halloween
After the play Thursday night, I shaved my head (except for little horns) for Halloween. We had several good costumes at work (but I bought the only jack-o-lantern). Various people at work took photos but there's no single good gallery of them yet. I think
bovineone (who dyed his hair green) and I had the best costumes, and we won the prizes to prove it. :) He and I put a few in his halloween2003 gallery. If you're desperate,
xomox (who also did hair alteration, making 3 of us) took some horrible, blurred pics with his cellphone camera... I have a pic of the dugout costumes (me,
bovineone,
shyape,
ghewgill, aphid, and my jack-o-lantern) and a pic of xomox. Another fun costume was the simple-but-mysterious ghost under a sheet who walked around slowly, not saying anything; we kept wondering and speculating who it was and took a while to figure out it was several people tag-teaming. We also had the movie Evil Dead playing all day, so lots of good horrific screams in the office. Much better than last year when I was the only one to do anything for Halloween at work...
In the evening, I ate dinner at Mother's restaurant and went to the witches ball with 2 friends Wendy and Leslie. It was not very crowded, a party/fundraiser for the local pagan crowd more than a general big public event it seems, but nonetheless enjoyable. Lots of cool costumes there, mostly pagan/goth/sm-related, though there was also a silly superhero (C++ man). The first music was Wyrdgrl who I'd not heard before and enjoyed. Then Maggie Drennon played, which was great and had me dancing the whole time. It was delightfully surreal fun, dancing around in a French maid's dress at a costumed ball to excellent live music by Maggie Drennon! Sadly I'd agreed to go to a party (which turned out rather unremarkable) as well that night (too much stuff goes on during Halloween!) so I had to miss the second set of Maggie Drennon. I also would have liked to have seen Sixth Street this year: since Halloween was Friday night, it was probably a crowded madhouse, but I enjoy seeing all the costumes; oh well. Too much revelry, too little time!
And now this weekend will be full of more fun at the Celtic music festival, yay!
