BOOM! - SGA Big Bang
SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED!

This sign-up is for writers of OTHER HET, OTHER SLASH and OT4 section -- please make sure this is the sign-up post you want! (Just in case you're lost, the Sheppard/Weir sign-ups are HERE.)

Welcome to the sign-ups for the (second) Stargate: Atlantis Big Bang Challenge! (This is long, but we believe that with patience and determination, you can read everything here.) ::salutes crisply::

We're doing things a bit differently for this portion of the challenge: writer sign-ups are first come, first serve, and the number of spots per pairing is based on the number of artists willing to do art. As each pairing fills up, I'll post an ETA to let y'all know it is no longer available. If your first choice pairing is not available when you sign up, we'll shift you to your alternate (depending on whether you've provided one, and availability.) A mod will comment to confirm your sign-up.

This challenge is open to any writer who wishes to participate, but you must read through rules 1-7 here and make sure you qualify and are interested in following the set parameters.

***PLEASE NOTE: If you signed up to write McKay/Sheppard or gen, and would like to sign up for one of these pairings instead, you may.***

The Rules and Sign-Ups )

And, last but not least, depending on sign-up volume, there may be times when I have to 'Private' the sign-up post to make sure I have an accurate count; if you get an error message, try again in a few minutes....

I know this has been confusing and/or frustrating, but please bear with us -- we think we've finally figured this out, and the confusion will be lifting soon!

SGA Bigbang 'Other Slash' and YOU!

[info]sgabigbang is considering opening its doors to multiple pairings, and I'm a huge fan of this idea, so I'm working to get the 'Other Slash Pairings' section going.... To do that, I need an accurate idea of numbers. I'm interested in authors, yes, but I especially need people willing to make art or vids to go with each story.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pimp this poll to others -- I am interested in any and all SGA slash pairings that are not McKay/Sheppard, and I want to catch as many people as I can.

For HET other than Weir/Sheppard, OT4 or THREESOMES, go here: http://thisissirius.livejournal.com/258759.html

ETA, the second:

There seems to be a bit of confusion as to the timeline, so here are the relevant dates:

March 10th: Writer sign-ups begin, and will close on March 17th.
May 12th: [info]svmadelyn will ask you on the community if you have 15,000 words yet. There are no consequences if you don't, but you are highly encouraged to have them done.
July 14th: COMPLETED story drafts are due. You will have a beginning, a middle, an ending. It will be completed to the point where, if posted online, you would not die of humiliation. You would only perhaps want to take a wee vacation in Bermuda. These will be sent swiftly to your artists. You may not blind your artists in other words. *g* All that should really be left is tweaking, slight plot point shifts, the like; adding the glossy finish to a beautifully crafted desk! No exceptions will be made - if your stories don't get submitted on this date, you won't get assigned an artist.
July 25th: Final copy of story is to be submitted into the story database. No exceptions will be made.
August 7th: Art, vids due.
August 12th or 13th: Site goes live.

And, the word requirement for this category (OTHER SLASH) is the same as the McShep/Gen category -- 40,000. I have no problem believing any of us could write that much (or more)....

ETA, the third: If you're committed to doing art or writing for OTHER SLASH, please leave your email address in a comment; I've screened everything. Thanks!

Other HET/SLASH/OT4 Artist Prompts

Lorne - SGA Big Bang!
So, you may have noticed that there are only FIVE stories to chose from...yeah, we did too, so there was a bit of rearranging and a bit of a rule shift for this section. Normally, we wouldn't double up artists on stories, but as there are a lot more of you than there are prompts, we're going to allow three artists to claim a story; I'll try to keep up with you guys in real time, but please check the comments for claims that might not be updated yet.

All of the prompts are numbered; to claim a prompt, simply comment with the number that corresponds to the prompt you would like to create art for. Once the prompts have all been assigned, I'll email out the stories to the artists.

And one final, special note: Be aware that many of these stories are still unbetaed and/or unedited; the final *final* copy is not due until July 25th. You are not required to read your entire story; we've got a process in place that leaves you in great shape to do your part even if you don't have the time to read the entire thing. (Or perhaps you're like me and you prefer to wait until things are betaed. *g*) So you're going to have rougher copies, but all of the writers are aware they cannot change plot points, so you don't have to worry about doing something for a story that no longer...happens in the story. If you want a copy of your writer's story on the 25th, send an email to sgabigbang@gmail.com, and we'll be happy to give you the final version. Or hey, just email your author and ask them to send you their final copy.

So, a quick refresher of what's expected, and then on to the prompts:

Your art can be of any rating that you choose.

You are expected to do one piece for this challenge. However, more are very, very welcome.

If you do want to do a second piece of art, but for a different story, you need to have finished (and submitted) your first submission, and then you can select a second story that you'll do art for. For the second story, we will allow you to know your author ahead of time if you'd like, in case there's an author you're just dying to do something for. These will be on a first come, first served basis, because we want the stories to have even amounts of art if possible. (In other words: once a story has been selected by an artist as their second story, we'll mark it, and the rest of the artists will have to pick another story, and so on down the line.) The McShep/Gen section is running with a very tight ratio of artists to fic, and we might ask anyone interested in completing a second piece of art to consider doing one for that section instead of this one.

Any questions should be directed to me, at gblvr[at]yahoo[dot]com.
