Stage musicals
So, I want to go and see a musical.  Anyone have any preferences?

I live quite close to London, so that seems like the obvious place to go.  I only really know of the massive ones.  Wicked, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Sound of Music .ect, but I don't want to pay the crazy prices they're asking for these shows.  Though, I would love to see The ~Sound of Music.

Anyhoo, anyone seen any good musicals recently?

Mamma Mia

Just got back from seeing Mamma Mia (the film) and I loved it.  Oh my God, so amazing.  it's cheesy, but in a great way!  Very funny and enjoyable.

The best bit?  The cinema was packed with young children, old couples, young couples, middle agers and teenagers.  It was so good.  Pierce Brosnan is SO bad at singing...it was very funny :D

Anyone else seen it?  Going to see it?

I do now have the biggest girl crush on Meryl Streep, Julie Walters and Christine Branskie.

Mulder...Scully.
Hello.  I actually opened photoshop today.  I just felt I needed to do something creative (...that isn't writing) so I decided upon icons.  Why X-Files?  Cos I'm currently (trying to) watch it...not going too well.

In other news, I'm reading the Gormenghast trilogy at the moment.  It's really good, but the font is so damn small and blotchy it pains me to read it for long periods of time.  Anyone read it?  Thoughts?

The X-Files
So, I was meant to be going through episodes of the X-files, but I got bored and only watched a few of the later ones.  Anyhoo, last night I watched an old school one and nearly peed myself with fear/amusement.

It was one where Mulder and this hot Russian guy went to Russia and Mulder got tested on by this weird black slug/liquid thing which seeped in through various orifices.  On one hand the craptacular graphics kinda made me chuckle (and the dodgy fashion sense of men from the 90's), but it also kinda scared me.  Some of it was really quite creepy.

Yeah...so.  Just thought I'd make a post before I go kip.  Anyone got any good episodes they like?

The Witches and books
I watched 'The Witches' the other night.  I didn't realise how scary that film is.

Anyone got any good book recs?

I'm staying at uni over the summer, so I need something to pass the time.  I don't mind what it is...I don't think I've ever read a truely funny book (a comedy I mean...I've read books which had traces of humour in them).  The only books that I will not read are teen books about someones best friend doing something to someone, books like sex and the city, where women whine about never getting a guy or sci-fi.  Gotta love the post-apocalyptic stuff though.

I hate computers
My computer died.  Again.  Luckily I didn't lose too much stuff because I had it all backed up, but still.  It fucks me off.

And now, a stupid advert has appeared at the top of my livejournal...Does anyone know how I make it go back down to the bottom?

Harry Potter and X-Files
Wow, it's been a very, very, very long while since I've made or posted icons.  So...here are a few, most of them were made months ago, cept the X-Files ones, which I've just started watching and I love Scully's hair, so of course...icons!

Apparently they were filming Harry Potter yesterday here in Farnham.  There's not much here cept for trees and grass!

New blog.
OK, well, I have to have a blog for my journalism course at uni, and I was previously using Blogger, but I hate that crap.  So, I bring to ye, [info]foggblog my journo blog.  Of course, because I used the same header as I have here, I then had to change my layout, so now I have a new one...which looks mighty similar to my other blog.  Many thanks to [info]minty_peach.

My previous post was about me watching the X-Files and not liking or understanding it.  Well, I'm still watching it, I'm still not understanding it, but I am rather enjoying it now.  I still don't think it's OMG-amazing! But it passes some time :D

The truth is out there...apparently.
So, I downloaded two series (seven and eight) of the X-Files, and I have to admit, I don't get it...I mean, I don't understand how this was the uber-super-amazing-greatest-show-on-earth way back when.  I know I should have d/l the first series, but I couldn't find it.

I've seen about 10 episodes, and some of them are good, they start off great, all that mystery and the like, but the thing that annoys me is that they just don't explain any of it...sure, they wrap it up, but they don't explain it.

For example, 'Oh, all these kids have just gone missing, even though their parents were right with them 2 minutes ago...hmmm.  Wait, we've find a guy who's been killing kids for years. Yay, got the killer!'....but seriously, that doesn't explain it!  How did they just evaporate outta their rooms??!!

All I can gather from the show is that Mulder and Scully (God, her hair is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G) just wanna have sex.

Sweeney Todd, Jeremiah the Bull Frog and Charity Chop lovin'
Sweeney Todd

So, first and foremost, we went to see Sweeney Todd yesterday.  Truthfully, quite a bloody let down!  I found myself utterly bored in some places, and just wanted to have a nice cup of tea and go to sleep.  I knew it was a musical of course, and I don't mind that, I like (some) musicals, but there was WAY more singing in this one than most, plus it was just so long...most of it just wasn't needed.

Anyone else seen it? What did you think?

Jeremiah was a Bull-Frog

Everybody else has heard of this song right?  On the train last night, they all thought I was a lunatic, making up a fake song...but it is real, I swear!

Harry potter

I managed to find Philosopher's Stone, Prisoner of Azkhaban and Goblet of Fire (books) for £4.25!  Bargain, I love charity shops!

Keen for green and the X-files
Well...hello.  A short update.

I am now not eating meat.  Only for a month though.  I'm on day 6 now, it's going quite well,  made an amazing asparagus with peanut butter sauce meal thingy last week.  Nice.  So, anyone else not do the whole dead animal thing?  Any good foods you'd recommend?

Annnd a question.  Heard a bit about the new X-files film, but I've never actually seen the show bar a few episodes...so, just a question, how is it?  I mean, would I enjoy it?  I'm really not into sci-fi at all, but I like conspiracy shows...  I think the whole space/alien thing puts me off.

Anyhoo, anyone got any clips/sites where I could see some of it?

Musical meme
I stole this from [info]whenidream.  I know it says 25, but I can't be arsed with that.  I've done 15 instead.

Step 1. Put your playlist on random.
Step 2. Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing. (You can skip songs that are instrumental.)
Step 3. Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
(No Googling! That's what they call cheating, fool.)

BTW 1, 6 and 10 are covers of the originals.

1.  I'll do it all, everything.
2.  Well, I've been here before, sat on the floor.
3.  Hit the road Jack, don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.
4.  Your silver tongue laughs at the clowns of our age
5.  There's this old woman, she lives down the road.
6.  You better draw back your bow, and let your arrow flow.
7.  I had this perfect dream.
8.  So faithful, so few, so pardon and done.
9.
Cease to know or to tell, or to feel or to be your own.
10.  Hey girl, is he everything you wanted in a man.
11.  You'd be so nice to come home to.
12.  Kiss me out of the bearded barley
13.  Night and day, you are the one.
14.
Well and I can and I die, I can, I die.
15.  High tide - mid afternoon, people fly by in the traffics boom.

Some are very, very obvious. :D

How would I go about removing those people on my friends list/communities who are no longer apart of LJ?

Y'know, the ones with a strike though their names.  Thanks m'dears.

Distress is not confined to those small capitalists...
I have to write an essay on social class in modern Britain.  Bleh.  Plus I had my website assesment hand-in thingy on Friday, so I've been sat in front of my computer for hours each day since Monday.  As a result, my back is very, very pained.  It's just around my neck, and my right shoulder.  Anyone have any way to alleviate the ache?

My house mates and I are going to spend a family night out next week by going to see Charlie Wilson's war.  Anyone seen it?  How was it?

WGA strike questions for you all.
Okay, so I know a few of you have been keeping up to date with the writers strikes.  I have too, but that's mainly because I'm writing an article about it.

My angle is how the internet is helping the writers.  In terms of online support, a place to voice to their opinions ect.  I've already got a few quote from some writers, but what I really want is a few quotes from you guys.  The fans.

So if you could just spare a few minutes to answer these questions, I'd be mighty grateful.  I won't use names if you don't want me to.  :) Thanks very much.  You don't have to answer all of them, just pick and choose if you like.

Start off with the basics.

1.  Do you support the writers?
2.  What WGA strike sites do you follow, and have you participated in any of their campaigns?
3.  What do you think of the online effort fans have made?
4.  Why do you think so many writers have gone online, creating blogs, or posting on forums?
5.  (Answer honestly now)  Does the strike annoy you?  What I mean is, most shows have only got 13 or so episodes, it means that we're all subject to short seasons or re-runs/reality TV.  Any opinions on this?

Thanks very much for any answers.  If you'd rather not reply here, feel free to email me at fogg8@hotmail.co.uk.  :)

Everyone seems to be doing them...

Your Score: Jokester Soul

You scored 9 Extroversion, -11 Sensitivity, and -3 Openness!

You are a confident person with a strong sense of self. You can be loud and jocular, and you don't really care who hears you. You don't spend too much time stressing about how other people see you. If they like you, well, good for them. If they don't like you, well, that's their own problem.

People need to earn your respect in order for you to really start taking them into consideration. You might bend yourself over backwards for a friend or family member, but you aren't going to give that sort of special treatment to any old Joe Blow. Your loved ones know that under that bold, brash exterior, there is a person who is loyal and even clannish at times. You will fight to defend your friends and family from any and all comers. With these special few, you drop that joking exterior and be your real self.

Your daemon's form would represent your confident ways, your joking and insensitive manner, and your secret tendency for softheartedness. He or she would probably help you criticize all the idiots whom you meet on a day to day basis, and back you up when you are on the defensive.

Suggested forms:
Magpie, Raven, Kangaroo, Wild Boar.
