Chapter 85: In this chapter we finally hear the whole story of Tohru’s encounter with the “red hat boy”; and Yuki comes to some important realizations about life in general, and his life in particular.1.Yuki debates whether his illness was caused by the weakening of his body or the weakening of his spirit. What do you think?
2.Akito seems particularly malicious here. Why do you think this is?
3.I noticed that spider webs are shown in several places throughout this chapter. What do you think that they represent?
4.The clothes that Yuki is wearing when he runs away have never looked like “Yuki” clothes to me; does anyone else have any thoughts on that?
5.Wasn’t Tohru lost in the first place because some boys chased her? Why do you think that she chooses to trust Yuki, who she doesn’t know, and to follow him?
6.Why do you think that Yuki gives Tohru the hat?
7.I honestly never realized that Yuki transformed after giving Tohru the hat until I re-read this chapter. Why do you think this is? Is it simply because he was sick, or was it something else?
8.The theme of darkness vs. light seems very prevalent in this chapter. Discuss if you wish.
