, some new stuff, and some stuff off a new album that comes out next month, and were just as good as always, passionate, in-your-face, and impossible to ignore. Fred was somewhat subdued, especially towards the end, since apparently his mind was on New Orleans and the approaching storm that might bring some trouble. The encore was one quiet ballad, with just Fred on his acoustic guitar, a song he'd written after Katrina, about wanting to grow old in New Orleans.

I'm glad I got to go.

Today was nicely balanced by productiveness and time wasting, I think. I played the Sims a bit more than I should've, but I also got a lot of stuff done. I'm almost done with grad school paperwork now, woo hoo. I'm going to head to bed now, try not to sleep too late tomorrow (I think 10 would be reasonable), finish packing/making the house presentable, and hit the road by early afternoon hopefully.
