Job interview: oh man, so so good and then so so bad :\ meep!

good: people be calling me (Hoe, Jenna, Susan) for major hangs
bad: i have no money

can someone tell me why there are still graphic designers who work with dinosaur programs in rooms with no windows, carpeted walls and fluorescent lighting? also, why do i always meet designers who cannot intelligently conduct themselves; the woman that I'd be replacing (if I get this job, which I'm so praying I do) seriously I thought she was a mentally disabled hillbilly until it dawned on me who she was.

i was interviewed by 3 people; talking through my portfolio, grilled with questions, paraded around the company, etc... 3 times! oh man... i was so exhausted when an HOUR AND A HALF later I got in the car and drove home. eek.

i need a job!

tomorrow: send thank you card to ppl from today's interview, call places i've sent resumes to and haven't heard from, work out, hangs with jenna cletus - hooray!

i think i'm going into seclusion for awhile. i just feel like hiding from everyone and everything, especially the internetz. eh. i think i'm finally just catching up with the last 15 weeks of no sleep and far too much stress and stimulation. all of that talk of hibernation and puppy cuddles is all i want right now.

but tomorrow my dad and i move my things out of the apartment in Columbia and officially move me back to St. Louis. after that - sleep. lots and lots of sleep and job interviews.

i'm the ultimate fat kid right now.
i feel fucking gross.

um, that is all.

plans for 2008:
- get job
- make money
- get back in shape
- finish getting hott
- make outs with lots of hot dudes
- go on a fab vacay w/ money from my job.

& Wicked was amazn. best play evarrrr.

ELEVEN DAYS!
...I called home tonite and you know what my Dad said first-off? "Only 11 days!" All excited and once it dawned on me that he was referring to how many days until graduation I kind of freaked the fuck out.

I may or may not have used GarageBand to slice "Graduation Day" by Head Automatica into a ringtone for my cell :\

TIRCK OR TREAT!

The skeletons are out tonite,
they march about the street.
With bony bodies, bony heads,
bony hands and feet.
Bony bony bony bones,
with nothing inbetween.
Up and down and all around,
they march on Halloween.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
xo Liz, her Skelly, and the Batingtons.

Oh, and I got the best 'Ween gift ever.

Hoe screenprinted this gorgeous hand-mixed ink on a thick black stonehenge paper and made treat boxes out of it which she filled with candy. I felt way loved to get one since she only made 20 and I know how much time she put into their construction. She even screened the tags, LOVE IT! This is why it's nice to be BFFs with the other art kids, to trade little projects around.

I made my own little Halloween paper goods, 5 little greeting cards that I printed on the lovely Phaser at work.

I handmade the envelopes and drew the ghosts myself. Cute, if I do say so myself. Take that Hallmark!

Alison, I'm glad you got your card in time for Halloween. I was afraid the US Postal Service would fudge up and lose it over the ocean or something equally horrible. Hope your Halloween was better than shit, lol.

2007 MTV VMAs
I'm going to be updating this as the show goes along because I'm sitting in the living room watching it, set up on the couch with my trusty Apple lappy.

- As I type, Chris Brown is doing his thing and it's awesome. I see St. Louis' own Nelly in the crowd and Rhianna's out doing a bit of "Umbrella" and she looks fierce! The shoes are amazing and I love the jacket with the full zipper back.

- Mark Ronson, LOVE IT! Grace and I heard "Valerie" in the mall yesterday and I'm so in love with that song. I need his album.

- Britney's extensions were the first thing I saw and I just cringed, the outfit was sexy and for having popped out 2 kids she looked fit, but the lip-synching was terrible, she looked bored and out of it. The song's okay, it's not "Toxic" or "I'm A Slave 4 U" but it's not terrible.

- The whole thing with the suite parties is cool. Kanye's got Soldja Boy right now and I love that song. FARNSWORTH BENTLEY'S THERE! Love him, too! Kanye's rocking the white Wayfarers and I am jealous.

- Seth Rogan saying "Chumbawuma" was a nice little lol.

-Teh Wentz's hair scares me.

- Tyga, Lil Wayne, Travie from GCH, Brandon Urie with Fall Out Boy on the "This Ain't a Scene" Kanye remix version. HOOOOOOT! (and yes, I've become Paris Hilton with my gratuitous use of the word 'hot')

- I'm tired of hearing the Peter Bjorn and John song

It's Monday morning, walk right past the fabulous mess we're in.

PATRICK WOLF IN CHICAGO TUESDAY OCTOBER 9TH!

Oh man oh man oh man I think I'm about to hyperventilate.
I've got to make this work out, I've gotta get to that show.
P Wolf. Chicago. Paaaaaaaaatrick Wooooooooooolf in Chiiiiiicago!
*dies*

I don't see how I can do this, considering it's a Tuesday and I have classes. My Mom is not going to go for this at all; she won't let me drive, she won't let me take Megabus alone, and she won't want to go with me. I hate this. But maybe I can do it... hey, I saw Morrissey in Chicago when it was impossible, didn't I? *sigh*

Now I can't sleep. My brain is far too worked up.

MCR FRIDAY FIVE
What are your favourite songs to hear live?
"Headfirst for Halos" "Give Em Hell Kid" and "Dead!"
There's so many fits of screaming, prancing, and pulling faces during these songs, that's why they're my fav live.

Are you going to buy The Umbrella Academy when it comes out?
Eh, yeah probably. But I'm not going to be the rabid super fan that runs out the day it's released to buy it.

Have any of the guys/the band as a whole lead you to discover something new that you maybe wouldn't have experienced otherwise?
My second-wind of getting into MCR was about the same time I changed my major from Journalism to Art in 2004 so I got really into Art shit hardcore and discovered just how much art is everywhere and influences so much of life. Like my being a graphic designer, graphic design is everywhere; so is art and music. MCR also gave me a family and somewhere to belong - not with other fans, shit I can't stand the people at shows - but I feel like those 5 guys and their songs are part of me, living and breathing as one thing.

If you could give the band any sort of superpowers what would they be?
Invisiblity. It's gotta be rough doing normal things like grocery shopping or hanging out with friends when everyone knows who you are. So, I'd give them the power to be invisible.

Have you been to/are you going to a Projekt Revolution date?
Fuck no! Dudes, this is the SECOND tour MCR has skipped Missouri on. Fuck that shit. It's not like they don't sell out when they play here because everytime they play StL it's sold out.

...Mpls report soon I promise.

Oh, why do you come? Just to read my diary?

Oh, joy - today's the day I've been very impatiently awaiting, Tegan and Sara's The Con is out today! And so is HANSON's The Walk! A trip to Best Buy is in order after work today :)

I was very bad today, I had Chipotle for lunch; the office ordered in as a little goodbye party for Dan's last day. And you know what sucked? They forgot the rice in my veggie burrito bowl, so it was like this wet mess which wasn't the tastiest thing ever. Not worth the splurge :'( My phone consult. is @ 7 tonite with my nutritionist, so I've gotta confess and I'm worried he'll be mad at me.

Last nite I found the MOST DELICIOUS remix ever, like better than anything MSTRKRFT could do... Sparks remix of Morrissey's "Suedehead!" Ugh, it's like a musical orgasm in my ears. Swear. If you like Sparks or Morrissey at all, you have to get on iTunes and buy it now! now! now!

The summer of splurge continues as I've decided exactly what style of fleur de lis I want for my tattoo *cough*blackparadedrumkit*cough* and I really think that I'm going to see if I can have my sister do it in a few weeks. And I've been toying with the idea of (and believe me this idea is something I want done a few years down the road, not anytime soon) getting a Morrissey portrait or something very Moz-inspired. But yeah, I'd have to have lost weight because I'd want it on my upper arm and I'd want to show it off and I'd have to save up lots of money because I'd want a good portrait artist to do it. Skelly looks lonely, I want more tattoos.

MCR Friday Five
MCR Friday Five

1. What is your absolute favourite My Chem song?
"Headfirst for Halos". It was the song that made me say 'holy fuck what is this?' when I saw them open for The Used. Matt's drum fills sounded like a firing squad, just gunshots going off right in your face. And the screaming intro with that angry growl thing? Fuck, it was overload for me. I had never heard anything like it, ever. I knew in that moment that this was something amazing. And whenever I think of MCR I think of that moment when I heard Headfirst live.

2. If you were given the creative freedom to re-make any My Chem video which one would you do? What would be your premise?
"Teenagers" and I don't even know why, honestly. I think I dislike the video because it's based on the band's performance, but it's not as raw as "Famous Last Words." I think it just seemed way too much like the set for Green Day's American Idiot tour, with the banners and such. If I made the video my entire setup would be similar to "I'm Not Okay" with the band playing kids in a school. I have this one idea of Gerard standing in front of a mirror in a principal's office singing the "They're gonna clean up your look" bit with a principal upset over his outfit and throwing a school dress code handbook at him and cut to Gerard in a very catholic school uniform.

3. Have any of their songs ever made you cry, even for the silliest of reasons?
Oh man, I've never actually cried to an MCR song until "Cancer" because my Grandpa died of leukemia and that song just resonated with me. I cried when I heard a leak of it last summer, I cried when they performed it on MTV$2, and I cried when I saw them do it live. I also cried during the VMA pre-show "Welcome to the Black Parade" last year because it was so dramatic and this big bombastic thing that I was not expecting to hear from MCR in terms of new music, I was blown away. And I guess that was pretty silly.

4. What is your favourite My Chem music video?
The original version of "I'm Not Okay" with them in the van and in Jersey at Skate and Surf. Just because it was the first video of theirs that I had ever seen. It was Aug of 2004 on MTVU and I was in my dorm room, it came on and I perked up (I hadn't really heard of MCR since early 2003 and thought they disappeared), I knew that song was them in an instant, I saw the video and about shit myself. Who doesn't love a self-made dirty dudes on tour video?

5. If you could pick any song for My Chem to cover, which would it be?
Ykes, I'm so weird about covers. But I'd have to say that I would love to hear their take on "Bones" by The Killers because when I first heard that song, the lyrics seemed very MCR-ish. Shit or I think maybe a cover of Alkaline Trio's "Sadie," I think Gerard would sing the "Sadie G/she's crazy/see/that's what the white-coats say/And now/Miss Susan A/you're losing every opportunity/to put us all away" in a very agressive and harsh way which would be different but very interesting in contrast to Skiba's soft flowing way of singing it. Man, I can imagine an MCR version of "Sadie" and it makes me wish it were real.

PS:

Thank you to my inconsiderate and messy roommate Kim, who threw a garbage bag leaking milk into the garage... you've attracted a menagerie of insects into the house as I've killed my 3rd bug of the day.

I just Raid-ed and Birkenstock-ed a big brown spider, 1 inch at least, that was creeping around in my bedroom. Totally fucking gross and scary. A spider or moth in the bathroom or kitchen is one thing, but the bedroom?! NO WAY!

I'm off to bed trying not to think of all of the bugs that could possibly be in my house, creep up into my bed, and be on my face when I wake up in the morning.

Can you lurk yourself? If so, then that's what I've been doing all afternoon.

Wanna see Liz shooting at the Panic! show from July? Well then don't start the video, you can only see me in the first like 3 seconds. I'm the one on the right, standing there with my back turned. SUH_WEET!

If you're really good, you can see me dodging around on the far right during MCR.

Annnnnnd you can see me floating around in front of the stage and behing the monitors during this one, you can also spot my flash going off in a few places. I still cry tears for the loss of Loser's Luck.
