appleworld - APPLE TV UPDATE

Oh happy day! The 2.2 update did it--I can listen to internet radio on the Apple TV without having to stream it from my computer. I'm blasting with the big speakers any music that the vast sea of the Internet can provide. You do have to create a playlist of radio stations on iTunes, since there still isn't searching available for radio like with podcasts and YouTube. Get on it, Apple! And while you're at it, could I have an iPod Touch with 80 GB of storage for less than $300? Especially now that
LastFM is available on it. That'd be great, thanks.

appleworld - Okay, here's what I want
This is kind of my holy grail for the iPhone. Having this would make my cool phone into the One Phone to Rule Them All. (Er. If you'll forgive the mixed metaphor there.)
( Read more... )ETA: You know what, I was overthinking this. I set up a calendar on Google calendar, and have the reminders come to my iPhone by SMS. Doesn't clutter up my iCal, which I use purely for appointments now (yay!), and since it's a passive way of receiving my reminders, I don't have to tick "done" when I'm done, I just delete the SMS message. Plus, it's free. Score!

macintosh - Ancient ad-blocking? hostsformac
I work in the art dept and we're all on macs. I'm currently on a mac pro, running 10.5.4 with a 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel processor.
The company IT person (PCs, we're largely left to our own devices, literally, up here) sent me an email on how to get ad-blocking. The thing is, on the page, it says it was updated in 2001.

osts (sorry, lj won't take my link, grrr)

2001?
Is it worth me going through figuring out doing this to avoid some spam or is there any point with info that old?
I'd like someone who knows what s/he's talking about to clue me in.
Thanks!

macosx - any thoughts on kernel panic errors
I've got a iMac intel 24" system.
OS Tiger 4.11
have backed up a bootable system and have been running off of that but am still getting kernel panic errors like popcorn.
I've been doing some research
some suggest its bad ram
(did a test w/ my terminal app and all looks fine)
I'm going to be installing leopard this coming week, hoping that it will 'fix' these issues.
anytime I am running something like Final Cut Studio 1 and i'm exporting using Compressor ... it panics and gives me the dreaded grey curtain with the kernel.
right before this happens though I get intermittent stripes of pixelation that look kind of like this:

the 'line' stays put when I move the window around. this happens in mail, in my browser, etc. for example, I just got another dashed line of red across this browser as I was placing that image.
anyone have any words of advice or suggestions?
(sorry for the long post)
