Help me out
Apr. 20th, 2007 | 09:57 am
Guys, I need your help!
My friends and I have signed up for a football (soccer) tournament, and they just announced that one of the teams with the top 10 most supporters will have a chance to play against a famous team (from a TV show ). Now my team has quite a few supporters, but we'd like even more to make sure that we stay in the top 10. This is where you guys come in.
( Here's what you can do )

Help!

I'm in the middle of my big assignment, and I need a bit of help..
I'm pretty sure there's a place in one of the HP books where Harry describes Hogwarts as the closest thing he's ever had to a home. I just can't find it.
Does anyone out there know where this is written? Or is it something from a fic?

I know I haven't posted in ages, and I'll probably get one done one of these days... But for now:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practised within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all; and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures, and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of the wishees.
By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

I'm leaving for London in 45 min. Well, that's when I'm leaving the house in any case. Anyways, I'm writing this to let you all know that I'll possibly be afk for the next two weeks. I'm hoping that I'll be able to check my emails daily, so if you need to get a hold of me you can always email (thanquol @ hotmail.com).
I'm staying in London for 5-6 days, and then I'll go to Oxford to visit my family there. I'll stay with the family for 8 days, and will be flying back on the 20th. Yay!
Don't kill the fandom while I'm gone :)

How grammatically correct are you? (Revised with answer key)

You are a GRAMMAR GOD!
Congratulations! If your mission in life is not already to preserve the English tongue, it should be. You can smell a grammatical inaccuracy from fifty yards. Your speech is revered by the underlings, though some may blaspheme and call you a snob. They're just jealous. Go out there and change the world.

Well, I just finished reading this: http://www.journalfen.net/users/charlot telennox/
(It's long like hell, and it took me a fair few hours to read it all with the links and stuff..)
I really don't know what to say. I've been around since 2004, but only recently actively in anything other than the FA forums.. Someone should write "The History of FictionAlley". That would be interesting, reading about how/why/who started it and stuff like that. Prominent people who left FA (maybe even why they left) would be cool.
I just feel like there's so much happened that I know nothing of, and I hate it. I'm a very curious person, some would even call be nosy (I'm not!). I like knowing what's going on, even though it doesn't affect me directly.
I might write more about this, I need to have a think about it first. Also, I've got a maths test tomorrow and I should study for that. And I'm hungry (it's 1 pm and I've had nothing to eat).
If you haven't read The Ms.Scribe Story you should. It's an interesting read, but beware. It's long and will probably take a while to finish. I'm a pretty fast reader and it took me hours to read.

Well, I have now been without a cell phone for one week and it's not as bad as I though it would be. There have been a few occations where I wished I had one, but I survived. I still want a new one, though :) I thinking of buying a Nokia 6101. Do any of you guys know this phone, and can you recommend it/un-recommend it (need a better word for this)?
I'd pimp the eMentor call, but people on my flist are either already eMentors or thet have no idea what FictionAlley is..
Class starts now, gotta go!

Happy Birthday,
captainjames!! I hope you have a good day :)
In other news, my computer has finally arrived! This is officially the first journal entry ever written from this computer *happiness*
One thing I discovered when moving all my stuff from the old family computer to my new laptop, is how many things I've become accustomed to in Firefox, mIRC and MSN Messenger. The amount of plug ins, scripts and other stuff I've had to find again is quite amazing! Also all the stuff I had! I took up 2 GB (out of 10) and I've recently deleted a ton of my music (went from 1 day of music to 8 hours of music).
I'm in a good mood right now, as you might guess :)
I want the GOF DVD! Sadly I have to wait until I get a visit from the UK to get it. Don't ask me why, but I want my Harry Potter DVDs to be from the UK just like my books are (well, OotP isn't from England, but it's the UK edition).
Well, I'm off to mess around with my computer some more *grin*

Yay! I'm getting a laptop! My parents decided (after much begging from my side) that they'd lend me the $1300 I needed to get one. My dad just called me and said he was getting one, so why not get mine at the same time :D I'm very happy right now, and I can't wait for it to arrive. I want it now!

In other news, I'm still alive. I know I haven't updated this in ages, but then again you probably don't care that I haven't been updating.
