Poem of the Week (POW!) 9, "Cookies" is up.
I didn't put one up last week. I tormented myself over trying to get an idea down, which never took shape. Yesterday, I got it, and it will show up in a future POW. (Maybe later this week to make up for it.)
Looking back at my inspiration, Jonathan Coulton's Thing a Week project, I saw that he not only did covers, but re-released/ re-did older things. Hurm. Not to take anything away from him.

Holy crap. The things you miss when you're not reading LJ. Or anything else regularly.
Ahmet Ertegun passed away last month. He was the founder of Atlantic Records, and one of the absolute key figures in 20th Century music. (You can see his character working with/against Ray Charles in the Ray Charles biopic.) For me, 20th Century music, popular music, is rooted in 2 people, Ahmet and Alfred Lion, the founder of Blue Note. Without these two guys, music, especially the African-American expression of jazz, blues, soul, and R&B, would not have found the voice or the audience they did. And then the white performers who took those sounds and morphed them into Rock and/or Roll.
Baruch Dayan Emet.

Discount Electronics has an insane deal on Apple G3s.
Anyone know what software can run on a G3? I've never had an Apple computer. Can someone point me in a good direction?
PS: I need the computer essentially for its browser capabilities. I need to x-check sites on Safari and IE.
Thanks.

2 weeks ago, my car door was smashed in. There had been some car-robberies in the area -- such as Emster's purse from her car, ugh! -- but this was the first time they destroyed a window to get inside. Thankfully, my car alarm scared them off.
I woke up in the morning and was greeted by this and the door open. Guess they figured by opening it from the inside, the alarm wouldn't go off. Dumbasses. The alarm had stopped going off by morning, but the damage had been done.
Thankfully, nothing was taken. Not that there was anything valuable there to _be_ taken anyway.
Bargain AUto Glass replaced the window by coming to our place the same day for the cheapest price: $150.

A few weeks back, when people were going on about the full frontal nudity at the Sock Puppet slam, I kinda didn't know what y'all were talking about. I was too wrapped up in the competition.
Tonight, looking through the photos, I saw this. Oh dear.

Proto-punkster Greg Brady was the origin and inspiration for Johnny Lydon's (of the Sex Pistols) stage name:
After realizing that he was not wanted for his singing skills, nor his looks, but only because he "fit the suit", Greg Brady said "Adios, Johnny Bravo":
I thought I could change my name and my personality and become some big flashy rock star, but I was just kidding myself. Let's face it, Johnny Bravo's nothing but Johnny Rotten.
You have been informed.

Hey! It's penguins! Everyone cheer up, the penguins (nature's comedians) are coming! They don't care about Katrina. They don't care about the war or Cindy Sheehand. They have hundreds of miles of blizzards to walk shuffle through.
