Ugh...

The latest abuses of power from the TSA. Some scary, scary stuff. Something is seriously wrong here...

------------

Am I the only one tired of Obama going around the world and meeting with important people and telling them what he thinks should be done?

Here's a list of recent headlines...

Obama urges Iran to accept EU nuke proposal
Obama meets key Mideast leaders
Obama to visit West Bank, Palestinian official says
Obama to demand more from Europe in Berlin speech
Obama presses Europe on Afghanistan

"Hey, guys, I'm going to run one of the most powerful nations in the world, so you should ALREADY be paying attention to me, and heeding my words!" News flash, man. Until you actually get into office, you DON'T speak for the entire U.S., you only speak for yourself! How arrogant!

Did his people think this would look GOOD? What were they thinking, sending him overseas to tell everyone what he thinks is wrong with them?

Imagine if someone running for president from France came to your country and started telling you what was wrong with you and what you should be doing? How would you feel about it THEN?

*eyeroll*

Multipost from HECK!
Firstly, here's some art you might want to check out. Yeah, I'm not usually one for
art pimping, but this guy got a lot of kids to draw pictures and then took the ones he liked best and recreated and took photos of them. There's some fun stuff there.

For those book fans out there, here's something awesome. Make your house/self smell like a library. I know a lot of people on my list are like me and inhale deeply everytime they enter a library for the whole gestalt of the experience.

FYI, there are other awesome scents there, too.

Between postrophe and hakuen offering to let me borrow cars and catlyn99 asking me if I needed a ride to college, I have the best friends in the world.

In updateyness, the car is fixed AGAIN and I'm now $5,300 in debt, although it will soon be $3,800.

...and this is just funny, funny stuff. Ganked from [info]krystalemerges...

Potpourri sprinkled on top of a Thank You
Since it's summer and all, I thought I might take this moment to let y'all know that a while back I took a moment out my busy, busy schedule to whip up a signature blend of teas for what I consider to be a great summer fruity iced tea. It's called Death by Fruit (Decaf). The decaf is so people can drink it at night on the summer porch and still be able to go to bed soon. I don't think I get any kickback for it, but I like it so I figured I may as well throw a pimp out there.

Problems...
Yesterday my transmission went out. It will be 2000 dollars to fix it. School starts Monday. I still owe mom 2,600 for fixing this car and she can't loan me anymore.

I have no idea what to do and I'd elaborate on everything, (I was planning on it) but it would just be too depressing for you. Or for me. I'm not sure which.

I dyed my hair again, and it turned out darker than it said even people with BLACK hair would have after using it! The last time this happened I felt hideous for MONTHS!!!

Potpourri...

1. If I was the sort of person who could afford this, threw parties and thought there was a point to serving dishes having pictures on them even though food will be obscuring it most of the time, I would TOTALLY buy these...

2.As distressing as it is that so much of the state is on fire, there's something almost comforting about the fact that at least this ONE time it isn't our area on fire.

3. I made a desktop with Rufus from Kim Possible and posted it over at DeviantArt, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Video help...

I'm looking for a video online, I think most of us have seen it? It's a shot from, I BELIEVE, a British children's show, and there's a puppet in it. They have a dog on the show, I think the dog's owner or trainer is being interviewed, and the dog is interacting with the puppet and the puppet is acting frightened of the little dog getting in it's face. It's pretty funny. Martin doesn't remember it, so I wanted to show it to him, but I can't find it. Any help?

Super Genki Crab Summer...

In an effort to justify the purchase of a pen tablet and to struggle past the learning curve on the thing, I made a desktop wallpaper doohickey thing, and you can see it over at deviantart. Not my best work ever, but it WAS the first thing I ever really drew on it, so I suppose it's good for that. And it's sort of an advert for an old single my virtual band had, so don't assume you're not hip for not having heard of us.

27 Louise Brooks Icons
As the subject says, 27 Louise Brooks icons, taken from the screencaps I've posted over at cap_it. All of the images are from the documentary Louise Brooks - Looking for Lulu, which was silly of me, really, because I've got so many pictures of Louise Brooks on my hard drive already...

Cute little film border from [info]minttea, and the sprockets are transparent, so they'll look good on any background ^_^

Say you knew someone who had a new pen tablet and wanted to draw but was a complete noob with using one. What program would you recommend for them to use with the pen tablet??

Do you like Miyazaki films? Of course you do, we all do. As much as I like them, which is pretty well but not MONSTROUSLY, I enjoyed Studio Ghibli's The Cat Returns even more. It's a Miyazaki film that Miyazaki didn't make. Weird, I know, but I think it's the best thing I've ever seen from Ghibli. My recommendation? Totally rent it. I'm putting it on my wish list to own as well.

"A Riverside County jury found 55-year-old Mansa Muhummed guilty on 25 counts Wednesday, including torturing seven of the children, abusing 12 of them and falsely imprisoning two wives. He faces seven possible life sentences. Muhummed told authorities that his Muslim faith gave him the right to take multiple wives."

A REAL Wall-E on the streets of Los Angeles!! Oh, I WANT to see that in real life!!

-----------

I don't understand all the talk (especially pre-decision) about people deciding whether it's better to vote for a black or a woman, or a recent article I saw about black conservatives being torn on whether to support Obama. If we're really tolerant and race-blind and everything, shouldn't the color of the candidate, or the sex of the candidate not matter? Shouldn't this be no more complex than any other election? Shouldn't it be all about issues and experience? Shouldn't color and sex not even come into it except with people who really are LESS tolerant or LESS race/sex-blind?

Picture Post: Art Deco Walk
On May 31st, [info]postrophe and [info]krystalemerges were nice enough to invite Martin and I along with them to the Los Angeles Conservancy's Art Deco Walking Tour. It was filled with awesome and pretty and the three of them probably learned a lot about art deco in Los Angeles. I was busy in hyperactive ferret mode going...

"GottaTakePicturesGottaTakePicturesGottaTakePictures!!1!11eleventy-one!!"

On the other hand, I came back with 356 photos. It's a mixed blessing, though, because it meant I had to go through 356 photos and try to pare them down to the best 50 to show y'all. Yeah. Fifty. Feel free to just scan through looking for the architectural details that speak most to you.
