jen needs mix help again
you know, if you weren't all so darn helpful, i wouldn't ask you all this so often.

So, I am making a mix called "Swing Arizona Blue."
Is supposed to be full of songs to provide inspiratation/motivation for all the hard work to do in these last weeks before the election.
I've got tons of songs to make you mad about the current state of the world, but I think I want to try and keep it positive.
Here's what I've got so far:

1. President -- Dan Bern
2. Pastures of Plenty -- Solas (Woody Guthrie cover)
3. Unless You Are Free -- Utah Phillips
4. Don't Kill -- Hamell on Trial
5. I'm a Givin' Way -- Laura Love
6. All You Fascists -- Billy Bragg & Wilco
7. If It Were Up to Me -- Cheryl Wheeler

Any great ideas?
And if anyone wants to hear any of the songs I've got so far, let me know.

how about spearhead, "bomb the world" or "everyone deserves music" (even our worst enemies, they deserve music...) Or really anything of theirs!

That's too bad because I'd suggest "I'm afraid of Americans" by David Bowie.
Oh.. and that Sting song, "Russians" I think, the one with "Do the Russians love their children too?"

Yeah, I have no shortage of depressing songs. I could fill cd after cd with those.

Victims of Comfort -- Keb Mo
Rivers -- Cheryl Wheeler
American Skin (41 Shots) -- Bruce Springsteen
your next bold move -- Ani DiFranco
It's a Hard Life Wherever You Go -- Nanci Griffith
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee -- Indigo Girls
Last of the Great Whales -- Solas
Hole in the Bucket -- Catie Curtis
Shoot Me -- WOMB
Plane Wreck at Los Gatos -- Bruce Springsteen (Woody Guthrie cover)
Banks of the Hudson -- Black 47

and that's all without even really having to think about it.

I was going to make some suggestions in a comment, but it ended up being so long that I made it a post on my own blog (http://www.adammessinger.com/2004/10/21/activist-rock). I know your musical tastes don't always jibe with mine, but hopefully you'll find something of use to you. :-)

Here's a couple more:

  • "Son of a Bush (http://display.lyrics.astraweb.com:2000/display.cgi?public_enemy%2E%2Erevolverlution%2E%2Eson_of_a_bush)," by Public Enemy (listen to it (http://audiolunchbox.com/album?a=669))
  • "Mathematics (http://www.sing365.com/music/Lyric.nsf/Mathematics-lyrics-Mos-Def/4014CBF80970A88F482568BD0021EC83#)" and "New World Water (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/New-World-Water-lyrics-Mos-Def/F991F6264F1E5790482568BD0021C1C1)," by Mos Def (both excellent)
