I'm not fond of Facebook. But that said, there's no denying that it's fast become the spot where all the cool kids go. And while I like to think there's something to be said about artistic integrity, there's also something to be said for the value of promotion in a highly visible forum. So, ummmm, yeah, I throw this link out in an effort to see what it means in terms of making Facebook a more mt friendly place.

Just so you know, I still haven't joined Facebook, I have little interest in doing that on a personal level, but if it's worth it promotion-wise, wellllllll, maybe...

A friend of mine posted this and I thought it was sufficiently nostalgic enough to be blogworthy.
Note the blazer, the hair, the thoughtful expression and the very chic way I hold my cigarette in the same hand as my pool cue. Those of you that know me in person will attest that I still retain that level of sophistication.
Ahem, yessssss, anyway, this is a shot from the pool room at the notorious Death in the Underground, around ummmmmmmm, 94, 95? My, how the times have changed...
... oh, btw, hi, I'm still alive.

Yes, this is a repeat post, but I think it bears repeating. Thanks very much to everybody that has already donated, your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated, and I'd also like to thank in advance those of you that will donate over the next few days.

So I'm doing the AIDSwalk again this year on Sunday September 16th, which means that I'm going to be hitting you up for money (probably repeatedly) over the next couple of weeks, so if you have a few extra dollars in your pocket that you'd like to donate by all means visit my sponsor page at
https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/pers onalPage.aspx?EventID=11306&LangPref=en-CA&RegistrationID=342510
For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, the AIDSwalk is an annual fund raising event that's sponsored by the AIDS Committee of Toronto. Money raised by participants goes towards various programs and initiatives from ACT, all of which are designed to provide support, HIV prevention and education services for people living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS.
As many of you know ACT is a group that I hold very close to my heart and who I support very strongly. I hope that you agree that it's a very important organization and that you'd like to support my efforts in the Walk.
Now admittedly I can appreciate that many of you don't live in Toronto, and so donating to a local charity might not seem that interesting to you. But I'd like to point out that while ACT is a local charity, their work certainly extends to other communities all over the world. The ACT library is one of the largest collections of HIV/AIDS materials in the world with over 13000 resources which are regularly outsourced and shared between organizations. Further, studies and reports generated by ACT are circulated throughout many other AIDS Service Organizations all over the world and have been the basis for many initiatives and programs implemented by those ASOs. Donations made to the Walk For Life while not directly influencing other groups may ultimately end up helping them. So please, keep this in mind if you're on the fence about making a donation.
Give it some thought and if you have the chance, give ACT some cash...
Love,
me
xoxo
PS Can't spare any cash? No problem! Maybe you'd like to walk too!

For those of you that are interested in my show at the Drake (1150 Queen West in Toronto), it's happening tonight at 815 sharp. When I say that I'm on at 815, I'm not referring to Rock Star time, I'm talking actual literal real world time. It's PWYC and 19+ and of course I'd love to see you there.
I will be bringing my sock monkey, and no, that isn't a euphemism.

My set will also feature video by Sarah Grant who some of you know and who is really cool. That alone should be enough to entice you out.
Did I say I'm bringing my sock monkey?

Some of you may know that my dear friend the very fabulous
lilactime is the editor of a really cool food blog called TasteTO.com. It's a wonderful site where
lilactime and an intrepid band of food fans review restaurants in the Toronto area and talk about food and food related topics. It's a very cool site, and I thoroughly recommend it as a place to visit if you have any interest in eating in Toronto. Or even if you're just interested in food or eating in general. I think it's very cool...
... and I think it's particularly cool today, because
lilactime in her infinite wisdom has been able to craft an article that skillfully brings two of my favorite topics together in a fabulous showing of synergism. Indeed, any article about me and food certainly warrants further investigation.
Read an interview with me talking about eating out at TasteTO.com...
BTW keen eyed readers will recognize the lovely photography of
defamatory in the article!
