Tagged by Camus - 10 Random Facts [Jun. 15th, 2008|05:07 pm]
[Current Music |the new Coldplay album]

  1. I believe Ruffles Cheddar with Sour Cream is the best potato chips flavor on earth, and, borrowing words from Phillip Seymour Hoffman, anyone who thinks otherwise, I will fight to the death.
  2. On that note, I will choose Ruffles over cake, chocolate, ice cream and/or cookies.
  3. Ever since I had my eyes lasered, I have had an extreme dependency on eye drops. I have a whole assortment of them.
  4. I felt genuine panic when I lost my Rules of Court. However, I am also looking forward to buying a new one! Breaking out a new codal is satisfying to me (and to law students everywhere, I'm sure)
  5. I have hyperthyroid, meaning I am on medications for life. Meaning, it's difficult for me to gain weight. Meaning, I have to take blood tests every six months. Meaning, it sucks.
  6. I have never had a mani/pedi in my life and have always wondered what they feel like, since I always cut my own nails. Maybe soon.
  7. It's only recently that I got the chance to get haircuts on my own. My mom always felt the need to watch over my haircuts like a hawk and I have no idea why. She always thinks I'll do something crazy, like *gasp* actually get bangs!
  8. I don't know if I truly like being in law school but I also don't know what I would do, otherwise. Stasis, thy name is Mika.
  9. That said, I have forgotten everything I've learned in my first 2 years of law school.
  10. I really should go back to studying Succession. And shower.

Tagging: Von, Camille L, Kara, Martin ... and I guess anyone else who hasn't done this.

Eliminate the words not, don't and can't [Jun. 9th, 2008|08:50 am]
The past few days, I've been focusing on what I don't like, what I don't have, what I can't do and what he doesn't do, rather than what I do like, what I do have, what I can do and what he actually does.

Thanks to my beloved Camus, who has given me a crash course on how to (eventually) change this outlook. It's not easy. Every time I'm down, nobody can really console me but myself and many a friend has given up on me. It doesn't take much to make me happy but the problem is, it doesn't take much to make me sad either. I'm like Eeyore with a split personality disorder.

Today, the last day of summer vacation, I am just going to focus on the good things.

Basket [May. 11th, 2008|04:27 pm]
There appears to be a basketball tournament in full swing in the village behind ours, and it's driving me CRAZY.

There's only one commentator and she keeps saying "Number ___!! Basket!"

What the hell does "basket" mean? A failed attempt? Or a sure shot?

She seems to be enjoying her job though. She's there as early as 7 am and goes on till late afternoon, with intervals of Chris Brown's "With you" and that Apple Bottom Jeans song in heavy rotation.

But really, what the hell is BASKET.

We have to have faith in our illusions [May. 11th, 2008|08:05 am]

I could really use a new book. I finished the one I was reading (Night and Day - Virginia Woolf) two days ago and have no idea what to buy next.

Any suggestions?

School's coming up in a couple of weeks and I will, again, not have the time to read what I want to read.

Pill popper [Mar. 27th, 2008|02:15 pm]
May I just say that I love Zithromax and all its 3-day glory. I have finals coming up and I have the stirrings of a full-on flu and because I can't be bothered with 5 days of forgetting, I now only have to deal with 3! Hurrah!

I'm still not all better but it's a big improvement from yesterday where I felt and sounded like I had buckets and buckets of phlegm.

I love you, Zithromax. And Claritin. And Benadryl. And Sinutab (Extra Strength). And Decolgen (non-drowsy).

Oh and of course, I love you Thyrax. Without you I would still think I had Parkinson's disease and a golf ball in my throat.

Amen.

The student council message was iffy, to say the least.

I hate midterms [Aug. 9th, 2007|09:06 am]
[Tags|, ]
[Current Music |Colbie Caillat - Bubbly (I am loving her album)]

Someone should do a study on how much people change during testing periods. In my school alone, you would come up with a lot of character profiles.

Some people just won't shut up.

Some people think they're much better than everyone else and, yes, they STILL won't shut up.

Some people, even if they have the intention of helping you out, come across as being annoyingly patronizing.

Some people huddle together and try to outdo one another with how much they know .

Some people just want to be left alone.

I consider myself as one of the people who want to be left alone but when I do ask questions, I don't want any hoity toity tones like "Oh my god, you don't even know that?" or "Oh my god, I told you I told you" or "No no no no." If I'm wrong, tell me why and then shut up. Don't go into a whole tirade about it because it pisses me off.

And it's a curious thing - how people go from being mad silent to SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS and/or whining when they get out of the testing room. Well, okay, yeah I'm one of those.

I wish it would be over so people and the whole vibe would go back to normal. The air is so thick with competition and the desire to one-up everyone, I could spoon it up and have it for breakfast.

Thyroid Update [Jul. 25th, 2007|06:45 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[Current Music |Prince - All the Midnights in the World]

My TSH level is inching its way towards the target, um, level which is good. Except that I've been getting constant headaches and am feeling feverish during the day. I can't really study.

Hopefully I don't lose any more weight and/or feel like vomiting at the strangest moments.

I half-bombed a Nego recit, mostly because I gave up. I know that if I stood a little longer my teacher would have helped me but instead, I took a step towards my chair and said, "Sorry Sir, I can't remember."

The strangest recit, however, was during Property kanina. It lasted all of three seconds, long enough to say accion reinvidicatoria.

Why should I complain, though? Mwahaha.

Just wanted to record events.

Time for my lj superfriends to help [Jul. 7th, 2007|06:20 am]
[Current Music |Metric - Rock me now]

I barely have time to walk around Rockwell mall (most law students consider it as a mere walkway to school. That, or their cafeteria) much less gallivant around Makati so please, help a loser out.

Where can I buy toners for our printer (HP Laserjet 1020)? We usually refill it with Ink4less but just in case I won't have time to wait an hour (or two), where can I buy them? I checked the PC Express website and they don't seem to have any for sale. National Bookstore doesn't carry toners (just cartridges, baduy) and I haven't checked Office Warehouse yet but I *highly doubt* that they have them.

Man, Power plant is just so ... puny.

Any help is really appreciated, thanks.

The Millionaire's Club [Jul. 2nd, 2007|09:02 pm]
20 of us shelled out 1,500 pesos to get 25 lottery tickets each. The big draw is on Wednesday and we are looking to get around 2.5M each. That is, of course, if the stars are in our favor.

Mick couldn't stop talking about what he'd do with his share (laptop, time deposit, and ibibigay kay Charity haha)

Camille wants to get a car.

I can't even begin to think what I would do with 2 million pesos.

It's a long shot and we probably won't get anything but damn is it fun to dream.

2 days from now, I could be a millionaire!

And this millionaire has to study for Nego.

Robot showdown! [Jun. 29th, 2007|10:33 pm]
Megatron
PRIIIIIIIIIIIMEEEEE

I really enjoyed Transformers but wow, there were two really useless (for me) scenes.

The first one was when this scantily-clad girl was shot (as in with a camera, not with a gun) from behind and Megatron flew over her slow-mo. What was that about? The girl just came out of nowhere and she's sitting in the middle of the road in a blue dress. Labo.

Also, the last scene. Why were the robots watching the humans make out?

But I didn't expect it to be that funny or that angas. Galing.

I have an 8 am class tomorrow and I AM SCREWED. Worth it though.

Tired is [Jun. 28th, 2007|09:44 pm]
[Tags|, ]

... not having the energy to change the radio station, even if a godawful version (A version! I can't even stand the original) of "Unchained Melody" is playing.

There are certain songs I just hate hearing in the car, some of which are the following:

1. Follow your Road - Pauline Wilson
2. Wind Beneath your Wings - Bette Midler
3. Fake bossa nova. I heard a Tagalog version of Samba do Soho the other night. WHAT THE HELL.

Come to think of it, these are songs I'd hate to hear anywhere. Yak.

I love driving though. I may not have the best sense of direction but I love driving just the same. Especially my concert moments. It's so much fun to just sing and dance your heart out while inching your way through bad traffic. It's certainly more fun for the people who see me though, as my car is barely tinted.

Ok anyway, I'm stalling.
